Thank you for the video Nathan. Those diesel heaters are such a great inexpensive way to heat a campervan or motorhome. Definitely wise to utilise the van's fuel tank rather than using the tank supplied with the kit. Top job and have a great weekend.
Great video Nath, I fitted a brand new second hand Eberspacher removed from a Bt van for £200 , I fitted mine directly underneath the driver seat the way they fit them from factory, the air intake gets recirculated from a vent in the driver side step and blown out warm through the B pillar. I’ve fitted loads of the Chinese ones over the years but they’ve only ever been the 2kw, I’ve hear people say that the 4kw ones are too big to run flat out for transporters and end up sooting up when they are not ran full wack, don’t know how true it is but you can always run it flat out with the windows open or the AC on to cool you down 😂 On the metal heat shield on the van you’ll see a groove to poke the exhaust out into the middle of the van( if you look back at the video 13:58, your hand is blocking the view of the groove). That way all the plastic trims can still be fitted to protect the heater. I’ve been through loads of deep puddles and never had any issues
Great video Nathan, having watched the 'charged' radiator videos that you've done I'm thinking of putting one in my garage. Thanks again and stay well 👌🏻
Great video my friend. I've tried using the 5k heater in a similar sized van and it was to much heat and no matter how much I tried it always generated to much heat. I'm currently using a used D2 Espar that I have about $250 in it and it works great. The heater ramps up when needed and idles back to low or I call super low. It really sips fuel but the only disadvantage is the when it cuts back to super low ( witch is almost off ) the glow plug cycles and thereby drinks a little more dc power. Since the burner is kinda warm already it's not much of a draw. I'm really looking forward to your egr cooler for preheating the engine video. I am interested in aquireing the type of radiators that you are using in your previous videos but haven't located them in the US yet. Thanks again for the content.
When mounted under the vehicle the air intake goes to an inlet you have to cut into the drivers step like the factory installation this then uses recirculated air instead of cold air, the heater outlet cones through the floor under the drivers seat and exits at the back of the seat base. I think you’re right to fit it inside as the electrics in the Chinese heaters are not weatherproof.
I installed one of these underneath my T5 last weekend, seems to be running great - Just wondered why you didn't install underneath the van and went for the internal under the seat option? Love the vids mate, keep 'em comin (oh ye!)
Those chinese made heaters are the dogs danglies, I definitely recommend them. Two things I have found with them is after running on low for long periods they need running on high for a good half hour or so to burn the crap deposits from the burn chamber. Second thing is that if the power is left on the display back lights eventually stop working. I fitted a switch to isolate the power when not in use. Only thing to be careful of is that the power is not switched off whilst heater is running or running the cool down cycle.
Most people say a 5kw is too big for a T5, it just means people are using them on minimum always which can soot them up quicker, better to have a smaller 2kw & run it harder
Hi there I'm new to diesel heaters but did buy one the other day that's complete you just put fuel in it connect it up to a good battery because like you said it does draw a lot of amps turn it on and away you go pretty much, if you google the one I've just added let me know what you think of it and if you've used it before please. Sunster 12V 24V Air Diesel Night Heater 8KW bluetooth Remote RV Home Tent Camper
With all the rain and floods we're getting in Britain, I would think its best to fit inside too. Not sure how well these heaters will stand up to heavy splashing or being submerged.
That will be the black gasket on the bottom, if you eBay search diesel heater gasket you will see a red silicone one, that’s the one you need and it won’t smell 👍
Would be interested in the exhaust noise on tickover and max. This is because we user out caravan on sites with other vans within a couple of meters Thanks in advance
Great video as per my man! Couple questions caddy related, I’m thinking I’m gunna get one in my maxi but also have rear seats so behind the front seats are a no, any ideas on where else would work? Also… should I go 1/2kw or 5 kw for the caddy?
Hi mate what is the best way to connect the fuel to the heater I've seen people say to connect to the fuel return pipe but I would of thought that's only when the van is running so don't think that would be good when parked up
This is bad puts same video on both channels definitely milking it now and max speeding rods must be paying him some money it’s all he takes about just shows he gets it all for free as I have them on my car and there shit can’t wait to change them 🤬
Hey bud sorry you see it that way, I don’t get payed for showing the parts but that would be nice. Reason I showed the video on here is because the last few videos is about diesel heaters and this was my take on installing one. This channel also has different viewers only about heaters and not about the van. I do get sent the stuff to try but I’ve been making videos for 4 years without being payed so if you still call them free 🤷. Oh and one last thing I made a completely different video from the main channel I havnt just posted 2 of the exact same video. Again sorry you feel this way 👍
@ respect to you mate for coming back to me politely I have been watching your channel for years I have a t5 which is why I watch your channel would like you to go into a bit more detail when you show how things are done if possible 👍
@@jonaahanwestwood7891 ah man I hate bad vibes and I’m so glad you read my reply and replied again. Thank you for your comments I appreciate all of them. I did feel abit funny about posting a similar video on both channels but I didn’t use any footage from the main channel. I have slightly moved away from lots and lots of info as some people said blimey you talk to much 😂 I guess I can’t please everyone. I do one short type of video then the next will be more in detail hoping to keep everyone engaged. Again thank you for replying 🙏 Nathan
I watched plenty of diesel heater installs before opting for a Autoterm heater in my van… you pay your money & take your risks… I also installed a cheap one at home & like most things installer errror can account for 90% of problems with these heaters, people are trying to extend the exhaust, run them on the wrong fuel & lots of other stuff
They are most definitely NOT “all the same “! Those Chinese ones are very poor quality versus the main brands. They won’t last, regularly throw error codes. Have very poor quality exhaust and silencing. They come with very poor fuel supply hose and this is also responsible for error codes. Many van lifers with diy converted vans find these out quickly. You definitely get what you pay for and would you want to be sleeping on top of one of these in your camper or motorhome? Definitely not!

You definitely get what you pay for and would you want to be sleeping on top of one of these in your camper or motorhome? Definitely not! There are different power output types to think about depending on the volume your heating and what the exterior temperature could go down to. You get 3kw, 5kw 8kw etc etc plus they use various elec power to start up and run, therefore you need to think about where that power will draw from and how that will be regenerating
I believe Nathan remarked in a previous video that the Max Peeding Rods diesel heater came with the good stuff such as the better fuel line and quieter fuel pump. I would have no hesitation in using the Max Peeding Rod or other Chinese heater with the upgraded fuel line and pump in a motorhome as opposed to a Webasto or Erbacher one, but hey everyone is different and that's what makes the world an interesting place. Have a great weekend.
Those two brands are the very best and safest. Fitted to Mercedes vehicles, ambulances and other service vehicles around the world for a reason. My one in my 2017 Merc Sprinter minibus hasn’t missed a beat.

Had a Chinese heater 6 years under seat . Never had trouble . Poxy eberspacher in camper underneath decided not to work when it’s bloody needed ,

lol the return air is piped from the inside of the van. Ie the drivers step. Full air circulation. Always better outside.

Hi bud they do get a roar on, on high speed, you can actually put 2 exhaust box’s in a row and makes a big difference to noise level 👍
If you ever work on a skoda yeti, could you see if there is enough room to fit a diesel heater? Great vids cheers.

Ah yeh 👍
Does the fitting of one of these Chinese heaters void the vans insurance?
Hey Greg I’m unsure on that one bud so if you wanted to make sure a phone call to and insurer would clear it up 👍

Straight from the main tank or an isolated diesel tank.
Do U know how id fit to main tank
I saw one guy run the exhaust through a sand battery, the heat is coming out of it for hours after
Hey David I’ve seen a video about a guy building a sand heater to, great idea 👍
Was your diesel filled exhaust silencer not upside down with the drip hole not at the bottom?
