Clem wouldn’t have enough scans to deal with the lurker transition since he’s been using it on the creep tumor rush with burrowed roach and overlord creep pooping queen drops
From anyone else game 5 would've been treated like a meme, but that was seriously innovative and effective. Love seeing the game evolve even after so much time.
It was annoying, but Clem should have done better to clean that up. Imagine it was 2 Dropplelord full of banes or something, you need to make a Viking or send a Medivac to clean those up.
@@atrudokht I think Serral was thinking of Clem doing a Mech build with Banshee, which would be completely destroyed by what Serral was doing, Roach push with Queen support. We have seen some KR Zerg done that against Terran who does Mech build with early Banshee before. But when Serral saw it was Bio and not Mech, he completely change the pace and pretend to do a pressure but stil tech up super quick at home. And Clem was so not ready for that.
This was amazing! Both of these players performed outstanding, and even as the winners became clear at the end of each game, it was never easily won. 5 nailbiters in a row! What a treat!
Did you see the earlier tournament where they were playing with a swiss system instead of single elimination? You had these pro players playing against players who qualified but weren't on their level. The players we usually see in the RO32 and such were winning entire series in under 15 minutes against players who would probably thrash 95% of players online, but simply weren't on their level. The difference between these finalists and people who are just grandmasters is massive.
That third game was such a masterclass from Serral, the way he changed up his style and played close to perfect countering clems style is the reason he is the goat.
@@tigera6 ZvZ is a rock paper scissors MU. It'll probably always be 50/50 among the top zergs for that reason. In ZvT and ZvP, Rogue never even got close to Serral's level. Serral is the epitome of both mechanical and brain.
@@fotojenic8198 Rogue was never the consistent player that Serral is. But that didnt stop him from winning 2 IEM 1 Blizzcon and 4 GSL title. You acting like Rogue was only a ZvZ specialist or something?
It's an old argument, but Serral never lived through the Korean days. We talking about days when every Korean player was studying the game, not these days where most Korean pro gamers are like 25yrs+ because Blizzard decided not to fund anymore competitions
Serral is employing Erik's creep spread block timing in Game 5, which is covered by Lowko ruclips.net/video/JOCywO5ycAs/видео.html But of course he is playing it in a more mature way, spreckling creep colonies everywhere, a little OP. Probably they will nerf it.
Considering having a Viking or a Cyclone with Medivac will shut that down, I doubt they will nerf it. Hell, even building a Raven in this case to clean up creep could also be good. Clem was just completely unprepared for it, and instead of slowing the game down and turtle, he went with Marines all out against Roach Ravager.
With Ravens getting a buff in the last patch, I really doubt they will nerf it. Build a damn Raven if you see this, you will completely shut it down. Clem is too inflexible with his builds, and Serral knows that and capitalizes on it.
A creep spread block on the third? It delayed the third base landing by 10 whole seconds. That didn't affect Clem's macro for shit compared to the investment serral put into it. Plus, I'm pretty sure Scarlett or many other zergs have quickly done drop overlords with queens to spread creep across the map quickly YEARS ago. Erik did NOT invent this 3 weeks ago.. And nerf what? What was op about this? It wasn't the creep that did ANYTHING, it was just having ONE drop overlord of three queens and one other drop overlord of roaches that did economic damage. In no way was the creep spread necessary at ALL for those drop harrasses. It just took Clem off guard and Serral followed up with quick lurkers/vipers that Clem was not expecting that caught him off guard and made him think for too long on how to approach the situtation, while Serral knew exactly what his follow up was, that ended the game.
Yeah I agree with others, game 5 was creative and fun to watch, Serral mixing it up and dropping pockets of creep on the map and doing drops, almost felt a bit Terran-like.
5:30 I never understand the SC casters, they always wanna justify stupid all ins / pushes. 15 workers, so what? Serral had still 15 supply more, more workers and more army supply. So the push was a total loss
Clem can only play in one-gear, and that just work against him at some points here and there. Dont forget he was down 0-2 to BOTH Wayne and Elazer before this, because he was playing with too much momentum and at times didnt have a clean defensive set up at home.
@@tigera6 give serral some credit for the mind games. Clem doesnt defend, he punches back harder. You have to have some balls running early game aggression against Clem and eco off of that knowing Clem is going to bring the hammer for poking him.
@@freebornfloor1600 Well, like I said, Wayne and Elazer got Clem down 0-2 because they were doing just that. Not saying Serral are just like Wayne or Elazer, but there is a blue print on how Clem like to play and how you can somewhat counter this play.
@@tigera6 in any compeition, defense makes someone a champion or not. Doesn't matter if it's chess, basketball, boxing or sc2. If clem doesn't work on this, he'll never be a champ or even good.
Because of couple points 1) Serral was a head in Bases 2) Clem lost his Army 3) Cant rebuild enough against Serral because he lost 4 Command Center 5) Because Serral is a head in Bases he cant come back because of the lost from his Command Center and also the Army lose. If he not lose this Base i think he continue to playing
If you check army supply at the end of the games. Clem’s supply remained static around 130-150 against Serral’s 200 re-max (similarly Serral lost first two games without the ability to remax army compared to clem) Many reasons this can occur. But often comes from one or two of the reasons: 1. One army out techs and counters the other. For instance bio tank vs roach only. In one game it was ghost bio vs lurker ling baneling 2. Lack of economy. Game 3-4 Serral punished Clem for leaving openings in his base. Eith a damaged econony after an equal fight, serral can remax but clem cannot and has to build eco (scvs). This basically becomes a death by thousand cuts barring changes in army composition.
So glad Roti is commentating this one
amazing series, Impresive 5th game from Serral, is good to see him trying new things. GOAT !!
