      @@eddhardy1054 Cohle isnt hurting anyone. he's just a bummer to be around. hart is cheating on his wife while he has kids and then gaslighting her to convince her he's not. also cohle is willing to look the darkness in the eye and contemplate how to stop it where hart just wants to claim everything is simple and face value. every new discovery they make in the case is cause of cohle. worst case you can say that both guys over step their authority to do physical harm but neither is better than the other in that case.

    Marty is such a realistic character portrayal by Woody Harelson. ------- Marty has very big flaws in his personal life which cause so much more chaos to the relationship between the two characters. ------ AS a detective he can't hold a candle to Rust's intuition, but he's is integral to case management and interviewing leads. ------ Of course, you have so much to see with their professional and personal interactions.

    • @kiwitogrape
      @kiwitogrape Год назад +17

      I feel like Marty's flaws are so recognizable it makes him an easy character to hate, especially early in the season. While Rust's flaws, namely his nihilism, are easier for people to sympathize with because they happen to give him an edge on the investigation, and I think people romanticize characters like that.

    • @lethaldose2000
      @lethaldose2000 Год назад +14

      @@kiwitogrape I ageree with you, however we are getting to see behind the curtains of these two men. ------- In the real world if you met someone like Rust would not be able to stand being around him, becasue he's so raw. ------- Marty on the other hand is more personable and easy to like. -------- We don't see the turmoil and crama goin on behind the scenes, since Marty is so good at keeping his activites in the dark.

    • @kiwitogrape
      @kiwitogrape Год назад +12

      @K2da _G I guess my point was just that Rust's character arc is him overcoming his nihilism, and people excuse and romanticize that version of him that was damaging to him and the people around him. Meanwhile they (rightly but myopically) focus on Marty's infidelity and chauvinism because it's easy for them to grasp as a flaw.

    As someone who worked in Law Enforcement, saying that Hart is looking for the easy way out, well it almost always is the easy answer or the usual conclusion. Its very rare for something to go as deep as this story, so yeah Hart has some of his own Demons, but man so has Cohle. They both are doing their jobs. Hart is not a bad cop. He may be a bad husband, but not a bad cop. You need to give this story time to play out.

      Here's what actually happened: The girls reacting here have such a hatred for Marty that they let it unreasonably cloud their judgement - so much so that they'd rather side with someone who was *literally pimping out children* than accept Marty was right in that scene. That's messed up.
      Hell, it doesn't even matter what outlook you take. Prostituting children for money is a thousand times worse than cheating, no matter the angle. Unfortunately few friends like friends who hold them accountable. I once got to a point where people only showed up because they needed someone to be honest with them, sometimes to their own actions. Which is fine... But, idk... Just come hang out, sometime?

    CI's are Confidential Informant's. So, the identities of your Informant's, or snitches, are on a need to know basis. Basically, if they're close enough to the target, the informant already has a target painted on their back too, so you can't risk their identities by just talking shit with your fellow officers, because you never know who's dirty/on the take.

    As someone who did a lot of acid and coke and downers in college, those trippy flashbacks were shit gets distorted…that actually does happen. Sober 10 years and every once in a blue moon, I got make myself sit down and wait for it to pass.
    With that said, I highly discourage just driving thru it and white knuckling it like Matthew does 😅

    Along the shore the cloud waves break,
    The twin suns sink beneath the lake,
    The shadows lengthen
    In Carcosa.
    “ Strange is the night where black stars rise,
    And strange moons circle through the skies
    But stranger still is
    Lost Carcosa.
    “ Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
    Where flap the tatters of the King,
    Must die unheard in
    Dim Carcosa.
    “ Song of my soul, my voice is dead;
    Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
    Shall dry and die in
    Lost Carcosa.”

    The thing about True Detective is that it isn't like your standard crime drama. It's so full of minuscule details that can be missed if you don't pay attention. It doesn't hold your hand through the show either. It just tells the story how it is, how it wants to.

    Not going to lie, the way you reacted to that prostitution scene like it was some "badass girl boss" moment really rubbed me the wrong way. The fact that you don't like Marty, and that the woman had some kind of feministic response to his concerns, has absolutely no bearing in the fact that *she was pimping out an underage child.* Unless you're literally pro-child prostitution, you should NOT have been nodding your heads and agreeing with her on that scene.
