      @Kaboom Baby i mean i am a fan of jim from all the way back in the destructoid days, and his politics piss off chuds, since he is openly anti capitalist. and while most people can agree to disagree since he has a legitimate, evidence backed point of view, some people are pissed off by that. well that and his alleged defense of "censorship" (read he is ok with content being cut for sensibility reasons- again corporations do far worse and it is absurd to be pissed off that)

    • @livedandletdie
      @livedandletdie 5 лет назад +17

      @Mario Mirabal, I'm openly capitalistic, but I'm not an idiot, I don't think that what these companies do is capitalism at all, it's pure exploitation, capitalism by definition is meant to increase both parties value, take the good old story about how capitalism should work, Bob is hungry, so Bob goes to Bart the baker to buy bread, Bob gives Bart some money, and Bart gives Bob a piece of bread, Both Bob and Bart are happy about this, because Bart earned a percentage of Bob's work which he can use to improve his life or business, meanwhile Bart helped Bob to improve his life via alleviating Bob's hunger.
      It's a win-win situation, that's how pure capitalism should be looked at.
      And yes, Jim's a bit of a right cunt sometimes, but everyone can't be a perfect human being, I for once don't brush my teeth, but I'm otherwise pretty normal, except for my belief that Death is indeed a good thing, and that all people who intentionally wants to exploit others should be granted Death in the most hasteful manner possible.

    For those wondering which Cassandra being quoted here, this is from Wikipedia
    "Cassandra was cursed to utter prophecies that were true but that no one believed. The older and most common versions state that she was admired by the god Apollo, and he offered her the gift to see the future in order to win her heart. Cassandra agreed to be his lover in return to his gift, but after receiving the gift, she went back on her word and refused him. Apollo was angered that she lied to and deceived him, but since he couldn't take back a gift already given, he cursed her that though she would see the future accurately, nobody would ever believe her prophecies.
    Some of the later versions have her falling asleep in a temple, where snakes licked (or whispered in) her ears so that she could hear the future.[a]"

    I'll put it like this. He once reviewed a bad steam game called "Slaughtering Grounds" and called it an absolute failure. To make a long story short, the "developer" went insane...
    By trying to censor Jim, including copyright strikes, censoring the steam forums, videos attempting to insult Jim (but made us all laugh instead), threatened a bunch of steam users... well, it all ends up with Digital Homicide getting banned on Steam and failing to actually sue Jim Sterling - for 10 to 15 MILLION dollars. Jim kinda loves to troll his detractors. He once got harassed by rabid fans for giving Breath of the Wild a 7/10 and nowadays he'll put it back up again whenever he can to playfully trigger the little whiners. I don't bring this up to agree or think that any of those reactions are justified (Quite frankly, you couldn't be more fucking childish or weak nowadays if your only means of expressing negative opinions about someone boil down to cringe and sjw accusations), but i'd like to make abit of clarity.

    It's not exactly a "chicken and egg" thing. People don't respect mobile games, because the complexity of the games has to be dumbed down by necessity, by virtue of the limitation of control a player can have in the medium. It's irrational to hate on mobile games, if they were just another platform for PC games, because then there wouldn't be any distinction between them, but in fact there is, the complexity.
    The issue about attitude of developers towards players, and the reaction vise versa inflamed from that is a secondary thing, that also spawned after the fact. The problem here is, the attitude of gamers towards mobile is passive, the alienation of developers towards gamers is hostile.

      Social institutes and services that are available via government are what makes people have less natural selection in our daily life, so people who weren't lucky with what nature gave to them or with their parents have more chance to live tolerably. Of course, there is a bad side of this (welfare leeches, corruption) but it's better than not having this. Can't imagine how fun it might be to live in the US, being on the borderline poverty situation and accidentally break the leg.

    Currency in video games serves both to disconnect you from your money, but also to force you buy fixed amounts of currency for stuff that never costs the exact amount of currency that you bought, which forces you to spend money for leftover currency that you'll never use. Fking brilliant.

      @oneslimeboy rimuru tempest the biggest brain takes of the century. Socialism is when the workers collectively own the means of production, does that sound like the soviet union to you? No it wasnt, it was an authoritarian regime where the government controls the means of production. Just like fascism, this is why people say socialism hasnt been tried because it hasnt. When people advocate for worker coops they arent advocating for stalinism, they just want capital to be democratically owned instead of being owned by a capitalist

      @oneslimeboy rimuru tempest capitalism was at one point in the same stage, mercantilism was an utter failure as it was a warped version of what we now know as capitalism. Many socialized programs work tremendously like universal healthcare much like how some aspects of mercantilism worked seeing as it was part of what would be modern day capitalism

    Scientific Revenue actually seems a fair and good idea.
    Not sure if in practice it can still be, because I suspect that an entry level player would pay more than an established player which already has been profiled and is far more predictable.
    But other variables like: location, type of phone, wallet spend... could make way to adjusted prices for people who are less fortunate than others, instead of having the same prices for low-class, middle-class, high-class.
