The classic Audi t-shirt worn is from A1 Graphics via ebay and is £11.99 (I'm wearing a medium)

In this video I share with you my hottest tip for a VAG car you can buy cheaply which can only go one way in value.
The car is the video is probably one of the best left anywhere in the world and is priced at £11999 - this is not an inflated modern classic price but the minimum it has always been worth. The £1000+ quoted in the video is for the cheapest examples on Autotrader in the UK but there are some rather nice ones for sale for £3k-£4k with under 100k miles and 2 owners which to me sounds like great value.
“Let’s have a look on the inside then” ...... and BAM out came me eyeballs 😎😆
Great video tho mate!
Little fun fact - this car was the first car introduced that conformed to new EU side impact crash rules that changed the ratio of door to window above from old ratio of circa 50/50 (that had been in vogue since 50s) to a c 57-60/43-40 ratio ...from this point on all cars had bigger doors and less high and smaller side windows!
HI there - thank you for this nice video of a really great car! I've got my own with the classic five cylinder engine since 2014 and I will never sell it, because driving it is always kinda slowing down in these fast paced times.
And just a little correction: It has been built since 1991, not 1992 ... you could buy the first ones in May 1991, but then only with the five cylinder motor. So for example next year there will be the first official vintage cars from this Cabriolet :) (In Germany the car has to be 30 years old to get a licence plate with the "H" for "Historic Car")
And if you don't like the yellow interior coming from the Quattro GmbH ... there have been also an orange, a blue and a green one ;-)
I had to wear my ray bans watching that...
I had wear mine driving it Harry😎
Beautiful car ,I've always loved the look of these older audi's. Love the interior colour, better than boring black everywhere. Had the pleasure of working for audi dealership (Macclesfield Audi) in early 2000's , got me into vag cars. Addicted to your channel Andrew.
Hey James, thanks for commenting (and being addicted to the channel!). Glad you are one of the minority who like the interior too. Must have been good times working for Audi back then, sales going through the roof, model range growing weekly, great times which we have in many ways the former head of PR at Audi UK and living legend, Jon Zammett to thank for😎
Man I love these! Drove a mates 80 2.3 5 cylinder years back and although not fast it went well for the time and sounded immense. Always liked these the lines are so smooth.
One of the best cars I ever drove was the earlier squarer Audi 90 quattro '88 2.3 5 cylinder (130hp IIRC, ) not fast but was just glued to the road and the exhaust had a lovely rasp to it. Impressed me that much that I now own an S3 for weekend fun but not as good as the old '88 90 in many ways
I can't hold off till I watch the entire video.. I had to comment :) I totally agree with you! These cars have aged beautifuly, audi did an amazing job with design, fit and finish, material choices and even colors to make it pop or feel like a real classic cruiser. I wish I had more space for storage because here in the States they have been spinning between $3-6k for years now...
Hey Nikola, glad you agree 👍 I'm a little surprised they made it over to the States but I guess the cruiser feel suits your kind of roads. Did they sell quite a few then?
I like it, still looks good, my wife would not share my sentiments though, due to the colour she would say it is a bug magnet :-)
Hi
Nice video.
In your opinion, Which car ( VW or AUDI) from 1998 to 2010 is the best to invest as future classic car and in few years its price & demand will go sky high?
Any suggestions & recommendations?
Thanks in advance, look to your expert reply.
This pristine example is up for sale on UK autotrader with 1 owner for £12,000.00 with 11,000 miles on the clock😎 Average prices as of June ‘20 for well used 80 to 100,000 + mile old nails with 3 + owners, £3,000 to £5,000 +. So l think if you permanently wear your Ray Bans this little baby could be for you 😆😎
THAT is very interesting. The Audi 80 is a solid car, I was lucky enough to have an RS2 for a short while until the 2008 nightmare took hold and could no longer afford to run the car. It was REALLY WELL MADE so your points are very valid, another lovely video thanks again.
Absolutely stunning example bet you your car is worth far more than £2k love the exclusive leather interior as well...old school Audi build quality where has it gone .....really enjoyed this video
Still look elegant 30 years on
They do don't they Ja son?
what do you think about 2.8 mk4s?
Hi Andrew I'm struggling with the burning sensation in my eyes from the glare from that colour, seriously though the car has aged really well the whole design package still looks great 20 years on although I'm doubtful whether it will be appreciated by a classic car enthusiast (still be overlooked against RS2,RS4 and TT etc)also surprised how little wind noise there was in the cabin, lovely clean car, I'd wager you might keep this one for yourself maybe! !!.
Great video as usual, these cars are very underrated. I always thought they were a step up in class when they were new compared to their rivals from BMW for instance.
Such a shame Audi don't make true classy cars anymore, they seem to have sold out to the chav brigade, an 's' model used to mean something when you saw one.
Good luck with the sale Andrew 👍
Thanks Raven master, interesting that you recall the old Audi days too. Back in the day they were way cooler than BMW which was the dodgy geezer car of the day. Now they are pretty similar in all the good ways an some of the bad too😉
Hi Andrew, yes I certainly agree with you on all aspects, the way I remember it was (certainly where I grew up in my small town in Manchester): most kids passed their test and ended up in any old first car. There were some real funny ones I recall, old allegros, datsuns passed down from their grandad! usually in mint condition and low mileage! and always in period seventies colours! soon to be treated in a very unsampethic manner certainly mechanically at least once their parents weren't looking! My preferred choice was indeed my grandads rather nice mk1 polo in lemongelb👍
Some individuals were able to bypass this stage and ended up in mk1 xr2's, the much sought after and highly regarded mk2 escorts and even mk1 golf drivers kitted out as gti's.
then came the big guns, the genuine mk1 gti's, the mk2's aswell, they were everywhere! the mk2 escorts were extremely popular too even some time later.
It was only the odd few who eventually 'graduated' to a bmw, and this was without doubt always an e30, somehow seen as a marked step up from a mk2 golf.
We had a few old boys in the neighbourhood who ran what I called 'proper' cars, cars that you could argue that were actually decent, there was a red e28 5 series, 535i, and a couple of 6 series 635's both M csi's too.
These particular models apart, to me there was only really the e30 325i that you could call 'proper' but even these were being ruined by the wide boy elements and had a bad reputation, especially when they needed fixing or the drivers ran out of talent at the slightest turn, nothing big and clever about them then!
The touring car era certainly gave them an appeal, but this was still a big ford loving area on the whole, and we saw some nice cosworth Sierras and even a few ur quattro Audi's too.
For me unless it was the much better looking tech 2 e30 'sport' the lesser bmw cars were just a bit naff! no where near as classy as
a well turned out big bumper mk2. My friend owned at least 15 to 20 mk1 gti's and mk2 gti's, the respect he was afforded was huge!
As was the owner of a lovely dark blue audi cabriolet, a 2.8 model aswell, it stood out as being on a completely different level to any of the 3 series cars, that front end was so very attractive, the whole car just looked amazing, modern yet comfortably classy. There were a few audi coupes too, the b3 generation which I still think are a much underrated choice, the s2 was out of this world to look at, you just knew they were a very special item, of very high quality, no dodginess here!
I stayed true to my vw roots and still have, but the audi b3 16v sport I had in emerald green with the speed line wheels will always be a highlight for me. I'd like to think it was a better bet than an e30 of similar vintage at the time, and I definitely knew and felt that this early to mid 90s period was Audi's finest. A little nod must also go to Mercedes too during the same era, as the 190 cars were apparently top quality too, often overshadowed by those old e30's though?
I haven't been fortunate enough to sample any 's' cars from audi or indeed any 'm' cars from bmw, I'm hearing and reading glowing reports for the e46, but for me based on what these cars used to stand for and what they used to do to my senses if ever I saw one (an audi 's' car ) , they just arent the same anymore. Maybe society has dictated my thoughts towards them, I know you cant stop a certain section of people from gravitating to them as they have undoubtedly done, (i speak from experience living in Manchester) it's not the cars fault or audi's either, more power and more speed than their predecessors yes, but definitely less class too. Cars date very quickly but that audi (cabriolet) product has definitely proved a very successful design as it still looks super classy and refined to this day!
I apologise for what has turned into a lengthy ramble here 🙈.
p.s I know I always make reference to the volkswagen audi car days, but your video content is a very worthy replacement for what was the pinnacle of volkswagen related material, so many thanks indeed Andrew 👍👍, thanks, Stew
* sorry, 'unsympathetic ' even!
The last run of cars used a newer 2.8 v6 With 5 cylinder technology... they’d be the ones to go for....... and find one with a hard top roof 🤫 they look cool when fitted to the car.... gave it a sleak look to the rear end.
We've just bought a '95 2.6 v6 for £500. :) Came with a FASH and a winddeflector!
I’m a stickler for standard oem cars. Though, this would be worth more if the interior was black. I’d be tempted to change it as based on the comments, it’s a love/hate car specification. Top video👍🏻
Thanks Matthew. Can't mess with the spec as it will devalue it even if it has a broader appeal. think enough people like it and ultimately it's only 1 person who needs to own it and like it. I'm just glad it creates a reaction as so few cars do really
volkswizard totally agreed, it’s creating a spectacle!
VAG means something different where I'm from lol and that car is bloody hard on the eyes
First review I’ve seen of this car! Amazing looking, would like to see a review on a B5 though too. Keep it up
Thanks! Will do Hugo!
What a car! I can appreciate a classic when i see one but the yellow is over kill for me.
I suspect that paintwork and interior would attract the bees and wasps! 😂
I like that they've gone for an interesting look rather than the boring black interiors everyone does, but the wood really doesn't match it. I'd want to try and wrap it more suitably.
I actually seen the coupe version today in Ilford in white. Immaculate condition
Love the old skool audi's and the square look - shame it was in yellow would have look nicer in a dark blue or something!
nice cars i have black one for 6 years.
They’ve aged really well!
here in germany they are getting quite expensiv right now
That's interesting to know, thanks 👍
Bit of topic but hope you answer to help me out. I'm looking at buying either a ed35 dsg or a golf R manual 2012. Which would you recommend please???
Answered!
@@volkswizard thanks.
Totally original colour , lose the steering wheel yellow and that would tone it down .
Always loved the look of these cars. An aftermarket exhaust to amplify the v6 grunt and that’s a lovely daily driver
nice one! always loved this one but kind 9f forgot about them because I like the B6 cabrio even more. but you have a special special unit there. however any cabrio with plastic rear window should be kept as far away as possible, don't you think?
Early Boxster had plastic window! To be honest I don't notice it when driving as it hasn't gone opaque as they do when the hood is opened with dirt on it. B6 drives better for sure and the pre-big grille design I am sure will have its fans but its a moden era Audi which is a very different kind of car.
Wonderful I enjoyed watching you can appreciate the quality an clearly see itll be appreciating future classic if looked after thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it russ023 👍
I just traded my 2008 Aprilia Shiver 750 for a black 1997 Audi Cabriolet with white leather interior. I'm excited!
I bought one yesterday on a L reg does anybody know if the 2.0 8v engine runs on the e10 fuel..i put some in and after 70 miles its a bit juddery
Beautiful car, it's also my favorite color!
Love what I guess I can call "VINTAGE Audi's" like this! 👍😎Not meaning to be a knob, but I'm sure these 2.6 V6 models had mearly 150bhp, the 2.8's used the VW VR6, but the one I've driven was the 2.3 5 cylinder S2 Coupe, which was a gem at 17...Although was my bro in-laws! lol
Great review of the "Banana Audi " A very special car that still looks great. Thanks Andy - great video !
Glad you enjoyed it Derek, it was my pleasure!
Great video, love how the 90s Audis are now looking ever more handsome... I can't see past that colour though 😂.
Believe it or not Matt, a lot of people love it but it is the definition of marmite!
Maybe not desirable (yet) but a MK1 A4 2.8 Quattro is an excellent car and very handsome in the right colour.
Very nice video mate. I have a right hand drive 2.6 manual in King fisher blue which I've imported to the USA. Such a fun car to drive.
Very cool car for the states, Kingfisher blue is probably one of the most desirable colours and far less divisive than yellow, have fun
i enjoy watching your videos, always very informative, learn a lot of new things watching them.
Glad to hear it Arron, it's great to put all the info I've built up over my many years on the planet to good use finally!
Good evening, can the Audi b4 cabriolet hardtop fit the b6 b6 cabriolet, or can you direct me to a link for a Audi B6 cabriolet hardtop, thanks in advance
Surprised it’s got the special interior pack but no heated seats
Brilliant car Andrew love these and a manual v6 all the better and the individual colour spec is brave but bold in a good way imho - what are your plans with this car?
Thanks as ever Malcolm! It's for sale, would love to keep but post lockdown need sell as much as poss, no time for indulgences.
Loved that! It looks like great fun. A car to be enjoyed and for its own sake. I know someone with one and, whilst it drives, its body and so forth is not cared for. A shame really because they look great, as yours does.
Noooo I have been on to these for ages and now you have upped their prices 😂. Quite like the colour concept yellow, maybe not so much the interior. Made popular by Princess Diana???
Well screwed together cars these. Although the scuttle shake was laughable, try putting your finger in between the door card and dash as you drive to see what I mean. Did 2500 miles round Europe in my old one 3 years back. Was an enjoyable trip, even being the wheezy 1.8 20v model. Mine came with the optional Recaros that were worth more than I paid for the whole car. Got a lot of people slowing down to have a look at it, especially on the Autobahns, great looking car that was lowered on H&R suspension with the Bolero wheels as fitted to the Yellow one.
Superb example before all the electronic wizardry (no pun intended) too over.
Great car, and and always, a great review!
Thank you Andrew 😊
I've just got me self mgzs180 fantastic condition with only 83 thousand miles hopefully a future classic 👍
A4's are somewhat desirable in the states. If you can't afford an S4, tune an A4 or even do a VIP build.
I think the color looks awkward for a cabrio perhaps would be nicer for a coupe Audi 80 quattro.
hi Andrew that car is safer not being driven on the pubic roads because it would cause accidents being that bright
Lovely Jubbly, beautiful car, very questionable interior choice though.
Dianas blue one went for a couple of quid
Excellent, informative and detailed as is customary from you Andrew. Thanks for the feature. I’ve been really looking forward to this one since the teaser clip a while back. A lovely genuine low mileage car even in its stand out yellow paintwork and matching interior trim, perhaps more so. The next owner will have a piece of automotive history and one which would be a star of any VAG or classic car show. If only I had the pennies to buy it. Hope you continue to keep safe and well. Look forward to the next instalment on the channel. Take care.
Saw the headline and thought this was going to be about the MK1 Leon Cupra R !.Seen a minter up for £3k the other day!.
Best Cabriolet ever!
Good shout but possibly thee worst colour combo both interior and exterior.
Beautiful. What a gem of a find and real keeper 👍
Thanks Martyn, not a keeper for me but hopefully for the next owner.👍
Great video and I quite like the interior for some reason. :-)
Glad you liked the video and especially the interior John !
Yeah loved it pal and I've just ordered one of those t shirts.
Can you review a golf mk5 1.4T 170?
Don't know about the colour, but it is a stunning! Car and those miles.. wow!
Thanks! Yes I appreciate colour is an acquired taste but I just love its boldness especially on what is such an understated car
@@volkswizard I have to agree with you. Loving your channel. Keep up the good work 😊
Love the interior.
The cabriolet is great looking shape colour ooozes flavor to cruising along 👍👍👍👍Car mechanics magazine has an A4 1.8T at the moment for a project in red later model but an another underated Audi
A mad man spec'd that car.
Some volume on the interior bro
I own one... so i can only agree with you 😁🤣
I think the title being amended to “The Future Classic Audi That No One Wants To Be Seen Dead In” is more accurate.
It's marmite for sure but it was for sale and attracted lots of interest and is now sold. It doesn't suit everyone but the lady who bought it could carry it off, looking at the thumbnail I don't think I could
2 years after and they are still very cheap, or better said, still afordable...just thinking to buy one...even with Hardtop...
Such a great looking car.
Man alive that interior is revolting!
I love RUclipsr who don't post community ❤💓
I need my sunglasses. NOOOOOOO to the Yelllow. What was they thinking when they ordered it in that colour?
😂🤣😂🤣 Nogaro Blue was on the opinions list aswell ffs! 😮😮😮
Rather buy the one under yours on Autotrader with the better 2.8 v6 giving 174 bhp thats 2.5k and not 12k your asking lol
How much cost?❤️❤️
That car in the video is one of the best left anywhere and is £11999 but you can buy a decent one for £3000
never realised those indicators are from porsche - i knew they had involvement in rs2 but not aesthetic other than wheels...
Mirrors were Porsche too on RS2, you need to check out my RS2 video dude 😉
I need your assistance sir with this car, will you be able?
How can I help you?
@@volkswizard I need to do performance engineering, roof is not working, etc
I actually stood next to Princess Diana's cabriolet as it was sat in a London hotel reception for a couple of weeks. Not sure your model is worth £12k.
I'm genuinely getting loads and loads and loads of interest in it at £12k so we shall see 👍
That wood trim really doesn't go with the yellow paintwork and trim at all.
I can not argue with that 😁
It was the nineties though, a time when anything 'premium' got wood trim. Whether it fitted the car or not.
We need to see the ginger cat more!! Everyone check my vids for interior tips
If bee movie was a car...
My migraine just got worse, yellow interior and exterior No No No! Great channel👍👍👍
Sorry to hear that steve (but glad you stil like the channel!)
Not very keen on the yellow interior.
Nice video. I think the skoda fabia vrs mk1 is a furture classic.
I loved the Fabia VRS, important as it was firsy cheap diesel hot hatch, is there a standard one left?
@@volkswizard My fabia vrs is pretty much standard. Stage 1 remap and air filter. When I took it to get remap it was running 150bhp standard. Running about 176 BHP afterwards. Skoda didn't want to make it look as good as the Octavia vrs. Most of the fabia vrs have been heavily modified now.
Have owned my for 13 years now and haven't got the heart to sell it. Still such a good car and shows up a lot of new cars on the motorway.
I'd have to say that I dont think this will be a classic. I've owned the 2005 a4 cabrio and now 2015 a5 cabrio and the difference is frankly huge in terms of stability/handling, frame rigidity, engine, gearing, noise, etc. If the difference from 199x and 2005 is such this must be old school. Unless the driving characteristics were like a roadster or similar I can't see this having much demand. The TT of course I think will be a classic due to its vanguard design, but this one not so much.
Wonder what 2.6 V6 does in terms of MPG? 😬🤣
Narrow angle rubbish? You reviewed a mk5 r32 and said how special the engine is a few months ago....
The ignition barrel placement reminds me of a Mercades
Andrew, Model yes, colour ????????????
Golf convertible similar ?
Mk1? I guess so but they have rocketed in value recently and aren't anything like as solid as they were loads cheaper when new
Sorry buy I had to watch this video in black & white because I just can't cope with the colour. When you said it was a 1 owner car & thought you were going to say it was owned by Steve Wonder.
Very good Gary! I know, it's bright but I'm just glad it's creating comment because that's what it's all about. May not be Lady Diana's colour choice granted😁
I suspect the example you are driving is rather more than a grand or two?
Yes indeed, it's in the description. There's no reason you can't buy an up together car cheaply albeit higher mileage, and it doesn't have to be yellow which for some will be a bonus!
Why is this vehicle advertised as a 2.6 with 150bhp on Autorader ?
Because they are useless. If you go to my website you can see the first page of the service book which says 2.8 www.volkswizard.co.uk
Not in that colour lol
Jesus, who ever paid for yellow and yellow? Was this from factory like this? Nice car, but hideous colour. I could live with yellow paint, but that leather is brighter than the paint.
Mmm.......yellow leather with burr walnut trim....
Yes, I know! I think some lower spec cars have some carbon look trim or something that's not wood which I'd have to find and fit to be happy
I'm getting sick from the interior
Louis Spence/John Barrowman come on down your car has arrived...🤮🤮🤮bet all those miles were in the dark....
Bit harsh 😁
