Trying to Get This Thing to idle! and Finishing the Fan Shroud...

  • we pick up where we left off in the last video which is working on the fans and fan shroud, then we work on the carburetor and try and get this engine to idle on its own...

    Nice job guys. Hopefully you can get it fatten up a little bit to cure the lean issue and get the drive shaft back so Chris can go from "CIGARETTE TIME" to "SHAKE DOWN TIME"😄😄😄

    Agree open up the secondary some. Make sure you don't open the primary blade too much and uncover the transition slot. It should be square.

      Yeah we had both of them opened exposing to much transfer slots. We squared them up and drilled it. Might have went a little too big though.🤣 Thanks man!✌️

    Don't drill them throttle blades you only have to do that on Edelbrock style carbs with Holley style carb there's a little set screw on the bottom plate on the passenger side u can turn to open the secondaries for it to idle higher then close the front tell the blades are back the the idle jet slots

      Yeah we had them both open up and both were exposing to much transfer slots. So we squared the slots and drill it but we might have went a little too big. Hopefully we can change the air bleed or fuel restrictors to make it a little fatter on idle. 🤣 hell you know we don’t know what we doing! Wish we lived closer we’d let y’all tune it!     Sounds good! Save ur $ and get you an ATM Innovations carb.(only a little minor tweeking needed) "The OLD Man" is right about them. They are NICE pieces and come close right outta the box if you give them plenty of info on what you got. I LOVE mine. Oh yeah... the "people" miss their regular "update" announcement. Need to make that a shirt slogan!

    Turn the air screw clockwise a 1/4 turn at a time,each one on that Holley then flick the gas a couple times. Watch the afr gauge till it comes down. If all 4 idle screws are turned all the way in, put bigger jet’s in the carburetor,all 4 jet’s. Also you can change the air bleeds for different spray ratio. The fuel bowl glass should show 1/8th to quarter full so that it has fuel to start. Just adjusting the up some in clear eye glass sight just might fatten the fuel mixture some. If it runs hot all of a sudden,that’s because you don’t have enough gas to cool everything off. Lean cause’s all kinds of stupid stuff,like that song,( dumb way’s to die), lol 😂

      Yeah we did, we gonna try changing the air bleeds and/ or the fuel restrictors in the idle circuit and the main jets for the rest. Thanks brother!🤙
