Nice job. We are all learning. The only way to learn is to experiment! The best part of this craft is that we get to “create” and perhaps someday even sell our creations. I just love giving my creations as gifts.

Ahron, another creative project. We all sometimes need to evaluate "on the fly" if we don't like the way the project is going. I have made a number of small Christmas tree ornaments by the inside out method, It is fun, for sure. A suggestion - number the ends of the pieces befoer you start, it is easier to figure out how they go together later. I do envy you your supply of padauk - too expensive for me here in the USA. I recall you saying that it is plentiful in South Africa - lucky you!

What a cool idea Ahron. A tip on inside out. Set the blockers together the way thay will be at the end. Number them and draw an arrow toward the center on each one. That way you know both the direction and the posi6of each one. Also, it's easier to figure out the inside of you draw the design you want then cut out one side of the shape and use the outside that you cut away as a template. I hope that makes sense. It makes it MUCH easier to visualize. To help prevent bubbles, either a pressure pot or slow resin. The slower it cures, the better chance for the bubbles to release.

Loved the piece although have never integrated resin into any of my pieces. Any time I’ve turned a resin blank, I’ve used sanding pieces up to 12000 grit and then a fine car paint cutter like T-Cut to get a glass-like finish. Not sure if that would work on a piece like your vase but might be worth a try, even if only to eliminate it as a possibility. Keep up the good work.

The papa is excellent, been watching Gary for years.
Your inside turning was a little rough which shows now you have it turned around. Gouges would have left a better finish with this soft timber.(is it cedar)
If you number each piece in corner then it’s easy to turn inside to out.
Pleased you refinished it. Does look better.
Waste of time turning inside out as you can’t really see the inside at all.
Learn how to use sharp gouges and you’ll get a much better finish off the tool.
Carbides do have a use but I find then good at turning burls and roughing down really hard hardwoods,, I’m from Australia and Aussie hardwoods do benefit from carbide.
    Thanks for sharing

I love paduk but it think the resin was too much the same color. IMO it should have been a little lighter. 👍

Before you separate the wood, mark the top (top end) of the project with numbers or letters and you can put the all back the way they were glued to start

I didn't notice on the comments but when you first clue that together number the ends 1-4 and put arrows to the inside to show where you were and then when you take them apart you put them together with the arrows facing out. This will help to reassemble.

Pretty nice. I think the resin would have stood out more if there was more yellow showing through, but still beautiful. And I’ve never seen anybody do an inside-out turning and then fill it with resin!

Well done Ahron. I like it. Where do you buy your resin from. I heard you say in one of your other videos but can't remember. I am from PE. Here it is very expensive.

I think you are supposed to label them 'A', 'B', 'C' and 'D' so when you turn them inside out it's 'D', 'C', 'B' and 'A'...or something like that. Anyway, it is supposed to make them easier to put the item together backwards. I think I saw that on Oliver Gloomis' You Tube channel...or ThePapa1947's channel...someone like that. I'm glad you saved some of the shavings...looking forward to seeing that project. Hampshire Sheen puts a great shine on things.

I know Carbides make take away a lot of risk of catches, but you get more tare out and the edges of your design are not as crisp. Your video at time 1:20 you can see after the parting tool that there is a lot of torn grain and lifted fibers on the edges. cutting in with a spindle gouge or a skew chisel would have made all the difference. I have demoed the Inside-out ornament twice for my guild, Alamo Woodturners Association is the channel name.
