I feel like "normal guy" should include the ability to use a bow (a regular, wooden bow, not some crazy daedric artifact) to hunt animals (and "loot" their meat and leather). That's a pretty normal thing in the setting.
Yea but not ethical because all the hunters are poachers. In the setting you can’t hunt without a permit, the hunters even comment on it with “I’m not doing anything wrong by poaching, the jarl can’t eat all this meat what will he know” and there’s a random encounter with a hunter camp with a dead deer they tell you to take what you want off the deer, as there’s enough for all of you so long as you keep it too yourself

18:05 It's not just in your head! Some of the items vendors sell are actual, physical items in the world nearby. If you purchase them, they won't reappear in the vendor's inventory until the cell resets (usually 10 days since your last visit). That means if you just wait 48 hours at one vendor, you'll only get the items that respawn in their chest inventory. Alchemists have a pretty significant number of ingredients on display, so it's especially noticeable with them.

There is actually a Steam guide to smithing for profit. As you learned, it's not possible to buy materials and sell finished goods at a net profit early on due to the high ratio between buying and selling prices (initially nearly a ratio of 10). Instead, the guide recommends getting your own pelts and iron ore. If playing as a non-hunter, it's possible to buy hides (I recommend cow hide, it's the cheapest per-leather option) while doing honest work mining iron around Skyrim. You can mine iron in Left Hand Mine outside Markarth, Stonehills, Dawnstar, Whistling Mine south of Winterhold, and Shor's Stone (only with Unofficial Patch). Alternatively (if followers/pets to handle combat on the road is Unethical, or if taking ore from the owned mines for personal use is Unethical), chop firewood and pay for Smithing training, I guess. Eventually, your Speech and Smithing will be high enough to start buying materials and selling armor for profit. Or as a final alternative, there are still a few iron ore veins accessible in non-combat areas around the carriage cities.

Following Hadvar into the barracks he essentially orders you to take what you need from the chests so it shouldn't be considered looting. You can get the key that way and run past the Stormcloaks to get through the locked gate before they can react. I have a strategy to get the transmute spell tome without any combat, though I haven't tried it yet. Get a bow and a supply of arrows. drop down into the pit that gives you a way in through the backdoor to Halted Stream Camp. Remaining hidden in the tunnel start shooting arrows at the walls opposite to attract the attention of everyone in the room to where the arrow struck. Once everyone is investigating the noise shoot more arrows to lead them over to and up the ramp and into the upper tunnel. Once they are all in the tunnel run over and grab the tome and run back to the pit. You can fast travel from the pit. (I bet you wish you knew that before.) Sven at Halted Stream Camp: You can order followers to attack enemies, you don't have to wait for them to attack. Speech past 90: Skill books can take you 5 more levels. Giving Ysolda a Mammoth's tusk gets you another one. Two more can be earned by jumping of the Bard's Leap Summit at Lost Valley Redoubt, Invisibility and Muffle will help you get past all the enemies to the jumping off point. You have to sprint as you jump to succeed. There are some other ways to earn levels like this but they break the rules of the run. (Looting quests and stealing.)
Invest in gear that lowers cost of illusion and alteration spells. Learn a spell that pacifies enemies. Run in to Halted Stream Camp, pacify all the bandits, grab the Transmute Ore spell book, run out of there. Learn Transmute Ore, then go in any Iron Ore mine and mine all the Iron ore you possibly can, then use transmute ore to turn those iron ore in to gold ore. Make Gold Ingots, create jewelry, with the jewels you get from mining. Sell ??? profit! Man I should have watched further. lol
@@GreasyOaf I mean, there's a difference between fighting back in self defense, and just fighting in general. But also, I wasn't talking about in the game, but in the world the game is meant to represent. There would certainly be some Nord civilians who wouldn't fight back, and would run or hide instead because they don't have the ability to fight back effectively. And yes, I get that in this video he didn't fight back, but that's because it's a game, and fighting back is way too easy and super unrealistic, so making the rule to not fight at all was meant to help simulate the abilities of a regular citizen. You could even argue that him just being able to take damage and heal simulates a regular citizen fighting, since irl with those kinds of blows you'd be dead in an instant.
Alchemy in Skyrim is the equivalent of printing your own money. It is way more profitable than adventuring...except that you can get a lot of potion ingredients by adventuring.
When you are cutting firewood, after the last hit when youre character is about to put away the axe slightly move backwards to repeat the animation and you don‘t have to interact again
I would argue ridding the land of bandits, sanctioned by the jarl of falkreath, would fall under the purview of "normal" citizen. Citizens were conscripted plenty of times in medieval societies.
Ive always felt the Purify perk from Alchemy is a misstep, since having more effects makes a potion worth more. Ive never tested if the perk actually reduces value though
Brand-Shei was the one that got sent to prison as you had to steal Madesi's ring under his stall in his strongbox in order to frame Brand-Shei with the Chance arrangement quest.
You can actually cut your own lumber for your house without paying. But it's kinda bugged so you need to ask permission from the lumber mill worker after each cut.
I've never had to talk to the worker again after each cut. Maybe it depends on where you do it? I normally befriend Hod in Riverwood by selling him a bit of firewood, then just use that mill, never had an issue, unless you count sometimes having difficulty finding Hod.
4:26 you committed crime by disobeying hadvars order to follow him into the keep and then you ran away with a known "traitor" (only speaking in terms of the law of skyrim. Death to the empire)

"if only i could have hired a mercenary." You COULD have, there's the one in the building on a raised section just at the entrance of whiterun
yea and that has a shop too
The spike pitw as actualy an alternate entrance to what you were looking for lmao
Not worth it. The spikes have no idea what immunity frames are.
Skyrim has become the largest exporter of potions of paralysis, other provinces are dumbfounded
(I bet you wish you knew that before.)
Sven at Halted Stream Camp: You can order followers to attack enemies, you don't have to wait for them to attack.
Sell ??? profit!
Man I should have watched further. lol
I love how you used the word “pacify” made me actually laugh out loud.LMAOOOOO. Thank you for stopping by :)
The jump from literally the most epic bg3 soundtrack to like the most chill persona soundtrack is hilarious 😂
I wish I could live in Skyrim, besides all the illnesses, vampires, werewolves, dragons, rabbit animals, bandit problems, life seems pretty sweet.
And a person calling themselves the Dragonborn sneaking into your house and stealing stuff once in a while.
a nord that doesn't fight? immersion shattering
A nord that has found peace and has no enemies
I mean, in reality it would be immersion shattering if literally every nord fights people. Like, this is supposed to be an entire country of people.
@@peterlewis2178 find me one nord in skyrim that doesn't fight back when you punch him, I'll be waiting
@@peterlewis2178 🤓 checkmate liberal
Alchemy in Skyrim is the equivalent of printing your own money. It is way more profitable than adventuring...except that you can get a lot of potion ingredients by adventuring.
13:49 Me loling out loud because that's the second entrance into Halted Stream Camp, with the Transmute tome like 30 yards away from it.
When you are cutting firewood, after the last hit when youre character is about to put away the axe slightly move backwards to repeat the animation and you don‘t have to interact again
Could’ve saved me an hour of firewood chopping lol
I would argue ridding the land of bandits, sanctioned by the jarl of falkreath, would fall under the purview of "normal" citizen. Citizens were conscripted plenty of times in medieval societies.
That’s a really cool fact to know :)
„We“ll be rizzing up these grannys for better prices“ got me 😂😂😂
Ive always felt the Purify perk from Alchemy is a misstep, since having more effects makes a potion worth more. Ive never tested if the perk actually reduces value though
Brand-Shei was the one that got sent to prison as you had to steal Madesi's ring under his stall in his strongbox in order to frame Brand-Shei with the Chance arrangement quest.
To be fair, I don't think you could even get Goldenhill Plantation, cuz you gotta kill ghosts to get it
That's not in Skyrim...
"you can't plant a Giant's toe"
Boy do I got a scary story for you (like actual 'scary story' it's in a book)
OH HELL NO.
You can actually cut your own lumber for your house without paying. But it's kinda bugged so you need to ask permission from the lumber mill worker after each cut.
@@johnprager662 they do need to have a positive opinion of you, but most get there by just selling them firewood.
If you had transmuted the iron ore to gold ore then made golden rings you would have been as good as gold
"Regular Citizen" *sprints into bandit camp to steal a spell book*
Skyrim if the protagonist was not the Dragonborn:
Loves this run! I was so suprised to see you only have a few thousand subscribers! the quality if this video is great! i quickly subscribed and can’t wait to see what you’ll post in the future!
Wow, thank you! You’re so kind :)
You completely missed the drunken huntsman!
"He's an ordinary citizen, so he definitely doesn't know how to use a weapon."
Me, watching a dragon get destroyed by the populace of Whiterun:
5:40 Sell wood to Saemills, and occasional inns/taverns, sell ores to different mines = how i made my 1st 10k in run # 369 and # 6969 😂
500 gold coins= plenty of hireable mercenaries around...
Alteration:
double cast (no dual cast perk) candlelight 3-4 times, then get apprentice perk and spam to lvl 100 while resting 1h for mp regen (unless 100% alteration cost gear or enough mp regen gear, i have 50% neck and 100% ring from merchands and only need to pause 1-2 sec per double cast on empty mana), save lvl up to insta refresh mana.
Location for this is just outside solitude, then aim just above mountaintop to the right
Illusion:
double cast muffle while walking around (again, aprentice and no dual casting perks) but takes a bit more to level it up then alteration
Also clairvoyance does nothing, i spent all mana several times with no lvl up on low lvls
Restoration:
people recomend spaming repel undead line, even if they are higher level it staggers them and also plays in avoid killing rp
Dont dual cast this becouse it can break the game (or save often if you do), recomended spell is repel undead line on group of undead becouse it has small aoe
Heal spells are way too slow
Conjuration:
When in combat go to place enemy cant reach you and spam bound weapons (cos summons auto attack enemy), takes a bit and its not really in no kill rp spirit
1:55 Considering how combat-ready everyone in Skyrim is, especially the children I think this rule makes the least sense
I think EVERYBODY simultaneously said, "Shut up, Nazeem" at the beginning there.
Narration of this video is on point, 38 minutes flew by fast. You nailed this type of skyrim vids 👍
Love the Baldur's Gate music in this video. So calming. Great video as well!
Thank you! You’re so kind :)
Dude really ground his speech skill up to 100 by giving free poison to merchants then continued selling things one at a time for the love of the game.
"No looting" That means the pay from the Companions and Dark Brotherhood radiant quests, got it
I like the Idea of a treasure hunter that has to sneak into dungeons withought killing anything and robbing all the chest.
Wow im Impressed by the editing and the storytelling. Normaly I dont watch Skyrim RUclipsrs others than ItsJabo and Joov, but for some reason i clicked at this video. And Im happy that I did. I will absolutely subscribe.
I love the absurdity and the masochism. Great video keep it up!
This is genuinely one of the best skyrim challenge videos i have ever watched nice vid
Thank you! That’s so kind :)
Normal civilian, levelling magic skills as soon as he's out of the cave.
Sinmir becomes the Captain of the Guard if the Stormcloaks take the city.
First ethical millionare: proceeds to give camilla a letter full of lies
After 19 hours of being a good citizen Brynjolf will still call you a crook.
One of Skyim's biggest challenges!
Fantastic video.
19:48 the white phial in windhelm is run by an old man
"Like everyone else in the world..."
As someone who has never played it, I feel called out.
"Accidentally" stole the sweeteoll? Nah, that man was a hungry peasant
LMFAOO leave him alone
29:28 for fast waiting you need to:
Set your slider to amount of hours you want to wait. Then you hold it with your left mouse button. Then press enter while still holding left mouse button. As soon as you hear the click sound that confirms your waiting drag your mouse towards 1 and you release left mouse button.
this is that manga where the MC decides to live a slow life by selling potions instead of being a dragon slayer
They can’t make me do it
was quite surprised OP commented on this comment only to notice that you're still a small creator, i finished watching the vid and thought you atleast have a 1 mil sub because of the quality of your content. keep it up man great content
The irony of living an honest life but activating the thieves stone is perfection.
for the final stretch to break 1 mil you shouldve chopped wood for that poetic ending
LOL definitely!
At 33:56 you said that the woman, and the guy have different inventory !
That is true, if you begin with the woman, anf after the guy, in the other order = same inventory for the 2 of them.
I once played skyrim in survival mode. I woke up, ate, drank, chopped wood, and slept.
I got so confused at 26:00 because I heard Down by the River from Balder's Gate 3 start to play. Funny enough, my boyfriend was playing Balder's Gate 3 when I heard it. I thought his headphones had disconnected.😂
Fun fact, that guy Sinmir isn't a follower, he becomes the captain of the Whiterun guard if you side with the Stormcloaks in the civil war and take over Whiterun.
Adding garlic to the potion of slow you made is my go to vendor pot, magika regen OP
I feel like hiring someone to kill bandits is still you killing bandits.
Anwser: No, a random dragon borne will enter your home and steal all of your savings
And take your wife too
Heartwarming! Convicted felon turns life around and becomes a first time homeowner with proceeds from a booming narcotics trade.

Holy hell this is an amazing video, audio quality and editing quality are top notch, how the hell do you only have 2.5k subs?? Definitely deserve wayy more. Good video my man!
You’re the best! Thank you :)
12:16 My brain starts screaming “Jenassa! Why don’t you go hire Jenassa!”
All the BG3 music leads me to conclude you must be making a bg3 video and I will be waiting patiently for it. Great video btw!
Um. Stewards can absolutely still be companions if you need them. Just that if you dismiss them, they'll go to your home instead of where they usually hang out.
Also my go-tos for moneymaking potions are the traditional game-start boost of salmon roe (roasting fish jumping up the Riverwood waterfall) and nordic barnacle cluster (various spots under Lake Ilinalta) and after that, scaly pholiota and creep cluster, or canis root and swamp fungal pod. Of course the latter is a super useful affect in combat (paralysis) so I don't tend to sell it much, hehe
@@tabbitee problem is I think Sven still has his AI visit his bae in Riverwood, so he's not gonna always be at the manor.
@@kylethomas9130 that could well be true, I've only ever had Lydia or Jenassa as a steward lol

as a modder, that feeling is indescribable, as it means it resets persistent actors and clears any scripts already running on that save file, making for accurate testing
it truly is a magical feeling
1.83k subs… too few… need more… You got this!!!
Honestly, even if you never post again..earned a sub, coolest fucking skyrim vid in like 12 years
Wow. That’s really high praise, thank you!
