  • The sparrows play an important role as insect controllers as they eat phenomenal numbers of insects. They depend exclusively on an insect diet to feed their young ones. Also as sparrows are abundant they act a food for birds of prey. Let us know more about it in this video.

Stop pollution from meat eating that is causing more environmental damage than all fossil fuel industry combined, chemicals have destroyed 80% of insect life, that the sparrows and other creatures feed on, stop using chemicals like glyphosate, and other herbicides and pesticides and spread the word meat eating is destroying everything...that would be a good start. Do your own due diligence to research, you could start with 'Cowspiracy' documentary....good luck

I live in Himachal pradesh and there are green forests next to my home and we do feed birds 2 times a day(morning and evening). Earlier we used to see 20-30 sparrows daily but not now anymore. Here they have proper food and water available and even plenty of places to make nests but still we can hardly spot any sparrow. It seems like 5G towers (not sure about 4G/3G) have definitely affected their population. Sad part is nobody is noticing it.

Sparrows obe of them last year a sparrow couple came and started eating the rice and drink water . Now they have become 3. Small female baby sparrow accompanying them. U forgot to add one important aspect about Sparrows, they only nest in home not on trees and today modern homes dont have any small hole so that they can nest in it. This is the biggest reason for their population collapsing. I bought a nest last year from amazon and sparrow has used it 3 times with 6 baby sparrows out till date and continues 😊

Please add tips to save them... Like creating small nests in trees or balconies... In TamilNadu we can see all the small small shop owners or homes they put some small boxes outside and make it a nest for these birds... It's working very well...Most of the boxes they use are Shoe boxes or some carton boxes only..
If you feel the box is sufficient for this bird, please make a small hole, fill 20% of it with some dry grass and just hang it outside your balcony... Within few weeks it'll adopt the nest...

I can proudly say that i am successfully able to attract sparrows in my balconies after the effort of 2 years.. patience is the key guys.. i installed nest box 2 years back but I didn't get the sucess until now.. i have so many plants in pots in my balcony, water in a mud pot.. i haven't given them food till now but i am going to arrange food also.. now after 2 years spparows not only have babies in all the 4 nest boxes but more sparrows enter in my house and take a full tour to search for a place for nest making but they can't find any place bcoz there is no such place for them :).. for luckily they now live in my balcony garden and u can hear them all day and their noise make my garden lively and lovely..

Keep water holes for bird. Bird sitting area, plates for seeds and water and a fruit tree attract birds. Trees provide them shelter and nesting facility. They eat insects, worms and give you back phosphorus rich waste. They help in seed disperse and flowering of vegetables.

I am really concerned to save and increase about this house sparrows. Suggestion is widespread awareness in the society is be carried out through all sorts of media publications to save this sparrow is required. Secondly, at various places small farm houses with full protection and feeding are required to be set up for settlement of this sparrow. For this, in all govt and private gardens a separate small farm to be introduced. etc.

I have also noticed the decrease of sparrows here for a while. One day I saw some sparrows trying to eat the seeds which I give to my other birds. I decided to give them some as well. From that day the number of sparrows kept increasing here. There are even babies and there are a total of 7 to 10 sparrows that stay here. They are not scared of me anymore. I feel so happy that I could give them a place where they can find various food and nest here. Pigeons, Myna, Crows, Tailorbird, etc come here now. My father does get a bit mad cuz they poop everywhere (lol).

Please suggest methods and what we can do to bring back sparrows in our areas. And any information about local organizations or people who are involved in doing. I'm from a small village, in my childhood or say 5-6 yrs back there were a lot of sparrows we use to see in the morning. But in recent yrs i realised that there are no more sparrows here even in villages like locality where I live!! I really missed them but not able to see even a single in these times....

Bro…. In positive sense…….Just like the Akshay kumar movie Robot 2.0 ,U have not mentioned the main reason for diminishing population of sparrows is chemical farming.
Pest killing chemicals are killing these sparrows. Sparrows make nest with raw paddy and wheat straws.
In gulf countries sparrow population has not reduced as there is no agriculture.
