I have nothing but admiration for the VR system - I've travelled from Helsinki Airport to Tampere 3 times & each time I've just turned up at the station, got a ticket with a seat assigned minutes before & for just 21 euros. For my money, it's the best rail network in Europe.
thank you from the uk, .one of the best, the usual vloggers go on and on and on , you are a natural , calm , informative and not over bearing like most, cheers
Beautiful trip Simon. The train is very beautiful inside, the children's area looks nice and the snowy landscapes also seem very beautiful (although Chile has landscapes like this, the trains we have do not run in snowy areas). Many greetings from Chile!
Great trip report the trains look great on the inside perhaps many features you wouldn't see anywhere else and sitting down looking at the winter scenery must be good. You are right when you say taking the train makes people see how people live in different parts of the country. People in one city or region may have different lifestyle than people in another city or region the same goes for different countries
Interesting, even though Rovaniemi is in Lapland, still not far enough North for Polar night. I see today, Rovaniemi has daylight from 11:07 until 13:22. Actually quite a long day for being so far North. (I was thinking that anything within Lapland would experience Polar night.)
Thank you for sharing your video. Is paying the ekstra seat worth it? Is it extra leg room? Also can you please tell me which seats that are facing the right direction as the train moves? Thanks again :)
The legroom is good in any seat on the train, but i would pay for ekstra class to have a proper table to work on and the free coffe / tea / water is nice. Sadly there is no guarantee on VR which way the train and therefore seat will be facing
@@Simon-Andersen Actually there is: On the main train line, car number 1, which has seats for people traveling with pets downstairs, and regular seating upstairs, is always on the end if the train that is facing towards Helsinki. Because this car also has a cockpit, it can only be installed in a way, that the cockpit end on the car is pointing towards Helsinki. So, based on this, you can select a seat facing the way you want, if you select it from car number 1.
Train IS Very expensive to Lapland. 2 persons 100 euro. We usualy take our olen car. It costs 70euros biodiesel per 980km. And we can rest where we see Its best.
I’m going to Rovaniemi on Monday and coming back on Thursday❤ as usual you never let me down good video🫵🏻😊👍🏻
Have a great trip! Glad that even my older videos helped you :D

I have nothing but admiration for Finland. Truly Europe's last democracy.

Thanks bob! Cheers from Denmark
Thank you that you showed the 0.50€ luggage storage lockers! Now I know the rough size of those lockers. Thanks!
Downstairs there are 2 lockers with dimensions 70 x 54 x 54 cm and upstairs there are 6 lockers with dimensions 46 x 20 x 84 cm.

infact.
I enjoyed the video and the ride, thanks for taking me along.
Glad you enjoyed it
The window seat upstairs in restaurant car is my recommendation. Get the meatballs.
7:44 Regarding the question:
Yes, at SBB it is available in the control car of the IC2000/2020 and Twindexx too.
Finns should head down to Greece to teach the Greeks about how to build a proper rail network.

It's not that expensive...cheaper than car when traveling alone...
Onboard a train you can rest all the time, walk around, eat, even have a beer or two
