    Yes!!! I Agree 100%
Honestly, I never really got into buying the newest fashion (makeup) or w/e, I have my $tree eye liner and mascara ha ha. I am loooking at things that will help make my life better/easier, like adding a shelf to have more room on the counter, or buying a decent snow shovel, it's just the simplest things that make me happy.
    Simple living.

girl i'm not even kidding I need someone like you in my life to influence me. I would definitely want to be your friend because "you become like those around you" and your mindset is very admirable and I respect it.

I’m about to move into a new apartment (college grad). Suddenly being more aware of my expenses is making me explore how to cut corners in things that I can without sacrificing what brings me joy. I’ve been doing lots of research on reusable cleaning supplies, found an apartment with tons of natural light to cut back on electricity costs, and turned down the idea of getting a TV for couple years. I’m really trying to cement the idea of long-term wellness for myself.

I'm not a minimalistic person but I do love the idea. I'm not a hoarder but I do have a lot of pictures, knick knacks, and things I definitely don't need. I definitely think this is a call to action video telling me to start getting rid of a few things that I don't need!

Agreed, I already tend to live a minimalist lifestyle. Though you have given me further food for thought. I am currently doing research for a project and after watching this video I just realized that the amount of things I need to research can be pined down to a good extent. Reducing the amount of stress in that area of my life.

I reduced down to a camper trailer amount of things this last year. I got rid of everything I didn't use over the last year...this took a while, but I really enjoyed it! Now I only buy art or things to make my art and this is how I choose to live minimaliste. I have spent several years in a single room or small trailer and so I have become used to keeping only what I use or enjoy looking at.

I'll admit, I was apphrensive about this video, I'm so used to people talking about minimilism in a "throw out all your stuff none if it really matters, gotta have an empty room to be happy" sort of way (okay, i'll admit it's mostly my aunts and cousins but anyways). But I really resonated with this! Thank you so much for the video!!

Great story on how minimalism has benefited your life. It is so difficult for the average person since the US society’s economic engine is built on consumerism. This creates a vicious cycle where the individual is inundated every day from every medium to consume and trade their precious life/time for things. And often it is things we do not need. But like you said it’s just impulse purchases. Unfortunately we spend most of our life accumulating stuff, and rarely is there someone to help us to know when and how to let it go.

I already own very little clutter, because I moved house like 5 times in the past 4 years. That really taught me to throw things I don't need away, hahaha. That said, I do still impulse buy stuff sometimes. I guess I don't feel as though I have 'enough'. It's definitely food for thought, thank you!

My gateway into minimalist philosophy was Digital Minimalism by Cal Newport. Need to actively declutter in my home. Thanks for this!

I totally get that, I already own nearly nothing and rather like having the empty space than a room full of crap.

    I needed this!!
I have come to the point of "Holy crap! Where did all this stuff come from?" We are slowly decluttering but it's become overwhelming. Eventually we will get there.

You gave me an idea.. I love things. But sometimes I can't use whatever I buy. I wanted to try it before, like ppl in Japan, minimal, peaceful lifestyle, without any unnecessary anger, thoughts, etc. And now you speaking about it's good points. Love your voice, and everything you all do, so I will give a try to upgrade my life to peace level. Thank You, Ariel :)

The first time I invited a friend over to my apartment she started crying. I asked her why she was crying. She said it was because I had so little of things and seemed pretty content in having a weeks worth of clothes when she has stuff in her closet and garage she hasn't touched or seen in years. She has a house full of nice things and I have mismatched furniture. I told her that I dont need a whole lot and what I have works. If I want my furniture to match I can always make a cover or tear it apart and remake it. Knowing how to mend and repair things is one of the best bits of knowledge my family has been given. Anyway, I'm rambling.

Ahhhh I miss the REL Show so much, glad it is back for a limited time. Love this topic. I have been on the minimalism journey for several years, I find it to be an ongoing thing that needs tended too. Did the new Netflix doc The Minimalists: Less Is Now inspire this video? I'm currently in the middle of their 30 day challenge, it is a nice January refresh.

Read about Minimalism b4, like the concept, tried it on a few things (unsuccessfully lol)...still must admit I feel in general better (less frustrated, and rushed) when there isn't a massive amount clutter. Now w/ the DIY and upcycling I'm totally on board (just started trying out diy no sew clothing LOVING IT)

I love this! I’ve been trying to live more intentionally not have so much “stuff” around mentally and physically. It’s hard work though. There are some good resources out there. I especially like Ashlynne Eaton’s approach on the subject. She has a great RUclips channel.

This is a cool way to look at things. I am definitely an unmindful consumer (clothes, books, technology) though I do enjoy my slightly cluttered shelves. [You said there's nothing wrong with empty shelves & my brain shut down for a sec lol.] But I do have enough. And I definitely want to start trying to frame buying/shopping in this perspective. Thanks for sharing!!!

Also, I'm in the description box rn and excited for the new Icon for Hire album! I was actually introduced to your music a week ago. "Iodine" came on some random channel, and now I'm working on learning every song in the discography

    • @whitevine9544
      @whitevine9544 3 года назад

I think minimalism is what you make it. Like if you're a cook and use a lot different cooking utensils, but then when it comes to shoes you have three pairs because you need a dress pair, running shoes and boots and that's your idea minimalism than that's fine. I happen to love variety, so some things I really need variety on, but probably not so much on other things. And then some things it's hard to find something that works for me, so I get what works and live with it until I need to replace it after wear and tear.

minimalism is the most daft tone deaf thing ever. It's the secular version of religious people telling people who can't afford food to fast to get closer to there faith.
