- I mentioned lists. I thought they'd be short but it turns out they are VERY long. Instead, I made a web app. All you have to do is punch in the model number.

Heh heh, i'm kinda surprised nobody noticed that I changed the font on the title sequence! The first few titles are in Kabel, and the last one is in Highway (DOT Standard font for road signs on the united states highway network)
13:06 I like how the Federal Signal horns plates and I strobe are highly customizable so you can change the appearance whatever you want before actually setting it up on the wall and connecting it to whatever control box like for example, if you wanna have remote strobe connected to a play if you wanna have it with a horn you can connect to the horn or if you want to transparent I strobe you can swap out the fused, one with a transparent i strobe
And if one of your Federal Signal i strobes burn out, doesn’t matter swap it
In these federal horns and strobes are really good starter fire alarms because you can just easily set them up in your own home as long as you purchase a fire alarm control box, and annunciator first before starting off with your own fire, alarms, smoke detectors, and more. So you mean with the shop around before you settle down

Crap
When ur ex calls 🤣
Back way before the L-series
I just wanna say thank you so much for giving me tips on how to find and buy some fire alarms online. And enjoyed watching your system test videos
Yeah! My current collection count right now is about 120 without the duplicates. It's a neat hobby. Like your interest, I like the history and the interesting-ness behind each one.
when I am older probably gonna start collecting these... I guess this is a good place to start!
I was lucky to get a Simplex 2901-9838 and a 4251-20 from a building
Which one?
@@elevatoralarmcoasterandarc1214 It was an old Gym that was demolished years ago
Lol the difference between 2 and 4 wire isn’t how fast they sound. 2 wire means that the horn and strobe are combined onto one 2 wire circuit and requires synch for audible silence. 4 wire means that the horn and strobe are on their own circuits and require separate power.
10:57 we have these at school with 9838s
It’s called the 4903-9838
I meant the alarm with the 2901-9838:
4903-9101 + 2901-9838 = 4903-9838
I Love Your System Tests please keep uploading more system tests
16:49 (phone rings) Andrew: "Crap."
wow this video is 9 days before my birthday!
Wishing I watched this before buying my first alarm; not that I have any regrets with my first alarm ( it was a lightly used Simplex 4051 ). Still this is an extremely helpful video
Oh, good thanks, It was my first notification device.
-Connor
16:49 ***CellPhone Rang*** Andrew: CRAP!
A little update for 2021, this video is still quite relevant, however system sensor L series, and wheelock exceeders make good first alarms.
My school was built in the 1920's and it's just a big clusterfuck of alarms and pull stations, oh and there's some chevron pulls in there with the original glass bar
When you are talking about simplex truealert, you know the truealert series have all three kinds of fire alarm. Speaker strobe, Remote strobe, and horn strobe
*****
My elementary and middle school had the siemens horn, but they were the mechanical version and branded FOS. My elementary school had them replaced with Commanders.
My favorite notification appliances are speaker strobes because they can be used more than for fire alarm such purposes such as tornado warning, a lockdown alarm, background music, or even a PA for announcements. They require an external audio source such as a voice evac panel, require a deeper box to accommodate the loudspeaker and transformer, and are more expensive which are the cons of it.
My first alarm was a Simplex 2901-9806! My dad and I didn’t know better, so we powered it with 120VAC. Guess I have a Pyrotronics HAC-120 that makes smoke!
Bruh check the voltage before that. Guess your 9806 is overpowered and broken. Always look around the alarm to see tags and the volts
Very nice video on first fire alarm buyers on your tips and tricks on Notification Appliances.
my 8 yr old LOVES to watch your videos...his top 2 questions are: a) where do you get all your equipment? (pull stations, etc) b) did you hook them up or did you hire an electrician? thanks!
in case yours still wondering:
1. he got them from some Fire Alarm forums, by trading, or from second hand reseller websites like Ebay.
2. he wired up most of the system by himself (i think). i’m assuming this because in multiple videos that “i added into the system and ran a cable under the walkway to the garage” or likewise.
hope this help!
I guess he's right about Simplex not being good with models because I got a Simplex speaker strobe by accident, but the model is a 4903-9136. That's not a model for the 4903.
The Wheelocks are set to Code-3 and the Simplex Truealerts are set to continues with a 110 CD strobe
thanks! helped me out for buying some new alarms
Would you mind doing a video with a single stroke bell in marchtime
I think he did already.
9:15 this isn't a problem if you have a Simplex 4905-9938 Sync Module but ALL Simplex Alarms except the AC ones need a panel that puts out DC or a power supply of some sort. FWR will kill Simplex.
I have a simplex truealert that I recently got, it's a smart sync model. Unfortunately I didn't watch this video until after I got the alarm. I was wondering, are there any other ways to wire these with out buying a sync module?
hi how was ur easter how can u tell me about the 9838
9:10 my favorite
truealert
My school has these alarms, Wheelocks, system sensor P Series,System Sensor Classic,an unknown fire bell, and some unknown horns
I know this is pretty obvious but this video is set for people who don’t have a panel or module. If you have a simplex panel and a module you can get the new 2 wire truealert and it will work
I started out with a classic Spectre alert horn strobe and a ceiling mount one as well once again I started out with two classic Spectre alert one that mount on the wall and one that mounts on the ceiling and they're both horn strobes and they're red both for wire to!
Question: you can wire some of these alarms to play things other than just a beeping sound right?
We have those MASS alarms at my school. They are the ADA strobe ( The opposite MASS in the video. They are in 800 continuous. The other half of my school has EST genesis.
Annnnnnnndddddddddrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwww! Where are you? We want more system tests! It’s been a lot of years Since you posted!
Yeah, and the fact that E70s are used with Notifier systems, and that they might have switched to Symplex. No need to switch the speaker (hint, hint) that is like any soundsystem speaker (hint, hint).
Hi there. I'm new to your channel. I love your fire alarm notification appliances. Wheelock MT's are awesome. What an amazing collection. I love to start my own fire alarm collection.
Real brother, or figuritve brother?
“This Wheelock 7002t they are older but quite common and quite cheap” that didn’t age well
you said it
I found some HW of these on Amazon I bought one and now they have 19 of them left.
the 2903 light plates are very common from my point of view. At my school they are everywhere. They are also at the schools that my relatives in other states go to.
The weird thing is they all have 2901-9806's behind them.
Lucky, I have never seen one before in person
Hey NewAge, the link appears to be broken so can you put the list back in the description. And just to share, the first arm I bought, and is still shipping, is a System Sensor RP241575ADA.
Use this one: thefirepanel.com/fabg/simpcheck.php
That one's gone too.
you forgot a trap. The 7002T and the older wheelock horns can come in many voltages
2 wire is the best
ScantPear 809896 I agree
4 wire works better but 2 wire is more simple, I can see why you like it.
16:50 crap. Lol
A really good horn strobe is the Ummt horn strobe.
There is a wheelock ZNS, that's rebranded by siemens!
Are 9838's ok to buy?
Fire alarms are awesome because when you test them you test them with a pull station and the beep beep beep nosies
Questions about the federal signal remote strobes:
1. Which model numbers are Ada compliant?
2. Can federal signal strobes synchronize with any strobe from a different company.
The fire alarms at my school are SpectrAlert classics.
Interesting how most federal signal alarms are 4 wire if they have a Vals strobe or a I strobe on top, vs my 450D C2 is 2 wire with the Val’s strobe because it is soldered on to the alarm.
I might just need to snip the wires to the strobe in half and use wire nuts instead to wire it so that I can take the strobe someplace elsewhere.
My school uses the Simplex 4903-9219
You can get 'em off ebay, or you can look around for buildings upgrading their fire alarm systems to new ones and ask for their old devices.
I like the NS
I have a couple questions about the 2903's.
A. Why was the light taken out of the first one?
B. Why are two of the wire leads form the strobe plate cut off as well as two of them on the 4903-9101?
In your 3rd video at the end, you warned, "don't buy addressable ones unless you have a panel that's compatible."
Question (1) How can you tell whether a addressable detector will be compatible?
Question (2) Are Apollo and Gamewell smoke detector parts interchangeable?
The thing I like about bells is I jam on them like an instrument
My first fire alarm was a 4903 9101 and 9840
Nice! My first fire alarm is a Spectralert PC2W that I got back in 2013, though I never got to continue the collection. I once almost got an old non-working Simplex 2903 light plate with a big bell attached to it from a school I used to go to and I even got to held it once and it had quite the weight to it likely from the bell, but it ended up being repaired and sent to another school which is still good.
@@sethhorst6158 that's cool
7002Ts are getting pretty rare nowadays (I know this video was like almost 6 years ago. But yeah). Just though I'd point that out. 34Ts (7002T without the strobe or skipping sound) and 7004Ts (AC-version of the 7002T. I think) though are kind of common for the most part
fireandalarm1234 with eBay, that is totally true.
+TechP2018 Agreed
+EpicMario73542 Me too. Good, mostly reliable source for alarms
They still make 34T'S
+Cancerguy Wantscancer I've seen a lot of those lately on eBay. Interesting.....
Also, Non-SmartSync TrueAlerts sound different (to me) than SmartSync TrueAlerts. Maybe because they have different piezo-horns or something. I don't really know...
System Sensor made the SpectrAlerts. Both Classic and Advanced.
Miniman0404 Also they made the L-Series
16:49 : "A surprise is coming". 16:51 *phone rings* Well i guess it WAS a surprise
You missed the alarm next to the 4903-9238
The AS can be set as a remote strobe through a jumper.
hey have you seen my russian filter video on my other channel (NewAgeServer) ? Think you might like that.
You should do a simplex true alert special for the next system test
I would also recommend the Spectralert advance HR
I have no idea what's going on I can't watch your videos I can only watch my own if you know what's going on please let me know.
For the p2r you can change the tone to electricurl or chime
Learned: Wheelock is good
Learned: Wheelock is annoying
+22megaton learned: wheelock is better than system sensor
akita malamute
learned: wasn't comparing them
@@22megaton29 dude, wheelock is awesome. They make cool alarms, and they have some vintage
i love my wheelock ch70
zns is in my school and thanks for helping me out with buying, im that simplex guy
I don't know if I chose well, I got a 2903-9838 for my first one
Its 2901 9838 lol
The classic spectralert is getting less common as time goes by
11:05 my old school had these! wonder if they'll replace them
I bet no time soon
Thank You SO MUCH! Remember me? im that simplex guy love your video
Why do the GOS and the GXS have a horizontal strobe?
celling mount
My first alarm was a Simplex 4903 with a 2901-9838
so I got my MT and the Advance last week. I'm kinda surprised because I found the MT just as loud as the Advance, even though everyone says the Advance is the loudest alarm there is. Are some Spectralert Advance horn/strobes louder than others or something? I got a P2RH and I wonder if that makes a difference or not.
Wow! That app is sooo cool!!!
the problems you mentioned with the Simplex numbering could that be the reason why a lot of installers will have a Simplex panel, pulls, and annunciators but the notification appliances are wheelock and others?
my first alarm was a wheelock as. it is a really good alarm
I could probably get a Speaker/Strobe as I have a good amplifier with an aux input.
there is also a wheelock MT-24 LSM that sounds a lot like the wheelock AS
I want to see everything you put up for System Test 30 even the pull stations. Can you do a sneak peek of System Test 30?
Integrity sound rocks
Im not a fan of the Wheelock AS and Spectrualert advance because They are both Loud and obnoxious.
Super Luigi I'm so used to the AS because I had then at school and now I have them at work (although the fire alarm doesn't go off at work anywhere near as much as it did at school)
Super Luigi we have wheelocks at our school and they sound like they are dying because they are not as loud as they should be... actually they’re pretty quiet
Halon Poisoning I just have extremely sensitive hearing.
Super Lu1gi in middle school(8th grade) I was in a portable for my study skills class, and in that portable there’s a Wheelock MT-24-LSM, and one day there was a lockdown drill and it raped everyone’s ears, no matter how far away you were from it, and the strobe is 75 cd
If I understand correctly, the way that the horns are wired is:
2-wire: simply 24V and GND.
4-wire: 24V and GND for horn, and 24V and GND for strobe.
Is this correct?
@NewAgeServerAlarm I thought you were going to do pull stations based on the name of the video
Why is a panel necessary for a real life safety system?
My first alarm was a Wheelock NS, which was a two-wire alarm. Not having a panel, I prefer 2 wire alarms over 4 wire alarms because they are easier to wire, and they don’t suck up as much power.
awsome vid not really into fire alarms anymore but awsome collection!
What's the point of 4-wire? Are the extra two terminals for connecting another alarm down the line?
I should get the Siemens U-HN-MCS horn strobe. I think those work the best.
I’d remember when I was in kindergarten the 9028 horn strobes
4 wire sucks 2 wire is the same as 4 wire but we have to make the extra fork in the wire with the 4 wire alarms
What was the horn that you put the I strobe on when demonstrating what Federal Signal does?
Is anyone sure there are ripoff clones of the original fire alarms?
