- I've journeyed across Norway to film and document the best loop rides the country has to offer. This series will reveal the countless incredible cycling destinations in the land of the midnight sun.
In episode one, we kick off with an exhilarating climb up one of the world's most renowned roads, Lysevegen. This spectacular route traverses the southern mountain range near Stavanger, featuring a fjord cruise, a challenging 27-switchback climb, and a remote mountain pass and valley, all within a 150 km adventure. Welcome to Norway!

that's where our first winter-season kick off takes place (biathlon and cross country😃)
I could watch these views for 10 hours. 10 minutes just isn't enough. Great to see you're back out and away from website development (which is fab too).
You really do sell Norway (in a positive way) Matthew, and your humourous clips in the editing are great!
Thanks for another great video 🚲🙂👍
Wonderful
There is actually a triathlon ThorXtri that starts with the swim in Lysefjorden, bikes up the climb and then along the Suleskard road.
There is also a swimrun named Rockman, funnily enough, that swims and runs around the Lysefjorden. So your suggestion that rockman would be at home there is most definitely true
Finally new video 😊👍😄
My home loop! Always a beautiful ride! And lunch at Byrkjedal is a must ;)
Matthew .. your a legend.. i ride those roads on my motorbike all the time.. with pedals i would be a mess.. keep it up mate. 🫶🏼
Hint.. try Ålgård to Sirdal 💪🏼
And then to Kjerag and down Lysefjord Fjords and boat home to Stavanger and relax 😍
Cross country skier Therese Johaug completed the Lysebotn up race on roller skies in 2021 with the time 30. 45,4.
Just amazing
I love it, Matthew! Nothing too fancy. Just cycling in the Norwegian summer. Perfect!
A week or two before you posted this, i finalised my route planning for my Norway trip and this loop was day 5. It was good, though i have preferred most of my other rides. I started at Ådneram and the long drop to Lauvvik is pretty, but I'd climbed up to Folgefonna glacier the day before so it had a lot to live up to!
The ferry ride was lovely. I rode around in circles around Lysebotn to warm up again and enjoyed the climb. The remaining 20km back to Ådneram were stunning but the traffic was hideous.
Glad to have you back, Matt. The breathtaking scenes just never end, do they? 😅
great to see you back with a new film.
Perfekt start på dagen å oppdage ny video 👍😃
Superb mathew👍👍🙌🙌
😍 looks amazing to cycle in 🇳🇴 super vlog Simon👌
Thanks for another episode of great cycling scenes! On my Fjord Norway trip last year I really wanted to do a detour from Stavanger in order to cycle the loop, but I was too spent after all the vertical meters the days before (And the wheather was not so good anyways. It would have simply ended one of those bad reviews - just kidding 😅).
Amazing video 😊😊
Meus parabéns belo vídeo 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
Amazing
Epic, Love it. Its on my bucket list.
Amazing!
It looks like heaven on earth. When I win the lottery, it will be one of the first destinations I visit. 😎
Been waiting for this.
Love it ❤
Move to Norway, than you cam pick your trips, when the weather suits you, that what I did😀
Awesome video and ride! Beautiful. When was this trip, May '24?
Late May 24
👍👍👍👍👍
I'm curious, does Norway have any forest trails or bridal ways/off road routes? The on road sections look magnificent, but I do like to feel dirt under my tyres... 😉
Norway has everything. You should check out www.cyclenorway.com for more info.
👍
Great to have you back. BUT how can I hire a bike and do these rides, I live 15,000km away. I wanted to do the ride to Voss, but its impossible to hire a bike.
Do you have any recommendations as I am keen, but not so keen on shipping my own bike across the world on various airlines.
Or is the a good way to buy a bike and sell it at the end of the trip. Thanks
Excellent stuff, Matt. I need to know this: What tune is playing in the end of this video? I tried to Shazam it but I only end up with wrong suggestions. Is it publically available or do I need to put up a subscription somewhere?
This is our time - Moonwater
