Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African minister, writer and revivalist. For more than six decades he served with the Dutch Reformed Church of South Africa, preaching, teaching and writing more than 200 books and pamphlets. Murray became an international figure through his writing and today many of his works are considered devotional classics. These include; Abide in Christ, Absolute Surrender and, Waiting on God. Murray believed in the necessity of total surrender to God and the importance of a deep and personal devotional life.
Murray also believed that "missions is the chief end of the church." He became a key figure in the 1860 revival that spread across South Africa's Cape Colony and he established The Missionary Institute, a school that trained and sent missionaries into the interior of Africa.
Shot on location in South Africa, this documentary tells the story of Andrew Murray's life and mission and provides insight into his provocative teaching.

Thank you so much for providing such a rich visual and historical account regarding the education and travels of the life of Andrew Murray, his family and other Gospel ministers via this wonderful film. I have longed to know more about one of my favourite Christian theologians and devotional authors. The content of the film has filled in many gaps in my understanding for which I am so grateful. It is especially interesting to know of his Gospel/Kingdom influences in the southern regions of Africa. I hold this Christian leader/preacher/teacher/evangelist/author/ in high esteem and am deeply thankful for the influence of his books in my life. Grateful also, to know of his Father's faithfulness and persistence to pray for revival and to learn of the revival that broke out during his son's Andrew Murray's time of ministry. Excellent documentary! Andrew Murray was a great man of God. His association with Keswick ought to have figured in this documentary. We are talking of Keswick in its glory days, 1875-1925; not the Keswick of today.

Yes. I am listening to this story because brother Watchman Nee and brother Witness Lee, they always mention him. Like Penn Leuis and Madan Guyon, B. J. Moody. This saints were book eaters and bible eaters through te years.
When Witness Lee use to write book, he place many note at the end with Andrew Murray. The Lord has lift such a brothers for us to inherit The riches of Christ and specially to dig deep in to the Bible. I was looking for the Keswick revivals at the end of 1800 and there was all this brother in Christ having revival. Is call the revival of Keswick. Don’t remember everyone’s name, but from their revival more than 200,000 came to Christ. Thanks

I am in America. We have sold our soul to public godless and antiGod instructions. Many youth here believe Christianity is bad. One apologist reported that he spoke to youth here about Christianity. He stopped and asked a young man if he believed what was said. His reply was yes, but Christianity is bad. He asked the next person, a young lady, and her respose was the same. It seems the whole group responded the same.
I trmembered a story of Christians who, being taken captive many years ago, were given the unwanted job of caring for the children. The nation became Christian.
I grieve for our children and beg God to give them a revival that will bring many, many to Christ for His glory and the good of many.
How blessed South Africa was for having the Murray family and the two women of God.

As a non White South African, born and raised in Apartheid SA, I have greatly benefitted from the insights AM had. However, it is almost always tinged with bitterness for the role the DRC SA played in giving credence to Nationalist party polices by upholding the false narrative of special divine dispensation given to the Boers in the Groot Trek. The Afrikaner would have us blame the British and vice versa, regardless, the suffering caused will ring through eternity. Blessed be the True Judge. What did these Christian think of taking land from the Africans ?
What did they think when taking land? I do not know. I do not know what people thought while taking the land from native Americans.
But i have read testimonies of those who were saved when the Christians came. They received eternal life and their descendant gave glory to God for it.
Not only Christians came but many many others. Governments fo what governments will do.
In this nation we may see the answer to that question if God brings jufgment upon us.
After the revival ,Murray was made Pope of South Africa , which does not seem very spiritual and how long did the revival last ?
when Murray found people without a church ,he gave them his books ,why didn't he give them bibles and form bible study groups (churches) ,this whole story makes no sense ,where was God in it all ?
Did not it say that his books all had scripture references? Surely it enhanced bible studies among the people.

I am not familiar with Mr. Murray's teaching, but believe that God can use it.
I was saved out of the Catholic Church. In that godless system i learned to believe that God exists. I was a worshipper of Mary as a young child. Yet became aware that I was wrong while still in that church.
I was blessed in that i was given a desire to know truth during that time. God is mighty to save.
Read some Andrew Murray and then come back to me and let me know what you think. These guys were Christian mystics, meaning they actually only desired to know God in their innermost being, and be consumed by Him and His love as a means to overcome selfishness, and to be able to love others, thus obeying the words of Christ. These men were not interested in lip service, they wanted to be living sacrifices unto our LORD. As do I.

I do not intend to inform you of all of these things, but what I will say is this: all carnal men have an agenda (even if their intentions are INCREDIBLY pure in their own mind). Do you want to know what the agenda is? To justify themselves and their own consciences and to desperately try to prove to themselves that God doesn't exist so as to assuage them of their guilt. Listen, if you have not the Spirit of God dwelling inside of you, you will always be growing in knowledge without ever arriving at the truth. It is self-evident to every single man and woman on this planet that they are a created being. Being created implies a creator. Guess what? We can know the creator. Here's a test for you if you really want to know what is going on: Jesus said in the Gospel According to John: “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

If you are entertaining ideas about Paul being a false apostle and getting your information from the internet, you are listening to demons rather than the Helper who was promised to those of us who want to love God and honor Him. Do not think I am not aware of the arguments either, friend. I actually get a kick out of them (the LORD has blessed me richly with great discernment). But, if you run into seeming contradictions in the Bible, it is almost always because you are trying to get God and His Word to fit inside your carnal mind. You can't see what you can't see. Just because people twist Paul's words around (which Peter prophesied that they would do in the Epistle of 2nd Peter chapter 4), does not mean that he was anything other than what he claimed to be. I'll be praying for you, my friend.
