And Jason Giambi's 4th grand slam of the year was the 12th for the A's in 2000, tying the MLB record set the previous year by the Indians. But in 2000, it wasn't unusual. 5,693 home runs were hit across the majors for another record. So too were the 176 grand slams hit. The MLB ERA was 4.76, while the AL ERA was over 5. I think, what, 76 players had 30 home runs or more. Todd Helton, as many know, flirted with .400 going into September, but still finished with a .370 clip to win the batting crown. In Anaheim, Darin Erstad collected 240 hits, 16 shy of George Sisler's record.
Make sure to let us know why did the Oakland-Tampa game on Sunday September 17 is gonna get canceled once SW561 uploads it. I cannot find anywhere why it was canceled, but I doubt it was a hurricane, since the Mariners played in Tampa on Monday September 18. Im guessing either electricity problems or construction problems at the Trop. Because that Oakland-Tampa game almost had too much significance for tiebreaker purpose, kinda like the possible Yankee-Marlins game that got canceled earlier in the season would have had.
Chipper Jones hitting another home run off Randy Johnson. WOW, Chipper OWNS Randy. But Dbacks won, thanks to Randy great start with double digit strikeouts as always. So it was Randy versus Glavine, maybe the two best left handed starting pitchers in baseball history. Javy Vasquez sticking it to my struggling choking Mets. But Ive always loved Javy Vasquez pitching repertoire. Mets now lead Dbacks by 3 games in Wild Card.
What a blast by McGuire. Shame that when the Cardinals are finally gonna be competitive again since they got Mac, Mac is gonna be too injured to be effective in both 2000 and 2001.
Especially since CSN was a couple years in by that time. Usually the only games not televised back then were the occasional weekday afternoon game or a Saturday game that got dropped by Fox
I was at that crazy Royals at Rangers game on what was a fun baseball date.

@@hmhm856 It was because the Tampa area prepared for a possible Hurricane Gordon after Saturday's game. More on that when Sunday's upload comes up.
I always felt that the single-season hits record was the most impressive. It lasted for 84 years and it wasn't surpassed by someone on steroids.

Cleveland, why did you trade Richie Sexon and David Justice??? They have been amazing!!!! Sexson now has 13 home runs for the Brewers.
Cleveland already had a loaded lineup. I guess they thought he was expendable because of that.
I was born on this day
Kinda shocking to see a Friday night Phillies game go untelevised.

1:14 what is an umpire supposed to do when a millionaire is on his face like that?
And the Yankees two weeks disaster to end the regular season has begun.
