    Red Clay Traveler has himself a Minnesota winter style wood pile in the yard, and I'm jealous.

    I like the CJ5's roll cage and must have missed the video where you installed it. Manufacturer?

      Actually didn’t film the installment. I didn’t plan on it going so smoothly. It is a smittybilt

    I'm glad to see you getting some stuff done, I know filming adds double or more time to doing the work. I had to give up on mechanical pumps for my cj7 and put in an electric one. I prefer mechanical ones, but I just kept replacing them and they kept letting me down and I just don't trust the parts you can get anymore. Electric ones work great, but when they quit they just kinda quit and leave you stranded, which is also not great. I'll just carry a cheapo electric if my Facet pump dies to get me home I guess.

      I hear you. I have recently heard of a different supplier. I don’t remember the name right now but supposedly the pumps are good.

    Rollmaster timing chain? If so physically make sure its the right one. A few years ago they shipped out a bunch of v8 units in 6 cyl boxes. They are very different.

    • @redclaytraveler1949
      @redclaytraveler1949  2 месяца назад

      I haven’t opened it yet. The box is right but I will verify it soon

    • @redclaytraveler1949
      @redclaytraveler1949  2 месяца назад

      Is the v8 longer?

    • @johndoe43
      @johndoe43 2 месяца назад +2

      @@redclaytraveler1949 the v8 has a large hole and keyway for the cam gear and the 6cyl is a smaller hole next to a small hole for a pin. The center hole is for a single bolt going in to cam. The factory book has a good picture of each. The keyway is only on the v8.

      @@redclaytraveler1949 yeah. When it happened to me they didn't say anything to anybody. The time to find out is not when it's tore down and you open the box. Surprise. They could have notified dealers that bought 6 cyl units. They knew they goofed.

      I get some complaints, but mainly just random hate comments. Bad comments are really quite rare honestly. But I do feel guilty for not getting more done with the Jeeps, not just for the channel, but for myself. The job is a lot of it, but I have a lot of other stuff happening as well. Regardless I am getting more done and progress is being made in the right direction.

      @@redclaytraveler1949I forgot a couple of things as usual. On the chain don't forget to pre soak it before install. I like motor oil and stp 50. 50 mix. On your axle leak I couldn't see where it's coming from but you don't have to pull the knuckle to remove axle. Large hole it slides right through. Hopefully not leaking at diff side seals. Wheel bearing seal would be a lot easier.

    • @redclaytraveler1949
      @redclaytraveler1949  2 месяца назад

      That makes sense on the seal. I would guess it is the outside seal. Yes I will soak this chain, I forgot to when I did the dauntless lol

    • @redclaytraveler1949
      @redclaytraveler1949  2 месяца назад

      If it was leaking on diff side would I see it at the knuckle side? Wouldn’t it be trapped at that seal?

    • @johndoe43
      @johndoe43 2 месяца назад +1

      @@redclaytraveler1949 if at diff it would be coming out of axle tube where u joint meets tube. That's part of what I couldn't see. There is no seal in the tube at the u joint. Only inside diff. So hopefully wheel bearing seal ? There is a small seal for the spindle needle bearing and a forsheda v ring seal for the axle shaft. Be gentle and clean with alcohol and generally can use over. Along with needle bearing. If not rusty clean and re use. New wheel bearing seals for sure. They changed to a dual lip seal so the number in my head for 40 years isn't right. I have new number back at home. Couple days before I get back there.
