Nice video, I had a great experience flying Finnair business class from SIN-HEL-EDI and back in 2018, travel agent found super cheap flights and they were awesome. Looks like their economy class is great as well though!

Great video. Let's hope when Finnair updates the interiors they include coat hooks on the seat. I agree it was a rather sad portion for breakfast for a 14 hour flight. Love the cabana and looks like you enjoy it, too.

Great review, Jayden. I think Finnair is one of those airlines on my list to try. I like the modern look and feel of their airplanes and clean interiors. The food looked okay, but starter and main dish were too similar I found. That lounge in HK, what a delight! Unfortunately I won't be able to use it when I transit and will have to use The Pier one, but hey, I won't complain, it's already good enough. But I liked the menu at The Wing -- I would have chosen the Billecart Salmon champagne for sure. Jayden, as always, fly safe and thanks for all your updates!

Good review as always! It’s really a shame that Finnair cuts down on food offering due to “sustainability”, while we know that it’s mainly due to cost cutting. On the bright side, at least both meals are hot (unlike Lufthansa and some other airlines) and the cabins are really modern, and I’d say Finnair is still worth flying nowadays
Totally! I’m in the Helsinki business lounge now. Both times I was here this month, their platinum wing was closed. Very disappointed. I came all the way here hoping I could use the sauna :/

Really love The Cabanas inside CX The Wing FCL Lounge. 42L is really a solid seat - love the legroom and direct aisle access! AY's dinner looks delicious. However, the portions as well as the number of servings on a 14-hour flight leave one wondering how much cost-cutting has AY embarked on.
CX HKG PER (6h 50m) has about the amount of food!

Very surprised to see a TAAG Angola 777 in Hong Kong. I worked in Angola for 9yrs and fortunately only used them once from Johannesburg to Luanda. The planes were old and worn out.
Best part of this whole video is when your MUM was holding the sandwich for you to take a bite... Sooo sweet, Jayden and that's how precious memories are made.. 😍👌🏾🙏🏾

It's quite sad to see how quiet and empty HKG is. Nice review here. The interior looks beautiful. I love the shades of blue light onboard. Virgin America used to have a feature where you could order beverages on the IFE.

Jayden, we were on the same flight on 8/11😂, my seat was 5L. So Amazing, that flight was very smooth and I ate a lot throughout the whole flight.

Hi Jayden, great Finnair video! Was it only the alcoholic drinks that you had to purchase? I heard they only offer you one alcoholic beverage per long haul flight. Can you purchase (better) food as well? In my opinion that was quite a cheap flight! How far out did you purchase these tickets, and were you using a VPN when purchasing them?
yep, so free wine for the first meal, and payable afterwards. Additional snacks (no hot food) and alcoholic drinks are available for purchase too.
I purchased the flight just when HK announced quarantine-free travel so just less than two months in advance :)
And no VPN needed because it was booked through Finnair's HK website, it turned out to be the cheapest site of all

Only 1 option for a meal is kind of disappointing in my opinion, You took this flight before the pillow removal as well I guess. Really wondering if they will change that again as I really do prefer having a pillow on the plane without having to fill my carry on with my own.

A pillow is something so small but gives so much more comfort, them taking it away is quite dissapointing. Probablt because they weigh too much hahaha
I sat in the same seat on the opposite side on Malaysian A350 LHR to KL, great seat, but being 1.90m, I banged my head when l went to the toilet on the overhead bins.

It's interesting to see Finnair seemed to have used an entirely HK-based crew for its flight between HK & HEL. Heard the carrier is outsourcing its cabin crew to save cost. Do you have any idea of that since you have taken the flight?
Yeah HKG crew are cheaper and Finnair have been using HKG crew only on basically all HKG flights for nearly a decade now. Occasionally you’ll see a Finnish crew. Thanks for watching!
Just out of curiosity, did you pay for the seat beforehand, or was it possible to choose a seat during check-in?

I took AY from Asia to Europe in Y class end of September. I too am very disappointed at the catering. Not even a choice for main dish. My KUL - BKK sector offered better meal. I would say the catering is borderline budget airlines standard, with everything purchase on board except juice and water. Really poor for the amount of money I paid for, and it was not cheap.
Great video. I’ve always enjoyed Finnair but this service looks a bit Spartan. And, as you say, the 14 hour duration reduces the benefits of flying via Helsinki. Cheers!
Hello Jayden, really interesting video. But no mention of the routing you took HKG-HEL. So did you take the southerly route over Kazakhstan or did you take the 'Polar' route over Alaska ? I ask because Finland is a nordic country and therefor AY might have used the northern route. Your stay at the Berlin Hilton brought back old memories for me as I stayed in the same hotel twice in the 1990s. Berlin Hilton was one of the last hotels to be constructed in that capital city before the GDR (East German) government collapsed. It was built to a high standard with help from the West (construction firms from Scandinavia etc) because it was a time when the East German government was starting to open its country to the West ... hence the construction of Western-quality hotels.
Ah How could I have missed that info! We took the southerly route, basically up north towards Russia then a left turn towards Western Asia and Southern Europe. A right turn just when we were over/near Turkey

@@JaydenWong No problem. I first stayed there in August1992 (and took the family back for a visit a few years later). Yes by modern standards it won't equate to the best but you have to remember the era when it was constructed. It was never opened as Hilton. E Germany government would have assigned its own name but after the Wall came down all the Western hotel firms rushed in and took over the best hotels. I also stayed at the Hilton in Dresden in 1992 - another hotel opened in the dying days of the GDR. One airport I am sure you forgot to see is Berlin Tempelhof. Opened in the 1930s but closed for many years. It's now an historical building (terminal closed to the public I believe ... but not the airfield though) and so close to Berlin Mitte (where you stayed).

Great review as usual. The lounge food looked so tasty...it's a shame HK airport is so deserted hopefully the HK govt will rejoin the rest of the world easy travel.no checks. No restrictions. I go back to visit .happy travels .
Totally! Can’t wait and we’re getting closer. From Monday arrivals will ‘only’ have to do a test at the airport and once more on their 3rd day in HK. No longer need to do tests on the 5th and 7th day.

At least they still provide a second hot meal, did you know that Air France does not provide a proper second hot meal on ALL of their long haul flights including the 14h flight to SIN? You now only get a cheap takeout box with a cheap sandwich reminiscent of your primary school field trip.

Finnair economy catering is better than JAL Premium Economy LAX-Narita, pre-pandemic. In fact most of my experiences onboard JAL are flimsy and cheap. Most memorable was Yoshinoya in premium economy with barely any beef and sticky onion soaked in rice. My seat-mate was a black lady coming home from Tokyo, who stated “what the heck are they servicing ? I should have flown AmericanAirlines “
That seat in front of you looked really awful with no window. And I' not sure I'd want to be staring at your feet that whole flight if I were seated there. Also, how can you access the aisle without bumping against the passenger immediately in front of you? It all looks very awkward.
Haha yes and the couple in front did in fact paid for those seats, they just wanted the extra legroom. It's possible to not bump against the passenger sitting in the middle seat in front of me, the only reason I bumped into him was because he was man-spreading LOL, which of course he had the space and right to

I’m not so much of a kebab guy so I couldn’t say much. But mum said the exact same thing as you. She’s LOVES kebabs and used to have it all the time when she lived in the UK way before I was born. She said the one in Berlin was the best one she’s ever had, and only for €6!

Finnair was great, now is very bad, no food choice, Wi-Fi sometimes not work, food meals a very small
In fairness AY has been badly affected with the Russian overflying ban. Its long-haul network features mostly routes to Asia and it (the network) has had to be drastically reduced. But AY is making an effort to restart a few Asian routes.
I don’t know if you have noticed this but there is thing known as covid-19, most european airlines dont have food choices (on board) in economy. Finnair has restored it to business class tho. Wi-fi works on finnair as well as you can expect, so decent. Sure, the 2nd meal was small, that is once again because of this pandemic and the closure of russian airspace, which has impacted Finnair’s economic situation. AY is lacking do to their own cost cutting, but it is pretty similar to what other european airlines did during covid.
