- Tourists entering or leaving Turks and Caicos face prison time for possessing firearms or ammunition, as Valerie and Ryan Watson of Oklahoma are finding out. Ryan was left behind from their dream vacation awaiting a bail hearing for carrying four rounds of ammunition in his carry-on luggage. Turks and Caicos Islands are a British territory. The U.S. Embassy has warned tourists that gun laws there say being caught with guns or bullets comes with a minimum sentence of 12 years behind bars.
Stop thinking American rights exist in other countries.
True
Rights only exist for some in America.
Exactly

Indeed.
The real story is that they actually passed TSA screening before leaving the country...
It's actually really concerning😅

My dad had a pair of pliers in his carry-on and the TSA confiscated them and that was the end of it.
No problems with having ammunition in checked luggage. As long as it is not in a carry on.

That's hogwash. It's human error. You're obviously anti gun.
Oh man that's got to suck not able to see your children all because of one little well big actually bringing bullets 😞 I feel sorry for them.
How is miss placing ammo is dangerous?
BEFORE he got on the flight out, how did TSA not see bullets in his luggage?
Checked luggage.
I remember one time I few to Vietnam with some shatter(marijuana concentrate) in my lower pants pocket I forgot I had. I went through the airports in the US and Japan with it and didn't realize it was in my pocket until a few days later in Vietnam. Thank God they didn't have dogs at the airport those times because I would have gotten pinched for sure
TSA, and airport security in general, is a joke. I recently travelled and had a Leatherman Surge on my belt. That day I went through airport security three times, and immigration once without any problem. I didn't realize I had forgotten to take it off my belt until I was already at the hotel in my destination country. I was worried about getting home with it but, my return flight was the same with no one finding or taking it away from me.
@Not_Expat_Joe Very true. When I was a kid I went to England and back to the US with a folding buck knife in my backpack. Totally forgot it was in there from a camping trip I had taken previous. This was in 2005, so 9/11 was still pretty fresh. TSA never caught it.
@@SlackerU Checked luggage gets X-ray screened too if you didn't know.

It's not that black and white. You can use freezing temperatures or a certain high heat. Or you could seal luggage in a plastic bag and let time do it's thing. For over 12 months, I read.

You're making ASS-umptions about how he packed "each" time...
He said he'd also been to Texas, who knows how he repacked #1
#2 The news reader said "carry-on" these "newspeople" frequently misspeak on stories.
#3 Bottom line, it said "can't possess, period" so either way carry-on or checked it was gonna be a problem "there" whereas in America "checked" ammo is okay
TSA probably slipped it in there as a prank
You realize TSA has been tested many times and usually fails. But also this isn't actually their fault.

That's a great program.
Lol.
I love that and I seen how bad decision making really got them prison sentences.
That's precisely why it's essential not to use any luggage for flying or international travel to store firearms or ammunition. It's advisable to have a separate set of luggage designated as "sterile," meaning it's entirely separate from the luggage used for transporting or storing firearms or ammunition. This practice helps avoid any mix-ups and ensures compliance with regulations, reducing the risk of legal trouble. Even spent shell casings or any residue of ammunition can potentially lead to legal trouble if discovered during travel. This underscores the importance of ensuring that all luggage used for flying or international travel remains completely free of any firearms, ammunition, or related items to avoid any misunderstandings or legal complications.
