This time, we're at the illustrious Barcelo Maya Palace in the Mayan Riviera, Mexico.
The Barcelo Maya Palace is next level from the entry level hotels on property. There are three a la carte restaurants, beautiful pools, and a wonderful beach that you can swim with wild sea turtles. Just returned from seven days there.....great resort with just the right amount of energy hanging by the massive pool and main bar....snorkeling with a banana and dinner roll brings in hundred of fish around you and sea turtles the size of large boulders 👍.....typical buffet food with lots of choices, al acarte's were great!!....this resort is massive and very clean with all of the other barcelo's and great for people that like to walk.....all interaction with resort workers (check in, housekeeping, bartenders) was 10/10 ....yes, book-it!

Dude, the lobster cappuccino and salmon cigar rolls are so good at the French restaurant. HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Great snorkeling at this beach. Saw turtles, cuddle fish, and rays.
Yes, we heard that but didn’t get a chance to snorkel ourselves!
Is there a specific time of year to see the turtles while snorkeling?
@Florence Dixon no. We have been there in January and February, and they have been there. I hear people are feeding them fruit, so they come right up to you.
went last year and going back again in 10 days. can't wait !!!

Known for its sleepy beach towns, boho-chic boutique hotels, fabulous local cuisine, ancient ruins, and jungle treasures, the Mayan Riviera is still one of the best places to visit in all of Mexico

Thanks for watching! Sorry, we didn’t use the ice machine when we were there, but we assume they work 🤷🏼♀️ the bowling is around $15 per person per game 👍🏻

We think they’re both very comparable - but prefer the Barcelo a bit more. The beach is great at both. The Barcelo was less busy when went

Yes, the Palace is beautiful and has an authentic Mexican vibe 👍🏻 it has a bit nicer rooms and better selection of food and restaurants 👍🏻

The premium lounge will have a self-serve bar and usually staff that can bring you other drinks from what I remember 🤔

I believe there are shared tennis courts for the whole complex - but not sure how many. Yes, there is an amazing fitness centre situated between the Maya Colonial and Caribe 👍🏻 here’s the link to our Caribe video so u can check it out:

Thank you for this great overview! We are going there with a large family group. My husband and I want a nice sized suite because our room will be a central spot for everyone to gather, plus we'll probably be watching the grandkids some while they're parents go off on their own. What's the best option for us for that type suite?
It depends what your budget is - the family junior suite is a junior suite with a bed and living room area, plus a separate bedroom attached and can sleep up to 5 people. You can see the full details of the room on the Barcelo Maya Palace website, but it sounds like it might work for your needs 👍🏻

Any idea from where to take a shuttle from the airport. Do they have their own shuttle and how to reserve it?
There isn’t a resort shuttle that we know of.. you can take a taxi or google shuttles from Cancun airport and pre-book that way.

Yes, I believe the checkin desk is in the lounge

Great video thanks! Palace decor and more of a Mexican ambiance is definitely more to our taste than the Riviera.
We stayed at Tropical previously (the beach that you’re on at the end of the video) and will probably try the Palace next.
Yes, the Palace is more authentically Mexican. If you enjoyed the Tropical, then you will definitely love the palace!

We liked it!! The Tropical, Colonial, Caribe and Beach are all very similar and it’s nice that u can visit them all 👍🏻
We were there early March 2020 and loved it! There’s a good Facebook group Barcelo Maya Beach/Caribe/Colonial/Tropical/Palace for lots of great info! Enjoy

How hard was it to make reservations for restaurants? And can you make reservations for all the other resorts you can access? Deciding between this and the Riu Palace, which doesn't require reservations.
The popular restaurants book up super fast, so make sure you book them right at check in. Yes you can make reservations at the other Barcelos.
Awesome. What time did you go there? Wondering if May is a good time to go (and avoid any rainy days 🌧 )
We went in June, 2022 and the weather was great! You shouldn’t get much rain in May, but you might get some seaweed in the ocean 🤷🏼♀️
@@WherewegoingNext thanks for your feedback, I heard that after May and before August it can get very hot there. We are traveling from Canada, so the Mexican summer heat might be too much the handle 🥵😆
It does get hot, but not unbearable in our opinion- and we’re from Canada also 🇨🇦 it’s nothing like summer in Florida lol!

what does all inclusive mean when it comes to drinks?
All drinks are included!! Of course there are a few premium liquors that you would have to pay for, but all your regular beers, wines and liquors are included 👌🏻👌🏻
Does anyone know if the palace offers top shelf liquor for premium guest such as grey goose vadka, Don Julio tequila, Hendrix gin, or crown? Thanks
Not sure - it might be an extra cost 🤔
How long of a walk is it to the Maya Colonial? Is it far to those pools?
It’s about a 5 -10 minute walk along the beach path. You can also take the resort bus from lobby to lobby 👍🏻
It would’ve been nice to show us what to expect in the rooms. I would like to know if they have hanging lines to hang dry clothes.

Hello. After all my research I decided in returning to the Barcelo Property. To be honest, I stayed at the Barcelo Riviera Maya AO and it was great ammenities, but I noticed the staff was a little rude, especially at the buffet. I want to try the Barcelo Maya Palace this time. I am curious in the Premium level, is it worth to pay extra for this?
I’m sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the Maya Riviera - we loved it there! As far as the premium level perks, it’s worth checking out the website to see what all of the benefits are. We took advantage of the free room service and the premium lounge a lot, so we found that it was worth it. The private checkin at the premium lounge was also a nice touch and went very quickly and smoothly 👍🏻

Planning family vacation, 10 adults, three families to stay at Barcelo Maya Palace. Pros and cons for food, activities.
The food is great at the buffets but the ala cartes are excellent 👌🏻 there are some activities around the pool during the day and shows at the theatre at night. You can also check out the other resorts and see what the have to offer 👍🏻
What do you get with premium level and does Barcelo Maya Riviera get access to amenities at Barcelo Palace?

Riviera Maya has access to Palace, but not the other way around.
What resort would you recommend the most out of the barcelos you have been?

What is your reason as to why the beach in front of Maya Palace is not swimable, just curious? I’ve seen videos of people in the water. You do great videos btw:)
There are lots of rocks and coral reef right in front.. but you can walk down to the right a few mins to the other Barcelos and swim there
If YOU could only stay at one location at barcelo, then which would it be? Palace, tropical, colonial, caribe?
I would say the Palace bc you get access to the most restaurants and amenities - however the beach is not great. The next best would be the Caribe in terms of beach, location and amenities 👍🏻

Wait, Palace has it's own Theater? I was in Palace, and decided to go for a long walk and found myself in Tequilas Theater! Rushed there everyday after dinner!😭

Which resort do you think is better this one or Bahia Principe luxury Akumal? Trying to decide
It’s tough to say - depends what you prioritize in a vacation 🤷🏼♀️ the Barcelo is part of a great complex with lots to offer, has an authentic Mexican vibe, but has no real beach. The BP Akumal has a great yet a bit rocky beach, good food and entertainment, but offers a different vibe 🤷🏼♀️ essentially, they are both very similar and you can’t go wrong with either.

They don’t really have a nightclub - just a DJ or band in the main lobby. The nightclub is in the Maya Mall/Market area in the complex. Otherwise, yes I think you can get a day pass for Riviera - at least you could when we were there 🤷🏼♀️
Could you explain how the ala carte restaurants reservations work? I’ve seen you get 4 vouchers for 7 days. I’ve also seen just make a reservation in the morning. Is it free or much much extra is it to make reservations?
It’s free to make reservations and eat at the ala carte restaurants! 👍🏻 you can reserve them anytime of the day - just go to guest services and they will do that for you 👍🏻 the earlier in your trip you book them, the better - some of the popular ones book up fast !

Yes, they have 2 bedroom suites and you can also get connecting rooms.

The popular restaurants book up fast, so it’s best to book as soon as you check in to the hotel
How was the seaweed situation?
Not bad! Some days the water was clear, some days there was quite a bit 🤷🏼♀️ it comes and goes with the tide. The resort does a great job of clearing what’s on the beach 👍🏻
Do they have food shacks or buffets by the pool?
No, it’s more by the main lobby
Great video! We are super excited to arrive in August! 🦀🐠🌴🌴 how was the nightlife at the resorts ? Any music, dancing ? Times? You said washroom, for anyone to use for laundry?
There is a show at the theatre at 9:30-10:30 and some nights there is live music in the lobby - other than that, there is a sports bar at the Maya Mall on complex that stays open late and that’s about it. 🤷🏼♀️
By washroom we mean restrooms 🚽 with toilets- not laundry.
You can request from housekeeping to do your laundry for an extra charge.
Which is Better, Bahia Tulum or Barcelo Maya Palace????
It depends what you like 🤷🏼♀️ BP Tulum is newly renovated and more modern looking and the beach is nice and swimmable, whereas the Maya Palace is more traditional looking but no swimmable beach. The food is pretty comparable at both.

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH ULTIMATE LEISURE CLUB - nearly everything they told us in the sales meeting was a lie and we are now out thousands. I've not been to this hotel, but its probably very nice, but you should definitely book it with other operators like TUI

Its too bad the lobby décor and the architectural style are polar opposites. Colonial Spanish and conceptual modern furnishings? Its like the architect and interior designer never spoke. Having said that I still can't wait to be there for Spring Break! A couple of Margs in me and I won't care anymore!

I don't recommend this Hotel ONE BIT. Ever since the bartender gave me a dirty look and threw my 2 dollars into the tip jar like if it was trash I said screw these guys I'm never going to this Hotel again. I stopped tipping for the remainder of my days the moment that happened,. Also, my 3 year old son ended up leaving the kids room area where he was suppose to be SUPERVISED. The food quality is below average, the service sucks. I'll never go there again and do not recommend this resort. I'll be trying the Grand Moon Palace this year and it how it goes..

I honestly didn’t like this place. Apple and orange juice Drinks/cocktails are so disgusting. I didn’t enjoy a single drink here. Food was alright but not amazing unless you booked at the fancy restaurants. There were flies all over the place and hair in my food. My bedroom had dirty stained old lamps. Wasn’t impressed at all. The Spa was the only spot I loved. If you really want to have an amazing stay, PLEASE visit THE GRAND @ Moon Palace. MIND BLOWING!
