    Pretty impressive for a big old truck tbh.

    Hello my friend . Any chance of testing the ford s max hybrid in city conditions? Thanks

  • @theblitz1687

    Any chance you could do this with the 140HP hybrid corolla? Its petrol engine in only 98HP, so Ive always been curious what happens if you are low on battery.
    For example if you want to overtake, do you really need to look at battery percentage everytime? Does the car go from 140 to 98 when battery is low?

      @TomaszNiechaj 2 дня назад

      Have you ever seen less than 3 bars (out of 8 in total) SOC of the battery in Toyota hybrid? :)

    • @theblitz1687
      @theblitz1687 2 дня назад

      @TomaszNiechaj I havent in the time we rented it out. But i wasnt the driver. If the car treats those last 3 bars as empty (since it never goes below that), does that mean it only has 98HP at that point? I dont think petrol engine can output 98 while also charging the battery and thus providing power for electric motor.

      @@theblitz1687 if the SOC is 3 out of 8,it is not empty and you have still some electric power

      @@theblitz1687 The max output in full hybrid corolla is always available, real battery state of charge never drops below 40%, regardless of how many bars there is on the display. In theory, you could force the car to discharge the battery all the way, if you drove an endless uphill at high speed.
      But please note there is a difference between what you asked and the subject of this vid. Here a PLUG-IN hybrid is tested. PHEV can operate as an EV when there is enough energy in the battery. Once it is depleted, it defaults into a full hybrid operation, not allowing the battery to discharge all the way.

    Wait how is the Prime quicker accelerating than the BYD Seal U eventhough it has less horsepower on paper? Is the BYD overstating their specs or is Toyota underselling it kind of like what BMW does with its engines? Especially consider the fact Toyota actually never publishes true torque figures..Maybe it has more torque than BYD?
    Not to mention Toyota is more fuel efficient....Is this because of NMC vs LFP chemistry in the battery?

    • @maciekg4775
      @maciekg4775 2 дня назад +1

      Torque does not matter, read and watch documents about it. The important thing is power and power to weight ratio

      I was going to guess weight, but it looks like they are pretty similar

      The toyota is a much lighter car. They dont publish torque figures because there is no meaning in doing so with this kind of transmission. You can get high torque figures without going full throttle, actually on full throttle the torque may be lower to half throttle. If you put it on a dyno you will get around 500nm.

    I have to say, that’s respectable at the least in the acceleration times.

    • @claub2621
      @claub2621 2 дня назад +2

      Imo it's borderline respectable. 6 sec to 100 kmh and low 14s in the 1/4 mile for an AWD car with 306hp is nothing special.
