As a bonus, the Brotherhood were wearing T-60 armor that is just upgraded T-45 (plus judging by its timeline of its deployment, mostly riot control and anti insurgency that would have limited access to AP rounds).
Yeah I think the T-60's were the lesser armor set aside for the National Guard, so they would be more abundant than the superior T-51's, as most of those would have been shipped to China and Canada where the army was operating at the time of the great war.
The t51 is the pinnacle of prewar power armor many times stated in every single games lore. Composite and sloped seamless armor instead of metal alloy or steel rivets bolts and wrlds. And you can even tell diferences between Cooper and The Ghoul - Cooper had to act "normal" around people because he was a Hollywood star, but he always dreamt to be a cowboy. After the great war, in some sense, his dream was fullfiled - and he one hundred percent acts like one. He even talks diferently according to the "character".
Also if you watch in episode two he was loaded for soft targets with exploding rounds, but in this scene he is seen load ap rounds probably sabot rounds.
In a scene set in a helicopter, Maximus commends Titus for upgrading his T-45 armor, noting it was a wise decision. Titus had indeed swapped out his armor plate for a superior one, ensuring his readiness for the challenges ahead. So he was prepared for the fight with ghoul
In terms of lore the T51 was a much better improvement on the T45. It allowed the US to push China out of Alaska and also allowed them to make significant gains in their invasion of mainland China. The T60 was created for riot control and was basically just the T45 with improved armor.

To my knowledge, the T-51 was built from the ground up, learning from the lessons of the T-45. Versus the T-60 just taking the T-45 base and improving.
The T51 is far better in general protection, but it was a lot more expensive, and far harder to repair, making its production much more limited. Meanwhile, the T60, while being upgraded from the T45, had an unexpected benefit to it, besides being cheaper. The armor ended up being a lot more resilient to energy weapons (lasers, plasma, flamers), which there was a real shift in infantry weaponry from ballistic to energy before the bombs dropped. So you would either have an expensive, harder to repair suit that was excellent against ballistic, or a cheaper, easier to repair that was better against energy. Lowest bidder tends to win. Still had those flaws though.
What would that mean for the varient models and experimental models? Stuff like the hellfire, x-02, x-01, or secret service power armour? Would some of those be improvements on the T-60, T-51, or be entirely new experimental models designed to serve the interests of their specific organisations?

The look on Maximus's face when he watched a knight drop to a single precision shot like 'I fought this guy and he could have killed me at any time. I'm literally only alive because he was playing with me'. Granted, it would've taken a moment to reload to do it, but there were a couple of points in the fight where Coop could have popped in at least one armor-piercing round and lined up a kill shot.

The Ghoul in Philly seemed to have some kind of explosive ammo, all of his shots just blew MASSIVE holes in people but didn't dent the T-60 in the slightest, probably because he wasn't expecting anyone in Power Armor to show up. To top it off, he could of killed Max a dozen times, and easily disables the armor whenever his foot gets stuck. He could tell from the moment he started fighting Max that even with that armor he wasn't a threat, he was toying with him. "You drive that thing like a damn shopping cart."
The thing that gets me about this scene is Maximus’s reaction; his whole life he’s seen the power armour as this unstoppable force and Cooper just takes it down in one well placed shot, his entire reality has been shattered.

They probably just aren't operating openly after the defeats on the East and West coasts with Raven Rock/Adams Air Force Base and the Oil Rig/Navarro respectively. I assume there are still based operating around the country but doing so in secret just like the East and West Enclave had before revealing themselves.

watch the scene again, you can clearly see his loading some special ammunition before he shoots. the first fight was out of nowhere so he wasn't really as prepared.
And Askins had the ignorance to not even notice Cooper was reprimanding him on such a terrible flaw. This show was so damn good. Not sure of it was intentional writing but the flaw below the chest plate just happens to be where the superior and inferior Vena Cava are (the main arteries that bring blood back and forth between the heart) I.E instantaneous death.
If I’m looking at where ghoul shot him correctly, you are wrong. The vena cava is above the xiphoid process, not below it. And ghoul clearly shoots below it…. Which would, if anything, but the bullet just barely into the liver. I don’t think you actually know anatomy, I think you just wanted to sound smart.

You know what I'll give you points for being on the right track. The Inferior Vena Cava is in that general region and does carry blood back to the heart but it's the aorta that's the artery that takes blood away from the heart. The Vena Cava is a vein and only goes too the heart while the arteries take the blood away. The aorta is also the largest artery in the body and when ruptured, like you said, instant death. Blood in the arteries is under unfathomably high pressure and will spurt like a hose when ruptured

I find it funny he doesn’t do this when he first fights someone in power armor, but that the Knights who literally are killing everyone on sight stop and listen to a ghoul.
Considering their experience with Fallout main characters previously they probably are smart enough to recognize one and show the appropriate respect. The Vault Dweller, the Chosen One, the Warrior, the Lone Wanderer, the Courier, and the Sole Survivor not to mention all the invincible drugged up nuke slinging psychos from 76 have all had encounters with the Brotherhood.
Power Armor is always going to pale beside the power of Plot Armor. Everyone just standing there letting him talk and reload instead of just shooting him.
To be fair though coopers gun was loaded with explosive rounds so the bullet would have went straight through the armour and bloody mess the operator inside
Yeah… but the employing of a armour piercing explosive round likely meant that the shot would penetrate properly and kill the person inside the armour rather than potentially having most of the force blunted by the armour plate. The flaw in the welding was likely exploited by Chinese dragons and troops armed with armour piercing weapons to kill a lot more solders in their early t-45 power armour. Something further exploited by the Chinese using other anti power armour weapons and pulse devices. When the 52s hit the battlefield against the Chinese, most of the ballistic weakness was nullified, meaning only pulse tech and focused attacks to vulnerable apertures like the lenses and joints like the neck would work. Laser weapons were also a potential vulnerability, but by then, newer models of armour were being deployed domestically which were better at dealing with energy threats. And likely a combination of modified 52 and 60 would have served a potent power armour strike force against Chinese ordinance… save the obvious nuclear option.

By the look of it, the bullet hits the rubbery part below the main part of the chest plate, given that this part is shown on the frame in 4/76, I think it’s safe to assume it’s the frame that has the flaw not the armour. Basically I’m saying every single suit of Power Armour, apart from all the armours in the ‘Advanced’ series which covers it with metal plates (minus X-01), has this flaw.
It’s a hammer he was holding the trigger then the flip up happened during setting of the hammer firing the round. Look up revolver fanning that’s something similar, unless that specific gun works differently.
If they end up facing the enclave Cooper is really gonna question what the hell power armor they are wearing, And maybe realize the bullet trick doesn't really work anymore. Or at all really.
I think it’s really interesting because despite T-45’s early deployment it wasn’t noted as a game changer in lore. It was still the T-51b that turned the tide of the Alaskan Front. Cooper’s remarks that they had serious design flaws proves that early power armor could still be effectively countered by China.
Gyrojet type round, aka a mini jet powered AP explosive round. Rather exotic ammunition but absolutely lethal to those placing too much faith in their walking bipedal tank suits.
I often feel like bethesda doesn't remember the t-51b exist. It's the west coast brotherhood we're talking about in this show. They had plenty of t51 suits.
I think they wanted to make the show more relevant to younger and newer fans. The Brotherhood is lifted straight out of Fallout 4 along with the Prydwen and their T60 power armour. Hopefully with the success of this season they might have the courage to stick to New Vegas lore a bit more closely in the next season.

What you’re thinking of is the Obsidian games and their quality. See they actually try to keep their story on track and respect the canon they make. They actually tried to tell new stories with every entry and pushed things forward with every game so that society began to recover beyond just bandits in ruins. They had a plan to have the story setting change with time until life returned to a semi normal way with governments, advanced tech being mass produced and infrastructure returning. Why? Because Obsidian wanted to tell a story. Bethesda just wants to sell a product and will keep the status quo to keep selling the product to idiot consumers who just want to keep playing wasteland survivor in the exact same setting with absolutely no changes regardless of it that even makes sense in a setting where people exist that can still build and maintain mechs, power armor, energy weapons and where mass communication still exists.

Tempered steel used as armor or whatever is heated and cooled meticulously so the steel would be harder and denser a weld involves super heating steel to make an area of softer metal glue to put two pieces together. Wielding messes up the temperedness of the steel.

Judging by the size I guess it was either a 25mm-30mm APFSDS use on the Bushmaster autocannons to give it more punch against newer vehicles.

Enclave power armour is APA-01 rather than X-01, and it's even more protective. It's an easy misconception because they look so damn similar.

I'm not sure. The guy said he fought in alaska and the bethesda writer recently said nate was busy doing warcrimes in canada during the war.
tbh it was 10 years long war. I think Coop was honorable discharged by the time Nate served in the army.
@@mtsen771 They don't really mention his rank in the Army but I think Nate was a officer. And Cooper was a Marine not in the Army. The scene when he was talking to his daughter before the bombs fell he told her he was in the Marines.
We may never find out if he met Nate, but what we do know is that Cooper starred in a movie with Vera Keys.

watch the scene again, you can clearly see his loading some special ammunition before he shoots. the first fight was out of nowhere so he wasn't really as prepared.

This show was so damn good. It’s so rare that live action media connects with the games they portray so well. I know there’s a couple of lore issues but I can suspend my disbelief when a show is acted and written so good.
Not sure of it was intentional writing but the flaw below the chest plate just happens to be where the superior and inferior Vena Cava are (the main arteries that bring blood back and forth between the heart)
I.E instantaneous death.
If I’m looking at where ghoul shot him correctly, you are wrong. The vena cava is above the xiphoid process, not below it. And ghoul clearly shoots below it…. Which would, if anything, but the bullet just barely into the liver.

@@mr.doctorcaptain1124 ok professor maybe I might be getting the arteries wrong (which can be hard trying to deduce from a few seconds of frame and body armor) but you can’t ignore the glaring fact that wherever gouly landed clearly hit a juicy artery (from the obvious fountain of blood you see immediately after) which I’m pretty sure a ruptured liver won’t cause. That being said you don’t have to be a dick about it.
You know what I'll give you points for being on the right track. The Inferior Vena Cava is in that general region and does carry blood back to the heart but it's the aorta that's the artery that takes blood away from the heart. The Vena Cava is a vein and only goes too the heart while the arteries take the blood away. The aorta is also the largest artery in the body and when ruptured, like you said, instant death. Blood in the arteries is under unfathomably high pressure and will spurt like a hose when ruptured

I find it funny he doesn’t do this when he first fights someone in power armor, but that the Knights who literally are killing everyone on sight stop and listen to a ghoul.
Considering their experience with Fallout main characters previously they probably are smart enough to recognize one and show the appropriate respect. The Vault Dweller, the Chosen One, the Warrior, the Lone Wanderer, the Courier, and the Sole Survivor not to mention all the invincible drugged up nuke slinging psychos from 76 have all had encounters with the Brotherhood.

To be fair though coopers gun was loaded with explosive rounds so the bullet would have went straight through the armour and bloody mess the operator inside
Yeah… but the employing of a armour piercing explosive round likely meant that the shot would penetrate properly and kill the person inside the armour rather than potentially having most of the force blunted by the armour plate. The flaw in the welding was likely exploited by Chinese dragons and troops armed with armour piercing weapons to kill a lot more solders in their early t-45 power armour. Something further exploited by the Chinese using other anti power armour weapons and pulse devices. When the 52s hit the battlefield against the Chinese, most of the ballistic weakness was nullified, meaning only pulse tech and focused attacks to vulnerable apertures like the lenses and joints like the neck would work. Laser weapons were also a potential vulnerability, but by then, newer models of armour were being deployed domestically which were better at dealing with energy threats. And likely a combination of modified 52 and 60 would have served a potent power armour strike force against Chinese ordinance… save the obvious nuclear option.

That's why Hank is so comfortable in the suit at the end. He was probably with Bud at West-Tec during its development before moving to Vault-Tec - either that or Bud allowed him to come along and try it out regularly.
Coop "The Ghoul" Howard was absolutely the best character in season 1.
By the look of it, the bullet hits the rubbery part below the main part of the chest plate, given that this part is shown on the frame in 4/76, I think it’s safe to assume it’s the frame that has the flaw not the armour.
Basically I’m saying every single suit of Power Armour, apart from all the armours in the ‘Advanced’ series which covers it with metal plates (minus X-01), has this flaw.
If Cooper knew about that weakness then he must have given Maximus a break

As someone who has never sided with the Brotherhood in Fallout 4, the other weakness is high explosives and armor piercing rounds.

It’s a hammer he was holding the trigger then the flip up happened during setting of the hammer firing the round.
Look up revolver fanning that’s something similar, unless that specific gun works differently.

My theory is the shot overloads the mechanism that causes the suit to clamp around the user. Causing it to crush the person inside like a capri sun.
If they end up facing the enclave Cooper is really gonna question what the hell power armor they are wearing, And maybe realize the bullet trick doesn't really work anymore. Or at all really.
I think it’s really interesting because despite T-45’s early deployment it wasn’t noted as a game changer in lore. It was still the T-51b that turned the tide of the Alaskan Front.
Cooper’s remarks that they had serious design flaws proves that early power armor could still be effectively countered by China.

Gyrojet type round, aka a mini jet powered AP explosive round. Rather exotic ammunition but absolutely lethal to those placing too much faith in their walking bipedal tank suits.

I often feel like bethesda doesn't remember the t-51b exist. It's the west coast brotherhood we're talking about in this show. They had plenty of t51 suits.
Considering how strangely numerous the brotherhood seem now, perhaps they're handing out the old ones due to lack of stock.
I think they wanted to make the show more relevant to younger and newer fans. The Brotherhood is lifted straight out of Fallout 4 along with the Prydwen and their T60 power armour. Hopefully with the success of this season they might have the courage to stick to New Vegas lore a bit more closely in the next season.

Dude Bethesda and Todd Howard didn’t give a shit. They didn’t even remember the west coast chapters training techniques or the fact that they wield energy weapons exclusively.
What you’re thinking of is the Obsidian games and their quality. See they actually try to keep their story on track and respect the canon they make. They actually tried to tell new stories with every entry and pushed things forward with every game so that society began to recover beyond just bandits in ruins. They had a plan to have the story setting change with time until life returned to a semi normal way with governments, advanced tech being mass produced and infrastructure returning. Why? Because Obsidian wanted to tell a story. Bethesda just wants to sell a product and will keep the status quo to keep selling the product to idiot consumers who just want to keep playing wasteland survivor in the exact same setting with absolutely no changes regardless of it that even makes sense in a setting where people exist that can still build and maintain mechs, power armor, energy weapons and where mass communication still exists.
People sure did cry a lot about the "design flaw"

How does a welding flaw even lead to this weakpoint? Someone explain the mechanics to me.
Tempered steel used as armor or whatever is heated and cooled meticulously so the steel would be harder and denser a weld involves super heating steel to make an area of softer metal glue to put two pieces together. Wielding messes up the temperedness of the steel.

@@MansMan42069 it’s just a weld, I didn’t say it was a bad weld. If a fork to a forklift breaks you have to order a new fork replacement you can’t weld the broken bit back on because it’s tempered.

To be fair, it was an armor-piercing round hitting a vulnerability in the armor, so it makes sense. But yeah, you got a point.
It's an actual Lore friendly explanation and depiction that they can show in a, well, show that you couldn't in game for balancing reasons. The 45 was know to have flaws that the 51 fixed. The 60 was a revamped 45 because the 51s were expensive. I see no issue here.

I'm not 100% sure about other armors, but Maximus/Titus' T60 was a modified one, both Max and Lucy noticed it upon seeing it
