DJ - Thanks for all of your great videos! I've only recently gotten into RC's to enjoy some bonding time with my 9-year old grandson. I have spent many fun and informative hours listening to great RUclips presentations by you, Squirrel, Jang, Vladsly, Shawnroy and many others. Thanks to each of you for taking some of your valuable "play time" to share your knowledge with the rest of us! My grandson and I now have six trucks (2 crawlers, three bashers and a Summit that often pretends to be one of the others). He works right along with me preparing, maintaining and cleaning the trucks. We did not buy a single one of them new. We shopped carefully, then spent some of the saved money on reliable upgrades. I want my grandson to learn responsible fun. So far, he is very open to it. I recently taught him to solder safely and effectively and he picked it up really well. I am proud of him! We actually look forward to the maintenance time together, and then we get to go out and run our trucks! How great is that! Thanks to you and the many others who have taken the time to teach me new ways to make our trucks run better and last longer.
So funny that in the first minute of this video you say "unless this video is a year old" and I have followed you for at least 3 years. Got my crawler crazy muddy this evening and needed to know what I needed to do to protect it for the future. Well... For me this video is 9 years old now AND still super fu**ing helpful. You are a legend my friend. As a Canadian I love how far you have come with your channels. You have been a huge part of why I love this hobby so much!
At the end you say its not an exciting rc adventure, but learning how to do these things is exciting to me!! thanks for all the great info and your on cam personality is excellent!! I love the laid back fun way you do things bro, and even though its an old video it is still very relevant. BTW, grats New Dad!!
Great advice Arron, I just thought as I keep all my greases in the bulk (I live on the coast so use Marine Grease a lot) packs, I would add that a 25ml syringe available from most chemists filled with Marine grease makes a great miniature grease gun which is a lot easier to handle for doing inside the bearings once you carefully remove the seals and I also use Moly 60 Hi Pressure grease on the the gears in the gear box and diff's, hope this helps
Where I live in the UK we rarely have any snow but plenty of rain, so I'll be definitely be using marine grease on my trucks. Many thanks for the info.
Medic "overkill" is one of the coolest trucks I've seen yet. it looks sooooo cool just sitting there on the bench with the plow and chains. picture "framing" quality for sure. can't wait to see it out plowing... Good Job Medic, good job.
that badass how the truck "sags" in the front from bearings being wore out, we have jumped my chevy and beat it so hard it does almost the exact same thing, great vids man
Hey something I tried for an addition to this vid, was instead of covering the servo in grease, I used liquid electrical tape. I still used the grease for the gear , and I'm was still able to undo the screws. I also went one step further and took the circut board out and did a layer on that just incase any water got in. I know you prolly know this already just putting my two cents in.
Medic, I'm enjoying going through your older videos! Lots of personality!! Yeah, I've been using Marine Grease for a very long time - and rarely have issues with my Rigs. Good stuff! Murph
Thanks, man. I thought I'd learned enough about bearings after sitting up last night, watching numerous how to car care videos but, I see now that I still need more lessons. That's okay though as I'd much rather learn the easy way that the "uh-oh!" way.
Hey man, really love your videos, adventure or informative. They're great, and funny. I always wondered how to waterproof properly, now I know. thanks for that. You're a very insperational guy too. Makes me wanna do what you do. Cheers from New Zealand.
i went there on vacation, my first time in canada, celebrated my 22nd birthday there. my friend said "if canadian tire comes here halfords is DONE" Halfords is a retailer of car parts, car enhancement, camping, touring and bicycles operating in the UK and Ireland. They also provide MOT (uk test to see if a vehicle is road legal), service and repairs in the UK through Halfords Autocentre
That's how I do my truck and on the rear axle I put silicone in the top holes . Servo is siliconed closed with marine grease on the horn and an o ring on the inside and outside of the casing . Just stripped my scx10 bearingings are sweet . There was water in my diff but the marine grease keeps it good . All my bearings are fine and If you see my vids you will see it's in the water alot . Nice video medic , it's trial and error and you have a system that works . I'm just like you . If a servo br
Great Video.Marine grease is awesome. I just started using it a couple months ago and it works great. Great idea with the servo. I am going to try that with my servo tomorrow.
I keep our Marine grease out in the garage, but since we keep our trucks in the house I filled up a couple of un-used syringes that we got from our vet with the stuff so when I do the maintenance I have small portions of the grease inside. Also it’s very portable for when we decide to go & run w/trucks in wet conditions
Hi again Aaron!! I'm SURE that I've seen AND commented on this Video before (on my other account)... but I had to see it again! 👍👍 THIS was the Video that started me using Marine Grease!!! Really. I've now watched your Videos from 9 years ago, and 21 hours ago..... You STILL have the SAME passion (*that's what She said!!!*) Keep doing what you do my friend, I'm going to be going through your older Videos again. Carmine 🚂
I used to watch your videos EVERY. Singlr time you uploaded around 2014 til about 2016 because i i lost all my rc's n now that im 18 and have a job i now have a few rcs and 1 drone. My most expensive rn is the TRAXXAS 2wd Slash. Now im back lol
hey man great vid so far ive just gotten a crawlerking and am starting to upgrade it so far ive already waterproofed all my electronics, removed the front foams still got to add weights to the front. thanks for the vid and ill get some good video off me offroading with my hpi crawlerking of it going in the water ive tested the stuff before i ever took it out to our local state park to drive in the lake
Hey medic, there is also a product I use for all my bearings, its a spray grease made by wurth., it is as thin as water so it gets past the seals, then the solvent evaporates and the grease is left. This grease is also waterproof and almost impossible to get off your hands.
Best way I've found for servos is to plasti dip them then grease around where the horn goes. That way the only place you have to worry about cleaning the grease off of is one spot. No sticky servo.Plus you don't have to take your servo off the truck every time you need to put grease on.
Medic, for the Honcho shell, I use angle body pins in the back. Easier to remove and install. You did awsome with one hand but doing it all day will hurt eventually, lol. Especially when your out trailing.
I bought that grease gun too from Canadian Tire but I picked up a tube Lucas X-tra Heavy Duty Grease. Virtually waterproo,f Extreme pressure additive, High-temperature applications, Stable in cold weather, Exceeds "lubed for life" specifications. The tube is over kill but its a one time buy for a very long time.
i buy marine grease for my boat lift and you are so right it is great!!!!!!!! And rcing is a hobby yout have to fi stuff right to have fun! this is graces brother by the way
Great Tip thanks Man. do it right the first time and have it last many more runs which will save you money and time, which means you get more fun as less down time.
The red grease high temp yea that's what I've been using I get it from work I'm a heavy equipment operator and yea it good grease but marine grease is a better grease for going under water trust me I know I've used every kind of grease and thank you medic for the videos always good info for everybody out there
Any why did i never do this to my rig? Oh thats right i did not know and now my yota is starting to really look like a toyota with the rust here and there lol i dont mind though but thanks for this video man, was very knowledgeable i found
you know, oddly enough.. when I was doing this style of video, back then.. people said they liked the older way.. even still. .. Heh.. at least the videos have been enjoyed by so many generations of RUclipsrs at one time or another :)
Hi Medic. Posting new vids is always good occupied time watching!.. And not to butt-in, thats what she said,..but Viewers, that whole bag of bearings Medic bought, it will only take about 1 1/2 hrs. to- pluck out one side of the bearing seals with an exacto, add some grease, 'not to much, causes drag x-20 plus bearings',clean the existing out IF u want with some wd40,press the seal back into the bearing with your fingers,done..and easy too. Did you ever try snow chains in mud Medic?.. Hmmmmm...
I've found something that works even better than marine grease, and that is plumbing Valve and Stem Grease, it is water proof and heat proof, this stuff thrives in a water enviroment, and doesn't break down over time. I use it both in my diffs, and axels, works awsome in boat prop shafts, also it doesn't attract dirt easily
I think today's vid was pretty funny medic! You seem more hyper than usual which is a laugh to see you like this coz yeah! PLEASE PUT THAT IMPRESSION IN SLOW-MO
I literally only use marine grease on everything that takes grease. From my scx10.2 to my 94 grand Cherokee with a 5.5 long arm lift(zerk fittings everywhere on the lift and components.) marine grease for life!
Hi i love your videos and i have one truck to its a 1/10th scale traxxas grave digger monster jam series and i have done lots of repairs on it and have always wanted to be like you. You are ny idol i watch all your videos and like all of them but i would like to ask if you could make a video of you making an rc course in a nearby forest or something thanks
I'm new to R.C. and I bought myself a slash for Christmas in 2016. I plan to try a clay track in town and wondering if Marine grease would be a good idea to coat around screw heads and drive shafts and everywhere dirt might get in like the outside of gear box where they join together?so all I would have to do is wipe the dusty grease off and then regrease, or would that cause too much drag and heat?. I have all purpose grease and a gun combo that was ment for my ball bearing mower wheels if that works also.
hey aron when ever i use really sticky grease like marine greese i wear latex gloves so when im done pull of and throw them hands are clean. thought i would give you this tip
the adhesive dissolves too quickly imo. But if you loosen the screws on your servo and slip the edge of the tape between the lid and tighten everything up it just might work like a gasket. Not sure, haven't tried
hey medic I just got an exc smash or ecx samsh (cant remember which but its by horizon hobbies an off brand of losi) is it a good product? and how would i go about water proofing it? oh and can any servo/motor take any amount of voltage? thanks for all the great videos i watch them everyday!
I have TrackPower Gear Grease TKPC8008 - It appears to have the same qualities and it is non sling, waterproof-blue lubricant etc. Do you think this is the same stuff branded for hobby?
Hi Medic please help me out!? In your How To Waterproof video you said the Grease you used is lithium based and in this video you say it is not? Can I use lithium based grease for my diff? I am not trying to waterproof it I am just trying to stiffen it up as it had no grease in it. Thanks. Great video non the less!
love halls videos I got a lot of nitro off road cars but had 4 battery one my summint is one cost the most and want keep it look good after I drive it like I Stoll it
Just an idea or better my opinion based on experience here in good old Germany, try LIQUI MOLY LM 47. "That's what she said" epic medic!!!
Thank you very much for that, caz mine have been neglected for years, and I'm just getting back into the hobby
This video is always great to watch. I share with all my friends who always ask about waterproofing!!!

"You don't have to break apart the axles in a month because your bearings are going EEEEE - EEEEE - EEEE"
I lost it. hahaha
Class is over for today !!! Awsome man !!!
thanks for this video! snows coming soon for me so i just made some snow chains and im getting ready to waterproof everything. love your videos!
Medic, I'm enjoying going through your older videos! Lots of personality!!

thank you mentor medic
What about the sand and grit that accumulates on the exposed grease, especially on the outside of an exposed bearing coated in grease?
i love when someone says "that's what she said" then like 5 seconds later they laugh because of it. My laugh reaction was the same as medics :P
lol dang I put 3 drops of liquid bearings an spun it by hand an ran it. I hope it didn't leak on my comm.. how would I know if it did? By the way Awesome videos"
i love this stuff so hard
just finish waterprofing my Maxam R10 Brushless 1:10 car with grease and Plasti Dip.
it works pretty nice.
Hallo From Denmark :D
I hope you can answer this question for me about diff oils, how do I make a choice in diff oil wt. in ft., ct. & re.? I'm still a little new to this hobby and I trying to find out what drives this decision?
Thanks.
do you have a video on how to get water out of foam tires.
Hey buddy what do you think of the Super Lube? Have you had any experience with it before? Which one is better for RC stuffs?
"Make sure they'll all slippery, then pop em back in place" HAHA
THANKS YOU SOOOO MUCH... SUPER USEFULL
Good idea
