My Grandfather had a 1949 F5, on the farm. Strong little truck. He'd stack full fruit crates and /or straw and hay, 12 ft high, until the rear springd were flat.

I was driving a grey 50 FORD F6 and a blue 56 FORD COE Cabover tandem on the farm when I was 11 on the farm. Of course, the 48-50 F(x)s was and will always be favorite trucks.

Hey does this still have the "widow maker" rims on it? If so, how are you dealing with that? I have a buddy that has an mid 40's F series and nobody will touch it. Seems everyone got rid of their "cages" and safety gear a long time ago.... Do you know of any vintage service/replacement option for them? Obviously it needs to be as original as possible, but split rims seem to be impossible now. Thoughts?

I had to buy new solid rims for them. Had the same issue with tire shops. Took about 8 months to get them because they were special order. The replacements are 22.5", up from 20". They only have one knockout for the valve stem so definitely no as pretty, but looks pretty cool with the big tires. The company I ordered from is called Wheels Now

Bitchen truck👍. FYI flatheads run much cooler with thermostats they really do well with thermostats and a good cap to keep pressure I drove a 46 every day back and forth to work for a few years. The best thing you can do is flush out the water jacket in block flathead fords are Notorious!!’ For being full of casting sand, fast forward 70 years and I guarantee that engine is half full of rust. I pulled out enough rust and casting sand to fill a 5 gallon bucket halfway 😮 out of my 1934 21 stud v8 and it was a running Motor at the time
