  • JUST TO CLARIFY SOMETHING HERE --
I am not completely ending this, just I wanted to explain why videos are so few and far now. I want to do a few once in a while, just they won't be often.
Change is inevitable in everybody's life, friends come and go, interests and hobbies come and go, and as people get older things just change about their life.
My life has changed quite a lot. This video is me talking about that.
I'm not completely done, there probably is going to be some videos occasionally.
    Thank you everybody!

You're all good. I understand thoroughly for this video, and I appreciate how you clarified and explained this "temporary departure" really well. Thank you for that
Also, I must say, that's a really nice Fire-Lite MiniScan panel you got in the background! It also looks fairly rare from my eyes too (like almost more than 4 zones?)

@@fireandalarm1234 it is a very rare model, it's from the late 1980s.
this one I actually got brand new in box, which was really unique to find in that condition.

+Official NewAgeServerAlarm Most of the MiniScans I see are the MS-4024 model, and are like less than 4 zones, so I'm not surprised this is a much rarer model.
Darn straight that's unique! Maybe even more unique than the guy that unboxed that NIB Simplex 2001. Great job on getting that though!

Man, you were probably one of the most "inspiring" fire alarm collectors from the 2000s of them all (besides thesdx, at least for me lol). If this really is your last goodbye, then I thank you for being pretty much one of the best fire alarm enthusiasts/collectors I can remember, and for also keeping the fire alarm community thriving and alive, instead of being "dead".
I understand why you can't stay. And all I can really say is I hope the best of luck for you whatever happens in the long run. Life can be excruciating hectic for sure, but all I know is sometimes it's for the better, even for your once favorite hobby/hobbies.
Take care Andrew, and once again, thank you for being an awesome, thoughtful, and truly memorable fire alarm collector of them all.

I honestly feel the same exact way as you have described in the video, I haven't made videos myself in forever, mostly due to a loss of interest. I started watching alarm videos back in later 2007, and I remember stumbling upon your homemade fire alarm system videos on your main channel. Ever since then, the interest exploded, and I eventually started my own collection, and started making more videos (a little different than the usual fire alarm videos, more focused on individual devices themselves). Over time, I grew more and more busy, especially with school, college, and now starting my career. Not to mention, I gained interest in new subjects and started gradually losing interest in this particular subject and admittedly getting increasingly frustrated with "obsessed idiots" (even though I was one at one point 😀).
I'm certainly sad to see you go, but I must say the videos you have produced on your other channel are really cool. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you do with your other hobbies (computers, the phone systems, etc). I still look forward to the occasional video on here as well (no pressure though). Thank you for 11 years of videos!

NewEnglandElevators I saw this coming, but I can’t believe how sad it is to see you both go as well. Last year, Thesdx and FireAlarm5000 did something similar. To this and that was rather sad as well. It isn’t all sad though, because you two inspired a lot of people (myself included) to express their interest in something like fire alarms. I can also understand the few and far between videos, and that’s how life goes, but now that I know that my favorite enthusiasts are mostly done, it makes me wonder, who’s left?

Just thinking about it, You were one of the smartest alarm collectors. You have a lot of unique and very rare devices that no other collectors have. And even having the brain to make 3 or 4 Homemade panels. But still, I understand that people have a change of interest once in a while. Thank you so much for the videos. I started watching your channel a long time ago. When I was about 7 maybe. I’m 13 now. A little after the time I started watching your channel I had four pull stations, and no alarms. I still have all the pull stations but now I have some alarms to go with it as well, and my collection is expanding. I watched your videos on a really old channel that I didn’t own, and the channel I’m typing on is my most-modern channel.
You may notice it doesn’t have anything to do with fire alarms. That’s because I stopped interest in them. I got more interest in trains, road safety, and mainly safety all together. Because I got into safety, I learned in school about how horrible fire safety was all aprine the 1800’s and all the horrible accidents that killed thousands because all the building owners refused to accept the fact that they needed fire safety. Specifically the accidents that happened in NYC in the late 1800’s. Because I was so into safety, this really got me mad. And so I payed more attention to those four pull stations sitting on my dresser.
Fast forward a little more than a month and I’m currently planning on making a cheap, no-panel fire alarm system around my house (or at least the top floor and in my room cause my parents won’t like that idea). I found your channel again and watching all those old videos make me so happy. When I start high school this year I’m gonna take a special school with electrical classes, carpentry classes, and maybe a few others. During that time I plan to upload videos on my fire alarms on this channel, possibly changing my channel’s name. Hope my adventure is just as fun as yours was. Wish me luck!
*Oh one last thing, those communities with all those people you talked to, could you give me to link to it? Or possibly another community? Or maybe anyone can send me a link to one they use? I just need to find one sooner than later to help me get started. I’ve found forums before but never a community. Thanks!*

Thank you for inspiring me and many others to make fire alarm videos. About 6 years ago in elementary school we had a fire drill which I normally didn’t care for. For some reason something in me “clicked” and I started noticing the alarms in school and other places. About 2 years later I got my first alarm (Wheelock RSS) and I found out how to wire it and I found out many people on RUclips actually collect them. After that I have had some periods of obsession but I think I’ve passed that now and I have a slowly growing collection with a homemade panel inspired by the 5001-DC. Your videos for me were pretty neat and without you I probably would have dropped the interest. Once again, thank you.

Hello everyone. In the life, there are natural changes, mandatory changes and voluntary changes. For example, when your attitude is bad, it's necessary to change, if you refuse to change, the other person is always sad. When someone is graduated, it's mandatory to change school, even if he doesn't like it, the best choice is to choose a new school which his good friend goes. In fact, there are things that it's not necessary to change, if you're not tired of the same thing, you have choice, if they live in US, they can keep their American accent, it's not necessary to change.

I knew it would eventually come to this, but don't feel too bad, I myself have sorta felt the same way about collecting alarms recently. (even though I've never uploaded videos of any of them) I started watching your videos around the time you uploaded System Test 26 I believe. (now System Test 26.1) I technically discovered your videos before then, but System Test 26 was the first new video I watched on your channel. I believe the first channel I started with was Xsk8r114, (now Zotti) and then thanks to him I found your channel. While I don't do much alarm-related stuff anymore, I still have a wealth of knowledge about them and still a pretty decent collection. I'll keep a look-out on both your channels for new content. Well Andrew, goodbye I guess, (the alarm side of you that is) and best of luck in your future endeavors

Yeah, I've been feeling this way for a few years now. Once you install a system and change out several different alarms, it just gets old very quickly. I do plan to hold my alarms until I'm an older adult, though. The interest does come back briefly on occasion. One of these days when I have more time, I need to re-create my poorly filmed "how-to" videos.

Thank you for all the years with the System Tests and everything. I remember first watching System tests (not your channel specifically) when I was maybe 5 or 6 years old. Maybe even 4. I know, Crazy right. No other kids I knew at would know much about fire alarms. Just like you, I thought very different as kid than the other kids especially when it came to fire alarms. I got fire alarm pull-stations because your channel and I still have them to this day. I have been watching your channel since I want to say 2014 or 2013, I don’t remember and The first one I watched was System Test 26.1. I loved the video because you presented a lot about the fire alarm and what it is etc.
Thank you for taking your time all these years to make videos of System Tests and others. I hope you enjoy your own free time.

My Elementary School had the EST Integrity alarms. My middle School had the Simplex True alert alarms, and the pull stations were the Simplex 42-51-20 T-Bar pull stations, and one of my high schools had only the EST Genesis alarms. My other one Chad a mixture of the EST Genesis alarms, and the EST Integrity alarms

Thank you for starting my interest in alarms.
So for me it started when my school was being remodeled and all the old simplex horn strobes were slowly being replaced with TrueAlerts. Four years later I was in 5th grade and it was summer break. My curiosity got the best of me and I decided to search fire alarm and see what I would find. I saw your video Home system test 26 and then I was hooked. So another four years later (present time) I have long ago lost my fear of alarms and now I have a small collection plan on adding on more as well. If it wasn't for you I'd probably still be terrified of fire alarms and wouldn't be in this community.
Who knew I would have the same fire alarm model that terrified me as a young child in my collection eight years later😅

I’ve been a huge fan since 2016. Obviously, I’ve not caught up very well with vids, but Ive always caught the inspiration from your videos, and I’ve actually been searching up how to program a circuit board, because I’ve always wanted to build my own panel as well (though I’m not too bad at Java, I still have no idea how to program a board, probably requires Python IDK). Heck, I even made a vid recently on me making a fire alarm system in Minecraft Pocket Edition (sorry NewAgeServer, I know you told us not to play Minecraft because it messes up our wrists)

I became interested in a similar way. My security system went off when I was little and my brother and sister were scared half to death. I wasn't scared of the alarm. I looked on youtube and typed in, "Security System." I saw a video from GootSecurity and from there, the hobby became a passion.

When I was a little kiddo, I had a traumatic experience with a EST Integrity and a small elementary school bathroom. And after I hit middle school I was determined to find the alarm and figure out the alarms around me. Then I stumbled across you and FireAlarmJrTech9 and you guys found that alarm. I used to listen to the videos daily to conquer the fear of the fire alarms. Without you, I would still cower in fear of alarms.

I’ve been in this community since mid 2010, and it’s sad to see a once mighty community of people once brought together by something a little unorthodox dissipate. I’ve never been one to dwell on the past, but when I watch old videos in this channel, or on other old alarm channels I used to watch, it’s hard not to feel the nostalgia. Those were better days. I will say, I’m less sad to see a channel go down when there’s a video like this. It gives closure. Maybe this is symbolic in its own way. Everyone in the alarm community that I used to watch is also getting older, and it’s easy to forget about that. I’ll miss the days when twoplyboy was still going strong and people actually put time and effort into their home fire alarm systems, but it is what it is, and at some point we all have to grow up.

Back in 2009 I was in kindergarten, and we had our first fire drill. Simplex 2903-9101 with 2901-9833 horns on continues, it was the most terrifying thing that ever happened to me, I began to have nightmares about the alarm, I was scared to go to school because of it, I thought it was the 2098-9642 smoke detectors the school had that made the sound. But my dad gave me his old Windows XP work laptop to me after he got a new Vista one, I finally got to watch RUclips more then I could before, and that's when I got an idea, I could go on RUclips and watch videos of fire alarms going off to get over my fear of them, that same night I started to watch those videos I started getting interested in the different types of alarms out there, and that's when I realized the smoke detectors didn't make the sounds, it was the alarms in the wall. And that's when I discovered your homemade fire alarm videos, and that's when I to began to notice more alarms in different buildings, and I started to learn the model names and many other things about them, I would go to Safeway with my dad and point at the System Sensor Spectralert Classics and tell him what it was, I later found out what the model name of the alarms at my school, Simplex 2903 light plates the 9101 strobe version and I wanted to buy my own... In 2011 when I came back to school for first grade after my alarm filled summer I wasn't scared of the alarm anymore, I kept looking at them when I would walk under them, I had done it, I was no longer scared of Fire Alarms, and when it was time for a drill, I didn't jump or freak out, I listened to them and thought about how much I wanted my own, one day I looked on Ebay for a 2903 and there was one for sale, for 20$, I didn't have the money for it, and my dad wouldn't by it for me... I was really sad, but that year, I discovered Tornado Sirens, and started to learn about those, and the interest in Fire Alarms slowly went away, and in 2012 all interest in alarms went away, they weren't fun anymore, I knew all their names, I had no way to see them go off in person. Through out the years I would comeback and watch short showcases of alarms on RUclips, like the same 2903-9101 I had at my school, around the same time I had a chance to go back to my elementary school to watch my Sister's graduation thing, I wanted to see my old friend, the 2903 in the main office that I would look at every time I got to school, but when I got there it was replaced with a True-Alert all of them... Except for one 2901-9838 outside at the basketball court, they upgraded the system in 2018 4 years after I graduated myself, in 2019 I started to find interest in Tornado Sirens again, and I began to re-learn all the names of them, and port ratios and that thought came to my mind, I wonder how the fire alarm community is doing? Your channel came to mind again, and I came back and watched some of your old videos like System test 26 with all the 2903s you had, but I quickly stopped and it fell off again, but come 2020 I remembered the day when I almost had my dream alarm, the 2903-9101 and I wanted to finally get my paws on one, I looked on Ebay and there was nothing... I kept looking everyday and nothing... I told ebay to contact me if someone listed anything with "Simplex" or "2903" in the name and there was nothing for weeks, but one day something told me to look again, I was on RUclips and I saw a video about a tornado siren and that thought came to mind again, there has to be something there... So I looked, and sure enough, someone listed a 2903-9101 on Ebay, only they listed it as a fire alarm light plate, I bought that faster then you could blink an eye, I will be getting it in two days, a dream of mine that I had 9 years ago, finally came true. Thank you for making my childhood great! And allowing me to get over my fear of Fire Alarms and rather to enjoy them and look at them, thank you!

I’m probably the only British person commenting o this video lol. However I just wanted to say that I believe your videos are the only reason I got hooked on fire alarms and I have been subscribed to this channel for quite some time. I understand that things change. I’ve had 2 main interests in my life ( toilet and fire alarms) and idk what the next one will be. I guess what I wanted to say is thanks for shaping the community and assisting new comers into finding what they enjoy.
Also this comment is awkwardly late so don’t be weirded out
EDIT: ignore the toilet thing, it sounds weird but I’m slightly autistic and a symptom of that is fixated interests.

As someone who had been producing content for many years, I feel like the same thing is gonna happen to me as well. I kinda saw this coming for me a few years back, to be honest.
Although, at the time of writing this, videos are being pushed out to my channel at least once every day, with many more coming within the next few months. The reality of that, however, is that a majority of those videos were all uploaded back in April 2020 (just before Easter), and weren't scheduled until about a few weeks later, and that was quite an exhausting process. But I digress...
Aside from the stuff I do IRL (e.g. my job), I also produce content outside of my fire alarm hobby (and have been for about as long as I had _inside_ the hobby), my passion for it is so strong, it has made me begin to lose interest in producing fire alarm content.

I have to say, I do credit you as an inspiration for my interest in fire alarms. I started watching fire alarm videos way back in 2009 when I was around 7 years old. I watched your videos, Weatherdan882002’s videos, xsk8r114’s videos and coffeeandsugar20’s videos back then. I didn’t start making videos until I was 14 in 2016 when I realized the potential in making videos. I have had those interest peaks, and then right after, I started to lose interest. I plan to take this interest into a career as I do know someone who could find me a position as a fire alarm technician at my school district after graduate high school and get certifications, unless someone has taken the position, then I’ll work for the company who services the alarm systems in the school district.
Thank you for putting that spark in my interest, I wouldn’t be a fire alarm enthusiast if you didn’t exist, thanks!

I would like to know which fire alarm horn/strobe is the loudest and most earsplitting as well in terms of how much decibels they are. This question is in regards to all models and makes including Simplex, Wheelock, System Sensor, EST, Mircom, Gentex, Spaceage, Siemans, etc. Can you rank many of them from loudest to least loud?

I fascinated of fire alarms too since during fire drills I pulled the BG-10 with a Stopper cover at my high school and since my school are code 3 horns and continuous horns which they are Wheelock AS's in the school building as well is the wheelock ZNS and outside old Wheelock MT's and I also heard the fire alarm over a hobby lobby store they are the Ceiling system sensor Spectralert classics it just went off in code 3.
And I fascinated of weather sirens too I record all of my siren videos I put it on my channel. That's it 🙂

Your videos inspired my home system and I noticed in your last video you even said that you weren’t going to be making videos that much anymore and I get it it takes a lot of time to make an edit a video especially with RUclips‘s censorship crap now going through the roof that’s actually one of the biggest reasons why none of my videos are on RUclips as I hear this is eventually going to spread two Instagram so this is also making me a little bit nervous I don’t make very many alarm videos because it starts to take the fun out of the hobby. I’ve settled on some devices in my system that I don’t really change unless they absolutely need to be changed! So if I don’t make fire alarm videos on my Instagram it’s not because my fire alarm interest is gone it’s more so the interest for making fire alarm videos is gone. Because after a while it gets to be a pain in the ass especially when you have to make a multi part one minute video of your home addressable system it gets to be a real pain in the ass!:/ thank you for your inspiration your system has inspired me to spread my system through my house. Or at least the back part of my house where I was allowed to!👍🏻😉😂
