Just picked mine up. I was the first to purchase it from my hardware store. They hadn't even put one together for display yet. Just built it, super solid. Well built. Knob feel is excellent. Grease trap design is awesome. My lid is a little tight and lifts the griddle up when I open so I need to loosen the nuts up a hair but man this is an excellent looking grill. Bummer I can't yet find the accessories I want to buy, but I'm sure they'll find their way to the stores soon.
I just ordered mine. Can’t wait to try it out. I like the grease drain concept, the slot for spatulas to rest, the hidden grease cup, being able to use the lid as a dome (not supposed to do that with the Blackstone…), the jet starters seem perfect, another review I read talks about how even the heat is. Really looking forward to it.
Love the grease trap design, mimics what you would see on a commercial griddle. Just feel they missed the mark by not adding a bottom shelf. Weber hit the ball out of the park with their new design on the slate, but then again I guess thats why it is double the price of the Gridiron.
The only reason there is not bottom shelf is because of the price. I cooked on it all day a few weeks ago and I loved it. Best griddle in the market from a practice cook, engineering, and functionality
Depends on if they use the same diffusers to evenly distribute the heat. The FTG600 was known to have good distribution because of that. Hopefully they didn’t change it
I have had two of their griddles, Blackstone, and blue rhino and worked on many others. This one in my opionion and several others I worked with agree this is the best one so far on the market in terms of consistency of heat distribution and features.
They released a video showing the dimensions. There is 600+ sq inches of cooking space counted separately from the grease gutter. So even if you removed the entire grease gutter it would still have more cooking space than the previous model ftg600
@@cheftimclowers Don't get me wrong, I like the front edge grease trap. I just wish it didn't slope down. It takes two inches of cooking area away from the griddle. I always liked the location and style of the original camp chef griddle. I would have bought one if the temperatures on low were lower. The camp chef griddle just got too hot on low for me!!
@@NipItInTheBud100 Makes sense for you. This one was engineered much better than their others because it keeps consistent low heat and high heat as well a medium. Lights easier than any other griddle. Me and 6 others worked on this all day and they performed amazing. At least give them a look. Best Griddle I have ever worked on by far.

That's Rain, Mother Nature decided to attend our launch event. We had rain, wind, and even snow. Luckily there were some breaks where we could film and cook.
If you’re going to do a review on a griddle, you need to do a heat test and show how even the heat is on the surface across the whole surface
I actually did - that video is already up
And more to come
Would you recommend this or the Blackstone 36 griddle?
Definetly the Campchef. I have a creator who does all in content on youtube and he would not recommend a blackstone at all.
Camp Chef over Blackstone ALLLL Day. Way better quality and design

You can find accessories at bbq guys.com or campchef.com for sure - I put mine together a few days ago
Has very strong resemblance to the Traeger Frlat Rock Griddle specially with the oil drain and the lid
Not used that one but my friends prefer this one who have used it

Yay. The jet staters is what excited me for sure.

i wonder if that griddle top and lid can be retrofitted to the ftg600
Possibly
How big is the actual cooking surface?
616
Can you close the lid while cooking?
Yes but only for 10 minutes when your on a lower heat
616 Sq inches according to BBQGuys.
They released a video that shows the 616sq inches doesn’t include the grease trap gutter. It’s over 700 sq inches when you include the grease gutter
Do u grill in the gutter?
@@mjfm4I’m sure you can cook stuff down there if you want but it probably doesn’t heat up as hot as the actual cooking area
Debating between this griddle and Camp Chef's Flat Top 600. Any thoughts on which one if better?

@@cheftimclowers Thank you!! Can't wait to order this one on the 20th!
@@waltedwards your welcome
That price is great
Completely agree
Seems like the grease trap being in the front significantly reduces the cookable surface
Not at all or at least to me. Makes cooking so much easier for me.

The slope of the grease drain is such a waste of griddle space!
Really? I think it’s perfect because if you cook on a griddle a lot which I do you need to be able to remove grease and waste

Is that massive grease splatter all over the left side table and underneath on the black mat? Are griddles that messy?

@@campchef Thanks for the update. Is there a cover for the new gridiron? Can this live outside in Ontario, Canada winters?
