I had one of those first gen Escort Cossie… that car gave stock during those overboost seconds almost 280cvs it was faster than those first gen e36 m3. Such a good car, I regret selling it almost every weekend.
A moment to sink in the fact that a 30yo car went faster in the wet than all the others (in that video)... That alone speaks a lot about how spectacular the Cossie was (and is). ...now to put that in perspective, go back 30years...this is the original Giant Slayer. Yeaaaa....so... in 2016, I bought a Corvette from 2002. 32k original miles. When I took it on a test drive with the owner, I took it on the freeway and laid into it a little bit to see how it felt. On the freeway onramp - downhill, dead straight, for about 1/8 of a mile - Car spun the wheels in 2nd gear and I was shocked! Got it home after taking it easy, car felt very very nervous. Turns out it had the original Eagle F1 run-flats on it from when it was purchased! Got tires put on it a few weeks later, immediately it behaved better in every sense. Much more grip (duh) and since they weren't run-flats they had much better steering feel all around. Good catch on the stock tires, but that is amazing it still had them on!,
That car sound gives me such a flashbacks from Gateway in Stockholm 2. Even tho that Escort was hevly modified, the rasp of the engine is very similar.

This is the original T34 version. Comes on boost at 3400 rpm. The later T25 was much better because it came on boost from 2500 rpm but even that is probably still laggy compared to modern turbos. Wonder whether you could get something similar to a Focus ST or RS turbocharger for the Escort. Would be good to see one tuned with modern day tech.
As someone that owned a brand-new 1993 Sierra Sapphire Cosworth , I can see now how dated and slow they are in comparison to today’s Cars. But at the time they were great pieces of kit , such a great car in its day.

Wow love the car :) looks brand new! loved this car back in the day, but have never driven one. My first car was a Sierra 2.0 but with XR4i styling. I think it had like 125hp.. but it felt more like 60 :D And I do not even think it had power steering, but its a long time ago, so I might be remembering incorrectly. Anyway, love to see these old cars in this channel, and I hope to see more. If it was my car I would be scared for anything to happen, when its in mint condition like this :)

It’s not brand new. It’s just polished / washed with his cheap polish that he sells for high prices. He’s milking the term brand new or factory new, when it’s far from that.
