Try priming the fuel pump line to the carb as well as from the tank Cavitation can occur since it was onhooked. Essentially it resembles a vapor lock nothing to loose...😊
Electronic fuel pump is the way to go. I recently put an electric fuel pump into my 1929 Chev Street Rod (283 sb) after having had a mechanical pump on it since 1998. I don't start it up that often and when I do it always seem to take several attempts to get it to start. With the electronic pump installed it's like having fuel injection, first turn of the key and she fires.
For the little bit that it ran it sounded strong. Might want to check how much fuel pressure is recommended to get a electric fuel pump that is close to correct. Cool truck 👌 🇨🇦 👍
The oil is fine for the initial break in. You don't want to be to thick and stretch the new bearings. I say that's a win on the starting and a new fuel pump should do the trick. I don't have white Christmas celebrations here either it only snows in the mountains. We are a few feet above sea level. When I was in the Army I had snow in S. Korea. And back east. Lol. Happy holidays Dif and your mates too. Take care guys.
40 or 50 weight is just fine in that old thing, no worries there at all. If anything making sure it runs all the way to full temp before shutting down is more important than 40 vs 50. I probably wouldn't put 30 in it though with all the weight it's going to pull around on itself though. That's my 2 cents
I had a fuel pump not work once. On the bench, when you operated the lever it would make all the sucking froggy noises. Once installed, nothing. Come to find out, on the end of the lever, it should have a plastic tip that runs on the cam. Without it, the lever was too short and basically did nothing .
Have you tried to put some pressure on the fuel lines or the entire fuel tank with some compressed air? It might be a good idea to check first if the lines are not clogged before you buy a new pump.
Don't like mechanical pumps without priming levers ol' mate. Remember a pusher electric pump goes near tank. BTW, you did angle the pump arm to top of cam?
Mrs Richards: "I paid for a room with a view !" Basil: (pointing to the lovely view) "That is Torquay, Madam ." Mrs Richards: "It's not good enough!" Basil: "May I ask what you were expecting to see out of a Torquay hotel bedroom window ? Sydney Opera House, perhaps? the Hanging Gardens of Babylon? Herds of wildebeest sweeping majestically across the plains?..." Mrs Richards: "Don't be silly! I expect to be able to see the sea!" Basil: "You can see the sea, it's over there between the land and the sky." Mrs Richards: "I'm not satisfied. But I shall stay. But I expect a reduction." Basil: "Why?! Because Krakatoa's not erupting at the moment ?"
The bare foot mechanic, that is living dangerous. You never know when something can fall. I had a guy let a Cat D4 drive sprocket fall on my foot. Landed above the steel toes. Badly bruised with no broken bones. Had to use crutches for 3 days.
Dumping fuel in one hand while both mates smoke cigarettes. Priceless...
Tell the Barefoot Mechanic he's going to lose that beard and eyebrows if he's not careful. Good thing the engine didn't backfire.
I know I'm surprised YT didn't pull the video because of them smoking
A cigarette can't ignite gas
Sound great ,nice and smooth. Not only dose it look good , heck it even runs.
Little bumble bee had a spin👊
High zink oil is what i use in all my old motors I like Rotella T 15 40 diesel oil

I think I’d have to scatter some legos around the shop floor for the bare foot mechanic. 😂😂😂

Almost got the Reo running hey Div....Maybe pour some fuel down in the mechanical fuel pump to wet up the diaphram?
Sometimes you can prime the fuel pump with some petrol and it will come around. Valves maybe sticking.
Thanks for sharing Diff. Great work Wayne. But Jason seemed a bit out of place helping with the REO.. now I see why!.. He lost his bearings!
