    How do you determine how much you should charge per hour? I am in NYC looking to get into commercial cleaning from residential.

    • @thejanitorialstore
      @thejanitorialstore  3 года назад +3

      The best thing to do is local market research. Contact 3-5 cleaning companies in your service area and have them give pricing for cleaning.
      You want to review their websites also. Many will give pricing there.
      This is harder to do for commercial because they always want to see the space. If you have a person that has a space you can always have them come there to give a price.
      You can also use employees wage rates to determine where you might be per hour. If the average rate for a cleaning workers is $16.00 per hours, you might need to charge $35 per hour to cover expenses and to make a fair profit.
      Hope this helps.

      For this job you will want to work load it.
      Estimate the time it will take to perform the tasks the customer wants done. Multiple it by your hourly rate for a price.
      Example:
      30 hours to perform cleaning x $28 per hour = $840 for the job.
      Hope this helps.

      What is the cleanable square footage?
      What is the scope of work?
      What time can we start cleaning?
      How many people in the offices?
      Are the offices open to the general public?
      How old are the buildings?
      What area of the country are they located?
      Is the account price driven?
      Who are we competing against?
      We need more information before giving a price.

      Day, only one time a week saturday pm

      @thejanitorialstore  4 года назад

      @@Uzziel_lay_drums What is your production rate for these two offices? This sounds as if it would be a minimum charge because it is small and cleaned one time per week.
      Minimum charges vary from company to company. You might have a minimum charge of $210 per month while another cleaning company would do it for $185 per month.
      What is your minimum price for small accounts like this? You need to know your numbers and at what profit you would be happy with. Again you might be happy at 25% profit while another company is happy at $20% profit.
      You also need to determine if the account is price driven and why they are making a change with service.

    Hey we have our first interview tomorrow cleaning windows and blinds any knowledge on how to price and what to look for

    • @thejanitorialstore
      @thejanitorialstore  3 года назад

      Windows can be priced by the pane. We start at $2.50 per pane and then go up from there depending on how hard they are to get at and soil loads.
      Blind cleaning can be done by hand with a duster or microfiber cloth. Make sure you look at the blind very well for damage, broken cords, missing cord ends, etc. Estimate your time and charge by the hour.
      We had ultrasonic tanks that we cleaned blinds in and many other items.

    Based on how many people performing the job? I’m asking because me and two friends wanna do a cleaning business and the guy offered us to clean a building, it’s 3 floors, he wants the 3 hallways vacuumed (about 60 yards long) 6 bathrooms cleaned completely, moping, and wipe glass door and wants us to provide toilet paper, hand soap garbage bags. He says he pays 950 per month and 5 days per week. Thanks in advanced 🙏🏽

    • @thejanitorialstore
      @thejanitorialstore  3 года назад +2

      You need to know the cleanable square footage of the account. Once you know that you run your production rates to give you a time to clean. If you don't know your production rate go to thejanitorialstore.com and use the production rates calculator.
      You bill for the toilet paper per case. You can ask how much they go through or use the paper usage calculator to determine how many cases they will go through in one month.
      Lets say it takes 3 hours to clean this account. 3 x 5 = 15 hours per week x 52 = 780 hours per year divided by 12 = 65 hours per month. 65 x your billable rate (lets say $28 per hour) = 1,820 per month without TP cost.
      With this example you can see he is not paying enough for the job and that is most likely why he is looking for another cleaning company.
      Once you have a price point use the bidding calculator www.thejanitorialstore.com/public/Bidding-Calculators.cfm to know what your profit would be.

      Your pricing can be higher because it takes you longer, your missing systems, etc. As long as I am making the profit level I want, its a win and the prospect sees the value in doing business with us.
