We had to bring everything we needed to survive for lengthy trips. Still, it was some of the best sleep I've ever had. Loved watching Europe go past my window. Whats wrong with French my brother? 😀 I went to Marseille once, its a beautiful city. Except for the language barrier, no one that I met in the streets understand english 🤣
@@haninditabudhi6574 I visited Paris and Normandy. The people were very nice. When people of Normandy learned I had been in the 82nd Airborne Division....almost 50 years after D-Day...the people were very kind to me. On the train missions, we would get good treatment for other European countries. But in the dead of winter, the French refused to heat our guard car. "Our system cannot work on your car." But when we would get to the Italian border, their train-yard people would shake their heads and tell us that the "system" works on all European trains, and they have had the same problem with the French.
I’m Swedish so taking this trip in Finland is on my list of things to do! I live alongside the railroad between Gothenburg and Stockholm so my idea is to take the express train (MTR Express or SJ X200) up to Stockholm and then take the ferry, preferably Silja Line over to Helsinki and then the sleeper train up in Finland before somehow going over to the Swedish north, rent a car in Kiruna to drive out to the Kiruna mountains and over to Narvik in Norway and maybe some more places in Norway like Senja and Tromsø that aren’t too far away, and then take the SJ sleeper train home from Kiruna or Luleå. I spent time in the far north every summer of my childhood, road tripping with car and caravan, usually about 5000-6000km in a 4-5 week period, for me to take this trip I’m planning on my mind, it would be both to see new things (haven’t really been to Finland other than passing through a part of the far north on the way to Norway) and experience new ways of traveling as I (still) haven’t taken the ferry to Finland (or spent much time on a ferry at all, only a mini cruise from Gothenburg to Newcastle and back once, and some shorter trips) and the only time I’ve been on sleeper train was in China when going to and from Beijing from a city near Shanghai. The trip would also mean visiting places I remember from my childhood and that means a lot to me. Tromsø is a really beautiful city, as is the surrounding area, Senja may well be the most beautiful island of Norway, Narvik is really nice as well as is the road from the Swedish border in Riksgränsen. And the E10 from Kiruna over to Norway just has a special place in my heart with going alongside Torne Träsk, seeing the mountains towering around you with Malmbanan on the side of the road. Then in Abisko... Take the ski lift up on the mountain and just sit there and be astounded by the view with the lake on the left, Lapporten on the right and just Swedish mountain nature when it’s at its best! When I just relax, my mind travels to that mountain in Abisko... I’m an ambulatory wheelchair user with severe chronic pain though, so a trip like this would be very demanding, but I will do it, one day, and very likely document it as well and probably upload on RUclips if RUclips still exists by that time (there’s no knowing when I’ll take this trip and what the world looks like then)
Wow. Sounds like a wonderful trip. I travelled through Norway, Sweden and Finland (and Estonia and Russia) 30 years ago (from US). Scandinavia was so beautiful. Reading your plans makes me want to redo the trip! Hope you do it.
We were there last Christmas. It was absolutely great experience from Helsinki to Rovaniemi especially if you are in the room with bed and bath. You also got a chance to see the northern light along the route. Thanks for reviewing this trip!
We did this trip a few years back and it was awesome. They used to do a free breakfast box for all sleeper passengers. You were stopped a while outside of Helsinki because they were attaching a carriage containing cars other passengers were taking up North. We got on at a station just outside Helsinki after loading our car on to a separate carriage which was attached to the end of the train. ( Made visiting Santa and other Artic circle sights much easier as Uber doesn’t have the best coverage up there!!!)
I've made this overnight journey myself, but on the Swedish side of the Baltic sea. I'm 6'8, so I guess my experience was from quite a unique perspective. The shower certainly is an awesome feature! The shower in the SJ sleeper train was however in a separate room, looked like a mini spa with wooden details, plants, benches and piles of folded towels
Pretty cool how those cabins are designed: Compact and sparse, but comfortable and fully functional, with food always just down the corridor. They have similar service in Japan, as I imagine is the case in numerous other countries. Would love to go on such a journey someday.

That room is much bigger than an Amtrak sleeper room with a bathroom. When the bottom bed was down from it's seat position there was 2 inches of clearance between the bed and wall. Nice video. Beautiful scenery. We took our first Amtrak train in June 2021 from Chicago to LA (Southwest Chief) and loved it. We watch lots of train videos now on RUclips. Safe travels everyone.

I've done that trip, getting off in Oulu then on to Rovaniemi and yes, economy is fine in the day. I recommend you go to Norway and do the trip south from Narvik. The sleepers are lovely. The sleepers are also good from Rome to Bern, large and comfortable. Take care.
That looked like what Amtrak "should" aspire to be, and maybe it will with the replacement of the 50+ year old rolling stock soon. Impressed you were able to get any kind of dinner when you boarded, just because of the hour...meaning Amtrak would not have offered anything but snacks. Cool frozen ride! Haha. As I do my best to avoid snow/ice, and have no interest in anything above the Arctic Circle...I'll live though others travels. At least until the summer arrives. haha. Look forward to next week!
How exciting to travel to the artic circle. The train has all the necessary comforts, food looks delicious, and the landscape is beautiful. Thanks for giving us a train ride to such an interesting destination.
Yes, that was the Pasila station or Tikkurila station, where people can load cars into train and get them to Lapland while you sleep in the train. They do not do that in Helsinki main railway station because of limited space. You drive to Pasila or Tikkurila, drive your car on special traincar, then all the readily loaded traincars get attached to the train.
just yesterday I've been looking into this exact sleeper train, as I'm figuring out my vacation plans. Thank you for the review! it was of much help :)

What a really cool trip! I've got to know, how do you find such unique rail routes to travel on? I wouldn't have ever known this existed if not for this video.
Really loving the train videos, a couple of bucket list train trips for me my bucket list train is the Indian Pacific across Australia and I would have loved to do the Trans Siberian but that one is unfortunately a no go now with the Russia/Ukraine situation. But it would be really cool to see you do some videos on the Australian and South African trains. Thanks for the content!
The long stop at the beginning of the journey was to add the car carriages on the train. And by the way, did you notice that there are 6 fingers in the hand shaped decorations on the restaurant car doors? :D
Looks like such a fun trip! Adding this to my list of places I'd like to go. How do you decide your trip schedule for upcoming video content? Do you think weeks/months ahead, or plan closer to trip time?
I love long train trips. I would take that ride round trip just for the views. Another trip I would love to take is the Trans-Siberian railway from start to finish and back.
Hello from NYC! And thanks for your video! It was fun watching you discover your temporary “new home” on Santa’s Express! This is now definitely on my bucket list! ❄️❄️ Oh! And thanks for the tip on ScentBird! I’ll be trying out that code!
Loved this video! We did a cruise to the artic circle on a ship, but I think the train lets you see much more on the way! Thanks for your excellent videos! You have a great personality and I love watching! God bless you!
I made that journey nearly 35 years ago.. It was a lot different then. The trains were a lot more rattly and I remember waking up in the middle of the night and deciding to stretch my legs only to forget when compartment I was in.. It took an hour of trying doors and getting shouted at before I found it. I don't know if it is still a thing, but you used to pass a big sign and a line of borders that announced: "Welcome to the Artic Circle".
Yes. These new trains are quite impressive compared to the old sleepers. The coaches on the old trains were very comfy, though. I did the trip in a sleeper in 1982 and in coach, daytime, in 1993. The latter was a killer. Once you get past Tampere, you got about 11 hours of the most boring moonscape to watch. Luckily, winter days are short in Finland.
This was kinda interesting watch. I've watched your other train stuff and those have felt so exotic. And then there's this, the local scenery that to me wasn't that special, but it made me appreciate it more when seen through foreigner's eyes.

Where can that live cam be found? With what search word?
At least until the summer arrives. haha. Look forward to next week!
summer in the Arctic is 24x7 SUN & fun
Brilliant absolutely brilliant, and so neat and tidy on that train, and the scenery is beautiful 😍
These trains are really cool!! Looking forward to more!! And I also love the winter travel views as well! 🙂
Addicted to these videos, So happy I accidentally stumbled across them, Keep the traveling coming Bro.
Yes! Another train video! I love these types of videos keep up the amazing work!
Hi skittle
Happy to see you visiting my hometown Rovaniemi. :) Very cool channel.
How exciting to travel to the artic circle. The train has all the necessary comforts, food looks delicious, and the landscape is beautiful. Thanks for giving us a train ride to such an interesting destination.
I’m going on this train this Christmas, thank you for educating me on what to do while I’m on it!😊
The 1/2 hr wait close to Central Station might have been because they add the car carriage to your train. Some of us travel with car on-board
BRO! PLEASE POST MORE, I've gone through almost all of your aviation travel vids. All of them are a blast to watch, you're awesome!
Godbless
Absolutely fantastic! You're such a great guide!
Great Upload.. There's something about train travel but you take it to another level indeed. Thanks for this.
Another really cool video - pun intended. Greetings from Australia - hoping you can do some flight and rail reviews down under one day!
Me too just did my first trip brissie to Bundy on tilt train via business class
The bottom bunk for sure.. Thank you for sharing this trip North.. The scenery looks beautiful 🤩 and you even had an opportunity for a shower…
I wish Amtrak had a way of letting the rider lock the cabin door when leaving it unattended.
We have been snowed in in Japan for a few days, and have watched and enjoyed your vids. Thank you. Liked and subbed!
I went from Stockholm to Kiruna overnight in a second class seat, and it was the most comfortable train ride ever.
Thank you so much taking us to a journey in Lapland.
I would prefer the bottom bunk!! 🥰 As always, another GREAT video here!! ❤️
Beautiful trip! For me that would be a once in a lifetime experience.
5:23 Actually I think you were stopped because they attached car carriages to the back of the train, nice to see you in Finland!
@@RoyalMela Yep, I think the main one is the Pasila car station
just yesterday I've been looking into this exact sleeper train, as I'm figuring out my vacation plans. Thank you for the review! it was of much help :)
I wish to travel on this route
Lies again? Not much space to move? Considering plane instead
Are There Trains In The US Like This x
Life is a bunch of wishes that never get met
Great vid mate! just found your channel and im loving it, no nonsense just proper travel reviews
Man oh man I sure find your journeys fascinating Will, easily earned my subscription good sir. Thank you for the in depth tours and exploration, so fun to be taken along 🌲☀️🌲
So glad I found your channel...I love trains and do my travelling through you now!😂😂 I can't stand all the hassle anymore...and where I live we don't have trains, this is why i enjoy your vids.
What a really cool trip! I've got to know, how do you find such unique rail routes to travel on? I wouldn't have ever known this existed if not for this video.
i will say im not much of a train person, with that being said, i find these videos amazing to watch. keep it up!
I actually also took a night train to the arctic last month, Stockholm to Abisko in Swedish Lapland, journey was amazing 😁
The long stop at the beginning of the journey was to add the car carriages on the train. And by the way, did you notice that there are 6 fingers in the hand shaped decorations on the restaurant car doors? :D
I wonder why
Actually during that long stop at Helsinki, they did attach few train cars with cars vehicles on them.
Looks like such a fun trip! Adding this to my list of places I'd like to go. How do you decide your trip schedule for upcoming video content? Do you think weeks/months ahead, or plan closer to trip time?
Usually days and weeks out. I try to be as flexible as possible. Thanks so much for watching
I love long train trips. I would take that ride round trip just for the views. Another trip I would love to take is the Trans-Siberian railway from start to finish and back.
this makes me want to take a train trip lol
Hello from NYC! And thanks for your video! It was fun watching you discover your temporary “new home” on Santa’s Express! This is now definitely on my bucket list! ❄️❄️
Oh! And thanks for the tip on ScentBird! I’ll be trying out that code!
What I'm most surprised, is that the train actually did the whole journey without breakdowns or massive delays.
Thankyou for sharing your experience, love these train journeys
Loved this video! We did a cruise to the artic circle on a ship, but I think the train lets you see much more on the way! Thanks for your excellent videos! You have a great personality and I love watching! God bless you!
Train view is always mesmerizing
Wow how I wish to visit arctic circle taking the night time train heading to Lapland.🙏❤️
Hands down, of course this was my all time favorite. I lost track of how long my mouth was open for
The Snowpierecer line was so under appreciated!
