    After a recent serious injury being thrown from my horse, I am unable to ride for at least a year, maybe more. People think I should get rid of this horse (I have had him under a year). You have given me a goal and a purpose again. Even if I don't ride again, there is so much joy in having this horse,

      Hope things are going well, people are stupid, horses are smart, keep the horse. Any horse can be trained to do what you need.

    It’s a joy to watch someone so soft with a horse, yet show leadership and focus. Timing is spot on regarding cues, pressure and release. Very nice work!

    I'm loving this video series! I've done a lot of the first video with my mare, but it's really great to have refresher courses and to get ideas for new exercises.
    One question: my mare has diminishing sight in her left eye, and we will likely have to remove it soon. This has made some liberty and other ground work difficult when I'm on her blind side. Have you ever trained any blind horses before, or do you have any tips?

      victoryfarm280 If I could guess, I’d bet your horse is better going counterclockwise. My horse did this for a while. Horses are usually more familiar with people on their left side (leading, haltering, saddling, mounting) so my guess is he is more comfortable viewing you with his left eye. I solved my horse’s problem with this my doing a heck of a lot more front his right side 👍

    Hey there! This video was super helpful! I have a question for you- So I've recently adopted an older horse, who I think was liberty trained earlier on in her life, because of the way she positions herself and a few other cues she gives me while I try to lunge her. Anyways, my question is, how do you (if ever) signal to your horse that you want them to go out to lunge?
    Thank you in advance. Lovely video, and beautiful horses!!

    Hey so, I’m teaching my 2 yo mustang to lay down with this method and she’s got the head down and front feet down, but when I’m trying to have her move her back legs under her she picks up the front feet first (still with her head down) and then the back, and sometimes she starts pawing and acting like she might lay down, I’m still rewarding her I was just wondering if that’s ok too?

    Hi, I’m trying to do liberty training with an Arab who was abused when she was little. We have created a bond in just 3 days of ground work. Today she would follow me without having to use the lead rope but then she would get distracted and walk away. How can I keep her engaged and attentive?? She’s also easily distracted by the gate where she know s she goes out from. Any suggestions anyone?

    I have a question on how get your horse to pay attention to you.
    I own a year old gelding that I've had since he was 4 months old, he has been having a hard time paying attention to me, usually I just flick my wip to get my horses attention, but nothing spooks him so he ignores it, do you have any suggestions that might help me?

    What if the horse just starts grazing when I take all the equipment off her? I don't want to pull her back up, because I want her to want to do this... I've tried putting a treat next to her mouth and bringing it up and giving it to her when her head is all the way up, but after a while she just starts grazing again... I only did part one with her though. I will eventually do part two and three too, but we just started liberty today so I don't want to rush anything. I reward her with a treat or I pet her. When she starts loosing interest (before she starts grazing) I quickly reward her for what she just did (she usually does everything great until then) but sometimes she would just start grazing like 20 seconds later, or after a little more time. Any advice?

      Hey! Start in a small dirt area... either a small paddock or a roundpen. Honestly, I work with the lines on for a few weeks and get them really solid and tuned in before I even consider taking off the halter. I also keep them in a small area like I said, with limited distractions (at the start) and reward them for just the littlest tries

    • @johannaszikszai977
      @johannaszikszai977 5 лет назад

      Sam VanFleet Thank you for the advice! She has been taught to follow my shoulders in walk, trot and canter and turn. She usually does that perfectly. That's why I took off the halter. We don't really have a round pen, but I guess I could try practicing it in her paddock where there is no grass. But the one thing I am afraid about the most, is her leaving me there.. I don't want to force anything on her. Will the horse want to do Liberty after a while? (I mean she did it great without the halter too for a little while, but then she got distracted by the grass. 😂)
