The Mint Syrup is a bar essential to use in so many cocktails, but you can use it in mocktails, soft drinks or why not with your tea. Is healthy and refreshing. Whos is up to try this?
It's called a spout on the French press. 😊🤌 Thanks for the video. I've got an interesting strain of mint. It has a grapefruit type of citrus bite to it. Very refreshing. I'm glad I potted it 😂 it's trying to send tendrils out to spread already and I only planted it 3 weeks ago. Why i had to find a way to process the leaves. I poured in ice cube trays and transferred into a zip lock bag to store in the deep freezer. I'll have mint flavor all year round now. I'll probably let the mint seed at the end of the growing season here in NJ for next year. I'll also be looking for new strains to try at my local Nursery. Idk it even had this type of strain. Thought it was just spearmint or peppermint.
I finally remembered the name for it 😂 There are hundreds of mint strains and are amazing to use for almost anything. The only issue is that is spreading like crazy if you don't maintain and restrict it. Keep up and if you can find a chocolate mint or apple mint they are amazing.
I suggest to use it in a month and keep it in the refrigerator. Also, if you add 10ml vodka to the mix, it will save it even longer. Again, I suggest to use it in a month.
Using the French Press is a good idea. I would not have thought of it. (I think the word you were looking for when pouring from the coffee press was "spout")
K Dixon, thank you. I use the French press for many syrups and infusions. Very convenient with the excellent filter inside. Thank you for the ’spout.’ can't believe I never knew the name haha 😂
Thank you. I won’t use the steam of mint because it’s not much flavours in it. Preferably use only the leaves 🍃👍 because the stem doesn’t have much oil and could bring bitter or earthy taste
@@JSOS That's good to know, and thanks for the reply :D I just trimmed some mint and had some stems, and don't want to throw them out, but am not sure what to do with them
You can use them in food. Grind them and dry them for a spice or shop them fine and use in veg stock or sauces. If you want to use them in the syrup I will suggest to boil them separate, taste the flavour and if it’s not bitter mix the water with your syrup 👍
Yes, you can add extra mint. Is up to you how strong you wanted. You can even blend everything and strain with cheesecloth to extract more from the mint.
@Sony the Sleepy Guy, if you balance the mint in boiling water for 15 seconds, you can blend it with water and add a small amount of sugar to find the right balance. This way, you can control the sweetness. Don't forget to fine strain with cheese cloth or coffee filter 👍
My garden mint has very thick leaves and is heavier than the usual you buy from the shop as it grows wild outside. I don't remember now, but I am sure I measure it before using it, and it is at least 100 - 150 grams. I may have a typo mistake there, but for sure, at least 150 grams you need for a reach syrup.
I am still using the same bottle. I suggest to use it in a month or month and a half. However, the is only simple syrup infused with mint so it could stay for a few months in the fridge without any problem.

Very easy! I wanted to make a cocktail for the weekend and I love how this video's straightforward
Thank you so much. Glad you enjoy it
Thanks for the recipe! I would call the pouring beak a spout.
You are welcome. I will remember the spout forever. I can't believe I didn't know that.
Your videos are awesome !. really helped me make some mint syrup for my coffee drink :D , thanks a lot
Thank you so much 😊 I am glad you enjoy and find them informative. Thanks for watching. It means a lot to me 👍
fresh mint... nice
The best! Old video but the mint is always in my garden so I had to share it again.

Clear explanation.. Thank you... :) gonna practice it soon..
Thank you. It is perfect syrup, or use it as a sweet extra to a tea. Lovely.
How long can the syrup be stored?
I suggest to use it in a month and keep it in the refrigerator. Also, if you add 10ml vodka to the mix, it will save it even longer. Again, I suggest to use it in a month.
Its very awesome vidio
Thank you so much 😀
Good video! I think I'd use this syrup often, and I have my own mint as well so I should make it.
Maestro S.G. Go for it. It's so easy you can use it for many things. Also, you can add ginger for a bit of spice 😉

Using a french press to strain the mint is brilliant!
Also, could syrup be made from the stem of the mint?
Thank you. I won’t use the steam of mint because it’s not much flavours in it. Preferably use only the leaves 🍃👍 because the stem doesn’t have much oil and could bring bitter or earthy taste

Just throw out the stems. You've gotten the best from the plant in the leaves are the leaves have the oils. The stem if you bite into it is bitter.
Can I add more mint Leaves for stronger mint flavor?
Yes, you can add extra mint. Is up to you how strong you wanted. You can even blend everything and strain with cheesecloth to extract more from the mint.
@@JSOS thank you! I have made this before but the sugar flavor is absolutely dominating😅

@@JSOS thank you for the tip! Guess I don’t need to buy mint syrup no more😊
No. Make the amount you need and keep making 😉
What kind of mint leaves did you use here, sir?
Just a normal regular mint. I have ordered from the grocery store and planted them in my garden. You can use any mint available to you.
@@JSOS thank you. Have a great day.
It’s called a spout :)
Thank you 👍
are you sure you have 150 - 250 gr fresh mint there? Sounds like a lot of leaves, or maybe your leaves are more moist..

Yep. Will remember it forever 👍🏼
Nice tutorial. and sterilizing the bottle is so true, your syrup will last longer.
Yes it does! Every little helps when comes to preserving. Usually, I pour 10ml of vodka inside to make it last longer.
I picked almost a 50cm³ box of leaves and its only 50grams
I know. My measuring here is way off 😂 so sorry about it
@@JSOS its ok but how many should i use now?
@kozel laslo 50 grams is more than enough to make a good reach mint sirup 👍
I think they call the pouring beak a "nozzle".
Cheers 👍
Spout
Cheers 👍
