      Hello Anthony,
      well, the original photo wasn't bad either. But the edited image is really sensational. I wouldn't have thought of all these editing steps. Your tutorial is obviously very helpful.
      Maybe you could write a manual on editing in Luminar Neo. Just an idea and suggestion for the future. My best wishes and a nice weekend, Alfred.

    When I saw the discount I grabbed your sky collection. OMG - I'm so glad I did! I've collected skies for a long time but these are the best by far. Great quality, beautiful and ridiculously good value. Thanks so much!

    One can never have too many skies-done!! Great tips! Your video just gave me an idea I had not previously considered-ever tried Color Transfer to match the sky/foreground?

      Nice one! I like the idea of using color transfer. Definitely worth an experiment!

    Thanks for another really interesting look at editing in Luminar. I've been using a few tools to add some finishing touches to my work but I'm starting to use it for the whole edits of my personal photography. You've definitely inspired me on that journey. Looking forward to trying some of your skies!

    DAMN Bro! So much info taken from this lesson!
    I don't do a lot of landscapes, but so much of this info here is useable across other photographic disciplines.
    But I do have one recent landscape I did a few months back that I am going to re-edit and see if I can inject (to use one of your terms) some of these tips into that image and see what I get.
    I find that I retain more of this info if I actually try and use the lesson in an image.
    Again, thanks Anthony!

    The few times I have used skyswap, it felt like cheating. I knew the sky didn't look like that when the photo was taken, and I felt this was obvious to others. Now I am to the point where I want my photo to represent a feeling and not necessarily reality. The ways you use in this video show how to put so much more atmosphere into a photo, without it looking too artificial. The result is beautiful! Thanks for another interesting tutorial, Anthony! (I gave the skyswap collection to myself for my birthday :) )

    My go to Luminar guy, great job as always! I asked a question in a previous tutorial on whether or not you had any tutorials on the cloning tool. I know this isn't the video for that, but I was curious. I am having difficulty learning how to move the cursor around during a clone, and on the video, you did it so effortlessly. Newbie here.

      Hi! I reckon this vid should help you out: ruclips.net/video/iFsKtjnAKQs/видео.html but I've done a an updated full video on cloning (and every other tool in Neo and how to use it) in my upcoming course due for imminent release! Anthony--great masterclass! Thanks for spending the countless hours to produce that monster! But I have a question I've not found an answer to anywhere on sky replacements. Every once in a while I come across a photo where the Mask Refinement sliders simply fail. Skies around branches and solid structures with straight delineations against the background (like a roof, building, or monument etc) seem to produce these blotchy patch-like anomalies where the original sky persists and no amount of adjustment of the sliders will get rid of them. Masking is of no use since it only affects the introduction of the new sky and the patches of original sky persist. What on earth do you do then? Is blending in a replacement similar in character the only option? That seems to defeat the point and purpose of doing a replacement in the first place, but it appears to be the only recourse. Frustrating the mask (I assume there must be two for some reason) that removes the original sky appears to be inaccessible.

      A great observation and question. And yep, that's a real annoyance when the AI mask just can't get it's teeth into the nooks and crannies to fully replace the sky area. There are some techniques that can be employed though. They're more fiddly though and beyond the scope of writing in a comment, but, basically you have the option to combine the Sky replacement with an actual layer which gives you full access to a mask - not just what the sky AI thinks should be masked. You can also use skies, loaded as layers, in different blend modes so they affect the sky you're replacing rather than the foreground (overlay, multiply, darken, etc) again in conjunction with a layer mask.
      Without a full demo it's hard to fully explain it but I'll consider it for a future vid. I covered skies quite a bit in my course so I might need a bit of a break first though :)

    I do use sky swaps when appropriate. Not with documentary or news.

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  Месяц назад

      For sure. You gotta choose the right time to do this technique, and as you say, documentary and news definitely isn't it.

    Let me start by saying imo no one does Luminar tutorials better than you Anthony. This one was no exception, really excellent. Two comments:-
    1) purely by experimentation and dumb luck, I have already been using the neon&glow tool to help deal with ‘sun issues’ in my edit (I say issues, as mainly in my case to help disguise blown out highlights). However - for some reason my version of the tool must be different from yours, as I have a sub menu when I first select the tool, where I have to select glow first before using it. I’ve watched the video a few times and you don’t seem to have to do that.
    2) this maybe be controversial - and slightly hypocritical as I use all of the other creative tools in Neo - but sky replacement has always been a step too far for me. I don’t use sky replacement in any editing tool. Looking at your video is tempting me to reconsider though!

    Great lesson. Very useful tips. Question: When I take sky photos to build up my own library should I use JPG or RAW.

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  Месяц назад

      I'd shoot in raw for maximum editing possibilities. Then edit the shot to maximise all the details (ie make sure nothings blown-out and you have the full dynamic range visible) and the look you're after, but then save it as a nice high quality jpeg. It's much easier to work with jpegs for sky swaps. So as long as you pre-process your photo from the initial raw you'll get the best of both worlds.

    Great post! Question: Do you think is necessary to get Topaz if I have luminar Neo...? thanks!

    • @AnthonyTurnham
      @AnthonyTurnham  Месяц назад

      Depends which version of Topaz and what you're wanting to do with it. But for me, it's a no-brainer must have. I love bit.ly/gigapixel-ai and now my personal fave, cos it's like the holy trinity of upscale, sharpen and denoise is bit.ly/TopazPhotoAI Personally I'm a big fan, but I sell big prints that I need to upscale and in my opinion Neo can't get close to the results from Topaz.

    I saw, that we can change sky in the presets (f.e. Preset "Scenery collection - More volume". Can we change existing sky with own sky in that presets or cannot?
