BREAKFAST BARS RECIPE
(makes 12 bars - around 65g each)
Ingredients:
3 cups rolled oats (270g)
1 cup peanut butter (250g)
1/4 cup honey, agave or maple syrup (60ml)
1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce (65g)
1/4 cup lower-in sugar fruit jam (70g)
1/2 tsp salt
NUTRITIONAL INFO (per bar):
231 calories, fat 12.2g, carb 25g, protein 8.1g
Preparation:
First, toast your oats in dry skillet for 3-4 minutes.
In a bowl, mix the peanut butter, your liquid sweetener, applesauce and salt. It should be smooth, so if using solid peanut butter soften over heat for 2 minutes.
Pour the oats into the peanut butter mixture and gently mix with a spatula.
Stir in your favorite fruit jam (preferably homemade or lower in sugar) and mix everything until well combined.
Transfer the mixture into a lined baking pan (I use 8x8 inch or 20x20cm), press with a spatula or using an extra piece of parchment paper.
Place in the fridge to set, for at least 2 hours or even better overnight.
Remove from pan and cut into bars using a sharp knife.
Enjoy!
I make these but instead of honey I use a very very ripe banana and I smash it up first. This limits the sugar even more and it's much more affordable than honey is around my area. I then mix the smashed banana with peanut butter and also some coconut oil. You can add many other things as well as oats, such as walnuts, chia seeds, ground flax seed, coconut flakes, dried cranberries, cacao powder, the list goes on and on.
How long do the bars keep with a banana mashed into them? Do you store it in the fridge?
@@shomshomni2314 same question I have, Doesn't the banana spoil the bars in a matter of two days?
Sounds good, I like the honey since I use these as my preworkout snack early in the morning. I also eat a banana separate since I love bananas!
I don’t think a very very ripe banana will be that different from honey in sugar content
But yea it’s more cost effective
To borrow a little from Chef John: you are after all the GOAT of how to cook with an Oat!

Thanks a lot, sending back all the best wishes!
Just made these last night for hubby. They are wonderful! I’ve already been asked to make more. I didn’t have applesauce so I just microwaved an apple and added it in. Delicious! So glad I found your channel🙌
just made these...WOW. AMAZING FLAVOR AND TEXTURE!!!! 10/10!!!
Hi there, thanks so much for sending over your feedback!
Hi Sasha, after watching your channel I began to notice a pattern here, and it got stuck in my subconscious, I cook at a daycare center and I put oats into my pancake mix since the kids don’t seem to like regular oatmeal. They were a hit! Thanks for the inspiration, I’m gonna go find other things to put oatmeal into. Maybe ice cream. Maybe a pie. Maybe a pizza even. The work is full of possibilities. Have a good day!
Hi there Dmitriy! That's so great, so glad you like this idea of adding oats into different regular recipes to make them more nutritious. And yes, there's so much more possibilites out there. I appreciate all of your support!
Ah Sasha !! I made these and we absolutely loved them. We ate them all within 3 days. We ate them for breakfast. And lunch... and snacks... Thank you for yet another wonderful recipe. Bless you Sasha.

Wow...
I sometimes have breakfast bar, a greek yogurt and an apple for breakfast. Now I will make my own bar. Already make my own yogurt.
Thanks.
Sounds like a great plan, hope you'll enjoy these for breakfast. Making your own yogurt, amazing!

Always a fan of breakfast bars! Thank you Sasha!
Hi Vidya! So glad you like these!
@@HowToCookSmarter I went rogue , Sasha😱. Instead of oats I used khorasan wheat puffs. And made energy bites instead of bars. Will try with oats too, I promise!😀
@@vidyasampathkumar7113 No oats inside, well it happens to me sometimes too:) Yeah, love the idea of using some puffs too, will try to make some rice puff bars combined with oats too.
Once again you share with all of us an amazing idea !!! I’m fascinated by how many oat recipes you can come up with -all healthy, unique and delicious!!!

Absolutely fab...love that you cook as the yt channel name and keep it healthy
These are the perfect alternative to flapjacks ,tried them and they came out really yummy
What a great breakfast option! They look so quick and easy, a great way to get your oats in the morning. I'm one of those people that don't like a bowl of oatmeal, so I usually make oatmeal muffins. But this is on my agenda for a great alternative. I might sneak in some dark chocolate chips, but I've been with this channel long enough to know that it's okay to do that.😁 Thanks, Sasha! You always come through for us. (I wish with over 1300 views in the first hours more people would give this channel a "like." It helps out the channel, and Sasha deserves it for his creative ways to make our diets more healthy.) 👍💖😀😷
I’m gluten free these look delicious and no baking i use to love to bake before i found out i had celiac then discovered reading ingredients didnt seem right how much was real food and how much were chemicals
Thanks so much Lauren, I appreciate all of your kind words of support! Yes, these bars and also muffins is so much easier to have in the morning, and definitely I won't mind some chocolate inside too. Thanks again and all the best wishes!
Thank you so much for sharing I will try it it look delicious 😋

Hi dear Sasha, these bars look so delicious and healthy and I'll definitely make them this weekend. Your recipes made for a delightful 2021 and I plan on making more in 2022. Happy New Year to you and your family and we wish you the best! ❤️🌷
Hi there Zahra! That would be great, hope you'll enjoy these bars guys! Happy New Year and sending back all the best wishes to you guys! I appreciate all of your support!
This is literally the first bf bar recipe that doesn't have thousands of kcal n sugar in one bar. I really will need to try it.
It does come with some calories, because of peanut butter, definitely not low-calorie recipe, but so much better than any store-bought option.
Good idea. Thanks
Thanks Patricia!
Absolutely delicious 😋
Thanks for checking it out!
I love this. I will make it. Great tutorial too
Thanks, hope you'll enjoy the recipe!
Sounds great and I have everything already!
That's great, hope you already made yours.
It's great that this video popped up for me since I get bored of the regular for breakfast and lunch, I made these bars last night and just had it before I posted this. These bars are delicious, the thickness also made me full after eating one which is great. I appreciate the video plus I see there are many more from you with a bunch of other recipes so I'll be looking forward to trying these others out as well. I had to subscribe, I have a feeling I'll be eating even healthier in the near future... thanks again !
Love your ideas happy new year and I made them today and they are fantastic!!!!!!!!
Wow, thanks for trying these out and sending over your feedback!
sir!!!!!!good recipe thanks again Keep doing good job
Thanks so much Beena!
Love this kind of bars. I do them a lot. Thanks Sasha!!))
Hi there! Yes, it's great to have these on hand all the time. Thanks for your feedback!
Perfect and simple to make
Thanks for checking it out!
Wow so yummy , thanks a lot
You're very welcome!
I love the jam addition! Never thought of that. I usually add dried cranberries but the jam is a nice change!
I just can't help myself when it comes to peanut butter jelly combo, I just had to do that, dried fruits are also great.
I’ve been recently having a store bought granola bar every morning to get me to the afternoon and this looks delicious so it may become my replacement.
Yes, that would be a great move for you if succeed to replace store-bought with these. Go homemade!
Yea! first recipe for the new year! I can't wait to try these breakfast bars.
After couple of holiday recipes, I will be focused on healthy breakfast this month I guess, glad you like the recipe.
So simple and looks so delicious!! Need to give this a try 😋
Thanks for your feedback!
Will make it later today
Hope the recipe turned out delicious for you!
You have some of the healthiest recipes. Many I have modified to be vegan by exchanging one or two dairy ingredients such as flax seed or chia seed for egg. Immediately after watching this video I made these bars but added a tablespoon of organic ground flax seed, chia seeds, organic hulled hemp seeds, black cumin, and replacing 1/8 cup of peanut butter with almond butter and replacing the jelly with finely chopped/mashed dates. These freeze perfectly. They stay soft so they can be eaten right out of the freezer. I wrapped each bar separately in parchment paper and then placed into a snack-size Ziplock bag. My new favorite snack.
Thanks so much Mark for your wonderful feedback! You're doing a great job in your kitchen, so much great food you put in the game, that's a great way to improve this recipe and add even more nutrition, that's just awesome. Keep it up!
Hi sasha
Your channel is full of healthy breakfast recipes. THANKS FOR ALL THE RECIPES

Hi there! Thanks so much for your lovely feedback! Will try to come up with more lunch recipes.
Thank you for sharing this video I will definitely try these bars and I will subscribe to your channel I've been looking for such an easy way just to grab and go in the morning other than hassling with driving myself crazy with what I'm going to make for the day
Hi! Yeah, these are just great for starting your day right, with lots of energy and no stress at all. Hope you'll enjoy these bars!
Always great Oat recipes from you...my first granola attempt was a bit burnt but we enjoyed it either way. Definitely going to try these bars for my hungry growing boy. Thanks Sasha💕
Hi Chantal! Yes, that would be great, and there's no worries about burning these, hope you'll enjoy the bars guys! Take care!
Hi. Thank you for the recipe . Can I replace or dispense the fruit jam?!
Hi! Yes, you can just add a bit more honey.
Wow! 😍😋 Very delicious and healty! 😘🤗 for you, Sasha!
Hi there, thanks a lot! Sending back love!
I made these. Boy were they good! I added shredded coconut and chocolate chips 😋
Wow, love that, thanks for trying it out!
Hi sashaaaa.. That's what we need to start the morning after the holiday food Fiesta. It looks so yummy and great grab and go breakfast. Thank you always 👏😍
Hi Sylvia! That's exactly what I had on my mind, and something I need at this time of the year too, believe it or not I haven't been eating my oats during the holidays:) I appreciate your feedback!
Do you plan to write an e-book with all your recipes ? Or most of them....
I would buy it !
Yes, I do have a plan, hope I'll be able to finish it soon.
Healthy Oats Alternative Breakfast Bars,😋😋Happy New Year Sasha,🌤🌤🎊🎊🎉🎉
Yeah, such a great alternative. All the best wishes to you too!
The best breakfast bars! And what with a load of rolled oats (my favorite) to make them more filling. I would definitely make these! Thank you for sharing this recipe. Oh, one more thing: Can I use Skippy peanut butter for this or should I grind peanuts instead?
Thanks for your feedback! Yes, you can use Skippy pb also, it's just my preference to use all natural pb.
@@HowToCookSmarter I think it's better to just grind peanuts, then, because I love rustic and natural ingredients. Thank you, Chef ❤
@@WhatsCookingAtMomsKitchen Yes, definitely it is, but if Skippy is the only option just go with it.
Love love love this! 💜
Thanks!
Hey! I love all your recipes. They are delicious. I was wondering if you could find a healthy version of Monkey bread. I’ve been looking and most of them aren’t that healthy with refined sugar 😢. Thank you 🙌
Hey Ema! Yes, I could actually try to make the healthier version, love the idea, thanks for suggesting!
Hi
I like your recipes very much. I'm looking for the best recipe for healthy no-sugar bars for skis. It needs to be in role of lunch in your pocket. Form and consistency is also important because it shouldn't break or melt in your pocket during your activity. It should be also good to eat for about a week. Do you have any suggestions?
Have to do some research for making this lunch type of bar, but love the idea, I think it will be a great topic for some of my future videos.
Omg yeeeeeeeesssss. I neeeeeeeed to try these!
I love peanut butter and jam 🤤
Yeah, my favorite combo of all times, hope you'll enjoy the bars.
Hi... thanks for sharing this healthy recipe.
I just have one question... is the apple sauce home made or store bought. If it is home made .....can u share the recipe plss.
Hi, thanks! In this particular recipe I used store-bought applesauce, but I also do it on my own, just peel and dice some apples, pour couple of tbsp water and cook apples for 15-20 minutes, until tender, blend into puree and that's all.
Thank you so much ☺️
Wonderful recipe, thank you. Do you have a recipe for homemade apple sauce on your channel? God bless you.
Man deserves more subs
These look so good! Any ideas on what to use instead of peanut butter? (Partner isn't a fan of nuts or nutty flavours)
Thanks Ashlee! I guess coconut butter combined with some melted dark chocolate will work too.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Sasha! Stay safe and healthy. This is another awesome recipe. I cringe when I think about all those commercially processed bars I've eaten over the years 😳
Hi there Jody! Thanks so much for your kind words, and I wish you Happy New Year too! Yeah, it's funny how easy actually it is to make delicious sweet bars on your own. Take care my friend!
Thank you for absolutely amazing recipe I have made the bars
Quick question how long can you keep them in the fridge
Or can you keep them outside in a cupboard if tight container
🥰
Hi, thanks for trying these out! You can keep this in the fridge for 2 weeks I would say, they're just pefect out of the fridge.
Salamoalaikum thanks a lot sir sukran
How long will these last without refrigeration? I want to send e few to my grandsons who live in France. Thanks for our healthy recipes!!!!
I guess that will be fine to send over these, now during the winter time, the bars will be just fine.
Perfect
Thanks Mark!
Hey Sasha hope you're safe and great
Please can you make a video to homemade jam? Without sugar or reducing the amount of it
Hi there Pauline! Yes, love the suggestion, will be making this for sure. Take care!
Hey Sasha, great video and recipe! 🥰
Just one question: do I need to store them in the freezer (wrapped in parchment paper)? And if so, can I eat them right away or do they need to thaw up? 😳 I‘m kinda confused, but otherwise I‘d really like to give this recipe a try! 😍
Thanks Stefffanie! I just prefer to freeze them wrapped, I don't have to worry about sticking, and if you eat them out of freezer it's enough to wait for 5-10 mins.
Hello! I've been meaning to ask if you could please do a healthier version of rice crispy treats.
Amazing video as always!
Hi there! Love the idea of making these, will do some testing.
@@HowToCookSmarter Awesome! :D
You are AWESOME!!!!
Thanks Theresa!
E ovo pravim! Hvala!
Odlično, nadam se da su vam se svidjele.
So delicious! I can’t wait to try them! 😍 Do you think you’d ever consider trying a healthy blondie recipe or a healthy red velvet cake recipe?
Thanks Brittany! Yeah, I could give it a try with healthy blondie recipe too, I did have some attempt in making red velvet cake but didn't have success in creating that beautiful red color.
@@HowToCookSmarter Thank you so so much! 😄💜 I’m sure your cake came out delicious even without the red color, your recipes are always incredible!
@@brittanyamara You're very welcome! Actually it was delicious, but not proper red velvet cake. Glad you enjoy the recipes!
If you cut back a little on the peanut butter, and add some actual, chopped peanuts or chopped walnuts (if you're counting the cal/fat content, then add back in weight of what you taken from the nut butter), you can have some nice crunchy bite too! If you leave out some of any of the "liquids" and add some raisins or other dried fruits (like goji berries, cranberries, something like this, but keeping it sugar-free), you can raise the nutritional value, and make the taste and texture more exciting. These kinds of bars have almost infinite variability, I really love to make them, and carry one or two with myself during a half marathon, or even longer run. (But with different ingredients, to make it a bit fuller with fast carbs, and lower on fat/protein, because they cannot be processed during excercise.)
Thanks a lot Peter for this amazing feedback! It all just makes sense! great tips
Best channel ever.
Thanks a lot!
I will proceed to comment the same thing but oats and your recipes are the only thing why I got in shape. You too stay healthy and happy
❤️🙏🏼
Wow, that's amazing, thanks so much for sharing this! Keep it up!
Do these stay stuck together at room temperature and not crumble?
Hi Sasha! What could we substitute apple sauce with? Something healthy except butter?
Hi there! I would go with some mashed banana, just love peanut butter and banana together.
@@HowToCookSmarter thanks! I will try it!
Very nice
Add vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg.
Nice!
What could I substitute for peanut jelly? Thanks
You can add some chopped dried fruits instead of jelly.
I’m definitely going to make these for my Ramadan suhoor (meal before sunrise) to keep me satiated through out the day!
Also, can I add date paste instead of apple sauce or should I add it in place of jam/flavorings?
ONCE AGAIN WAOW
REALLY SO GOOD
WL MAKE SURE
AUSME
Thanks for checking it out!

Thanks so much! Happy New Year to you too, all the best wishes!
Can unsweetened Vocoa Powder be added ?
Great uncle sasha 😄😄😃😄😄😄
Thanks!
Now for the homemade fruit jam recipe!!!! ❤️
Yeah, there will be some fruit jam video too.
Great! 😊
Thanks Vilma!
That would be good with chopped 90% dark chocolate! Like peanut butter cups for breakfast.
YES!! I just made these and melted dark chocolate to put on top...SOOOO yummy!
Sure, you can't go wrong with that.
That's great!
When you have a chance, I'd love to see a breakfast bar for the European taste buds. Thanks
Hi! What kind of ingredients do you have on your mind? Not a peanut butter lover?
That's right (no peanut butter, no nutella etc.) Oat is super, spelt, walnut, almond, dried apricot, prunes, the further from america the better. Thanks for all your wonderful efforts!
@@RabbiMizrachiTimeStamps I agree, nutella is not something we should be eating on a regular basis, but peanut butter is just fine, it's great protein packed breakfast ingredient, but try to find all natural 100% peanut butter.
Yes, you are right. I almost forgot, l use natural peanut butter in the dressing of a baby spinach salad, only not in baking. Anyhow... Good luck and strength to continue!
@@RabbiMizrachiTimeStamps Yes, that's great addition to a salad dressing. Thanks for supporting!
Yumm!!

How add protein (not powder) yo these pls?
Can I replace or dispense apple sauce?
You can use all honey, but I found it too sweet, so I replaced half with applesauce.
@@HowToCookSmarter thanks 🌹
Can I put protein powder in it?
Sure, go for it, use instead of the part of oats.
