How to make an Eggless Marble Cake using Vanilla and Chocolate Sponge

  • This video shows you how to make a soft eggless marble cake. Here you need to make two types of sponge, one being vanilla and the other chocolate. Then we show you the technique of how to mix both the sponges together to get the perfect marble type effect on your cake. Remember to use your oven in BAKE mode.Then we show you the proper way to cool your cake down on a wire rack before you can decorate it. Finally, you also get a demo of how to give your marble cake a sugar icing decoration along with some colorful sprinkles.
    Ingredients & Equipments
    RING TIN 7 inches
    FOR GREASING AND DUSTING THE CAKE TIN
    MELTED BUTTER
    FLOUR
    PREHEAT OVEN 160°C for 20 mins
    INGREDIENTS
    FLOUR 1 1/4 Cup (160 gms)
    POWDERED SUGAR 2 tbsp
    SOFT BUTTER 100 gms
    CONDENSED MILK 200 ml
    WATER 1/2 Cup (100ml)
    VANILLA ESSENCE 1 tsp
    BAKING POWDER 1 tsp
    BAKING SODA 1/2 tsp
    COCOA POWDER 3 tbsp
    WHITE CHOCOLATE
    BAKE 160 C
    BAKE 35 Mins
    COOL DOWN 20 Mins
    GLACÉ ICING
    ICING SUGAR 2 Cup (250 gms)
    VANILLA ESSENCE 1/2 tsp
    LEMON JUICE 2-3 tsp
    HOT WATER
    COLORED SUGAR BALLS
    WIRE RACK TO COOL THE CAKE ON .

    Ma'am I have one question if you Could answer I would be very grateful. Most of ur cake videos u beat flour butter and sugar and condensed milk together, some people say we should beat butter and sugar together first and then add condensed milk! Does it make a difference? ?

      In my recipe it doesn't make any difference at all. Just make sure the butter is soft n the sugar is powdered !

    Hello mam ! I am new home baker and I love your videos as they are so simple to understand and follow !
    I have a few questions.
    1. Why do you use water and not milk?
    2. Can regular cooking olive oil be used instead of butter or can melted butter be used?
    3. Is there a substitute for condensed milk? Maybe if i can increase the quantity of sugar... What exactly is the purpose of using condensed milk?

      You can use milk . No problem
      I prefer soft butter
      Can use olive oil / regular cooking oil
      Half butter n half oil is also good
      I have substituted condensed milk with hung yoghurt (curds) and extra sugar but each to their own I didn’t like it so much

    Hi ...I tried this recipe , unfortunately couldn't get the desired result....I somehow don't seem to get the desired outcome when it comes to marble cake...I have tried so many recipes, with egg and without egg , but it just doesn't come out right... everytime when I check whether the cake is cooked o not...I realise that something s wrong...my cake always turns out to be very greasy. When I place my finger on the cake to check whether the sponge springs back...there's like a small dent in the cake and my finger becomes greasy. I'm really disappointed...I have no clue where I'm going wrong. Would really appreciate if you could help me solve this...thank you

    Hi Ma'am can we use oil instead of butter. I would like to frost this cake with butter cream or whipping cream. While keeping the cake in the fridge the butter hardens. Is there any tip for this ma'am.

      Yes u can use oil instead . Butter cakes do get hard in the fridge.
      U can soak the sponges with a little simple syrup that will help or u can take out the cakes 20 mins before serving.
      A tip
      You may also use half butter and half oil while preparing the batter.

    Hi. I used 3 tbsp of Cadbury cocoa powder, but the chocolate part of my cake wasn’t sweet at all. Should I increase the sugar ? Or should I reduce the cocoa powder?

      Lot of ppl don't like taste of vinegar so wanted to show that it's possible to make a soft sponge without vinegar.
      With vinegar you get an even better texture.

      Pls do use vinegar every time. It gives very good results. Some ppl don't have or don't like using vinegar so I just want to show that the recipes do work without vinegar too

      You need to beat the cream correctly with an electric beater until u get stiff peaks

    Man I made the marvel cake exactly in the same way as you showed it came out to be soft n moist but only it was slightly crumbly
    What can be the reason for this I used condensed milk made at home Can this be the cause

    Hello Ma'am..really luv to watch n try ur recipes.. hav 1 query if u cud plz.answer.. In one of the chocolate sponge recipe, u hav used vinegar (mixed in water along wth vanilla essence) whereas in another recipe u haven't. Plz.let me knw the difference.

      It shouldn't have
      Did u use correct amount of baking agents. If u use too much mayb that's the cause.
      Make sure they have not expired.
      Did u use too much cocoa powder n wat company did u use ? I prefer Cadbury's then any other brand for home use.

    hi! I Am new to baking so preheating is generally done for both rods that is in toast mode and when we start baking we get into the bake mode and bake the cake. but your cup cakes and this recipe says to preheat in bake mode and bake. Will you get a slight brown at top for cakes or not. else what is the correct procedure, pls let me know

      Every oven is different . In my experience best result come with just using bake mode which means only the bottom rods are working.
