I listen to him first time at 1979 on enigmatic ocean album of Jean luc ponty.....(it was a schok oh my Lord Jesus) & Gong group..... I deeply believe that he wasn't a simple human being... For me he was AVATAR devine incarnation he came in earth to show us a new way He's own New scales New sound New chords New soloing way I saw him in Athens 2006 giving a gig with his band... (that was my dream and it was a gift from God to see from close such amazing person...) So humble So unique God bless he's soul..
The ending is awesome. It's always interesting to me to watch a master falter momentarily and see how they react, especially when they tank the ending of their own song. I'm sure he was mortified but to me, it was totally endearing.
You can tell he was extremely concerned with performance. Everyone has always been so impressed with Allan, except Allan. A true musician and technician (probably too much of a perfectionist). I love how he is scanning the music during his solo to root himself in the chord structure (and go way out if he wanted to). Thank you for posting this artifact of a master in time.
何瑞 , in fact there is almost no similarity to Coltrane in Allan's impro's. Totaly different harmonic approach. They both play fast with lots of notes but there the comparison stops.
何瑞 , ah, ok, i understand. There many out there who beleive Allan has the same harmonic approach just because they here this fast fluid lines, and that's totaly wrong.
It's a pitty the poor audio quality. Allan is totally kicking ass here, maybe one the best performances of this piece, which I love! Thanks for the upload anyways, it's always great to watch the maestro in full action!
Ese maravilloso y privilegiado oído de Allan...si no estaba conforme con el sonido,lo hacía notar al instante....¡ Eterno,Grande Allan allá arriba !....Te querremos por siempre....
Amazing as always. The riff beginning at the tail-end of @3:18 ending right before 3:23 sounds like something I actually may be able to learn...sometime...in my lifetime...what a freak!
The end cracks me up. If i know Allan correctly he was thinking: "Thank god my dad was'nt around to witness that". I've only Seen him make a Face when the synthaxe was Teasing him but This This is just funny. Love How he handles the mistake.
I've always been fascinated by medieval attire. Seems to have an unworldly strangeness to It. It seems like what people might wear on another planet millions of light years away in another galaxy perhaps. Maybe allan was too judging by the album cover
He curls his indexfinger and presses the pick up against his hand/palm. A very common/standard thing to do. Watch @5:27 when he gets his pick ready again.
can't watch. the sound is just horrendous. pure distortion. i thought there was good audio of this concert.. i say this with sorrow as i hear ernet's amazing solo while i try to shut down this tab on my ancient and slow computer. allan never made a studio recording with ernest,. alas
The magic of Holdsworth. Transcendent music. Shepherding us to the divine.

Allan's music and playing truly are the closest thing to magic that I have heard and witnessed in my life. Unbelievable!
NOBODY can compare to Allan

Phil Sackett I was just thinking that! Such a mountain of a musician and still hyper concerned over a little flub like that. His solo was gorgeous!
Nobody would have known the difference if he hadn't given it away.
You can tell he was extremely concerned with performance. Everyone has always been so impressed with Allan, except Allan.

@@hschoville then he runs the chords a couple times after and corrects himself.
Utterly unrivaled in this style, no one will ever come close.
I sure hope not
his "mistake" or hesitation and the resulting slide made the music actually more interesting. incredible playing!
rest in paradise maestro -we miss you already
Mr. Holdsworth was the greatest. So sad I never got to see him live.
His solo was supremely divine.
Un Maestro, Genial y creativo. Dios lo tenga en su Gloria.
Absolutely unbelievable solo
That last reaction mad me cry..ohh allan wish i could meet u earlier
may your soul be with the angels Allan
If you like John Coltrane, how can you not fall in love with Allan Holdsworth?? 如果你喜欢科川,你怎么会不爱阿兰
何瑞 , in fact there is almost no similarity to Coltrane in Allan's impro's.
Totaly different harmonic approach. They both play fast with lots of notes but there the comparison stops.
André Orsel For me, I like musician playing fast with dense notes in the improvisation. That's why I made the earlier statement.
何瑞 , ah, ok, i understand.
There many out there who beleive Allan has the same harmonic approach just because they here this fast fluid lines, and that's totaly wrong.
André Orsel Allan's improv way is unique, so was Trane's in 1960s. Different uniqueness. Both legends to me.
对!
Fantastic Guitarist❤.RIP
Allan was just an amazing artist.a beautiful human being. .
1:32 the lick
Good catch!

I just came to say... fantastic! And RIP. Better to find this music later than never.

@@SymphonyFantastique Thanks for that!
Great Rhythm section, only 1 Alan 🎶👌
Always the best
Hell yea!
Indeed.
Legendary guitarist
In my simple opinion this the top that the music could be. Nothing can be perfect like that. Allan is not from this world. I tell you guys. He is not.
1:31 lol
👅
Adam neely on bass
yeah dude
It almost seems to me he came to an even greater understanding of the song.
He's devastated but nobody noticed because of the delirium induced by the last 7 minutes.
I love this but man it would be nice the rest of the band!!! I mean he's not playing by himself!!!
It was done by some fan with a phone so he probably wanted to watch Allan comp. But I agree with you.
Fuck yeah I was waiting for the camera to pan over. Dissapointed
LOL...7 minutes of glorious playing, but that final chord seems to really tick him off!
4:31 godz... how?
6:56 FUUUCKKK!!!
lol
lmao
Ha ha. You felt the need to edit FUUUCKKK!!!? Was it bereft in Ks?
Wow, does that TV have a built in VCR and a DVD player?

The sound is terribly overdriven ,who recorded this ?!

@@SymphonyFantastique simply astonishing
I was gonna say how I love that Allan looks happy.
Ian from the H3podcast in his 70s*
Where exactly did he leave the pick while playing with his fingers?
He curls his indexfinger and presses the pick up against his hand/palm. A very common/standard thing to do. Watch @5:27 when he gets his pick ready again.
Allan didn't quite get the chord in time. He couldn't believe it!
The man could play but that gave me a headache
who was the drummer?
No one knows , its a complete mystery!
It was either Johnny Invisible Jones, or Harry “Please don’t film me because i’m very shy” Smith
Sounds like Joel Taylor
I don't think I've seen him that mad at himself since the live performance of was there? in the Tokyo dream video.

Good God. All in some ratty music store with like 30 people in it.
he is so embarresed at the end by the drummer making a big exit lmao
damn too bad the sound sucks
dommage pour le son c horrible quel gachis insupportable d ecouter une si belle musique avec ce son .....tant pis quelle super compo par contre
Absolutely hideous noise. Truly awful.
