- Every so often I try to do a Turkey Load/Gun video
for all the new beginning turkey hunters,
So I understand this video isn't for everyone.
However, it could help some that's been thinking
on whether to switch to a scope or not.
Last year I made a big change in my turkey gear.
I'm glad I made the switch.

I put a TruGlo that has both red and green reticles on my Mossberg 535 ats and it is awesome.
Got the Rem 870 turkey thug this year. Came with TruGlo scope. It's really sweet! Haven't got a Tom this year but thug season is right around my corner. 😀
Nice vid Dale. I went to a red dot 2 years ago but haven’t got a turkey close enough yet to really see how it will perform.
I think they are scared of me now. 😂
Great videos bud I’m not to far from you here in rolla every wanna chase some old birds I have a good piece of land we can hunt
I put a reflex red-dot on my turkey gun (Win 1300) last year. it is the "bees knees"
Good info, looking for a setup for a mossberg 930 this helped!
I have had good results with the carlson xr choke&longbeard xr 3 1/2 #6 shooting the remington supermag. What type of red dot did you try? Im gonna give eotech 512 a try this year
Matt, I’m wondering what is the correct way to dispatch a turkey that doesn’t die immediately?
Shoot the gobbler in the head again. I've had to do it a couple of times. Sometimes if you don't hit the head right you can actually just stun them.. they can get away.
Step on his head and wait till he stops moving, It wont take long.
Step on the neck. Whatever you do don’t grab him. He will spur you and I know a few that needed stitches after a tangle with a long beard.
@@joehitchings9321 .can you just step on the head and cut it off, why wait?
Call them in close enough, which is more than half the fun, put the barrel-bead on the neck, and pull the trigger. There’s no need for a scope; just more weight added to the shotgun. I have yet to put a single pellet into edible meat.
I wouldn't put a scope on my turkey gun but that's just me good video tho
What scope do you use?

Dont wanna be that guy Matt and I know you're a professional but for the kids watching for informational purposes you should practice what we are all though in hunter ed and treat every gun as if its loaded 😂👉 great videos though
The chamber was open the whole time, and not loaded the first of the video. Didn't load it till I was ready to shoot.. everything was safe.. not sure what I did but of course safety is number one
I was thinking the same thing. Even though you knew it had an empty chamber, when you put that choke in I choked.
But I got over it soon enough.
@@harrypouncey9218 lol if it was loaded of course it would be dangerous. But you always make sure it's unloaded.. it was all a safe situation.
@@daleoutdoors17 when you're hand was resting over the barrel in the beginning. I just want to mess with you man you have taught me a life time of knowledge my last season. Thanks for your work man greatly appreciated.
people are soooo quick to judge!
Is the gun as good as the mossberg Turkey
I switched to longbeard xr this year. Killed two turkeys, but failed to kill the third one because I was not all the way down on the stock. It was a close shot. I now understand why people go to a scope set up on a turkey gun.
ive had one on mine for a few years now and won’t go back.. aint missed one yet.
