- Welcome to the Scrapyard. Space Engineers where what you can't build, you must find.
Curious about the audio? We've been utilising Remaarn's Teamspeak plugin for Space Engineers to communicate with each other while getting positional audio without the glitching that is common with the inbuilt system :)

Splitsie playing Space Engineers with a big group of friend while working on the most absurd land vehicle ever built is so wholesome.
This is truly the pinnacle of SE, a bunch of friends combining their progression to build something that necessitates a fist fight with the physics engine as sacrifice to make it work. It and its escorts make for such a cool sight and experience that you just can't really replicate alone.
That's exactly what I want: co-op, not griefing.
Given how integral trains have been to this whole thing (Zardener's locomotive which sparked the idea for Splitsie's behemoth) I think it's only adequate that you build a train-shaped space ship.
I'm thinking Astrotrain (Transformers)
TFE on the front with the fire behind him looks great. TFE: Thank You for providing your point of view of the Ice Raid. Splitsie, thank you for including TFE's view. Arstraea, Thank you for your POV as well. That was unexpected.
It was my first time to joining the event, and I'm glad to helped the mission and video.
Well done all crews, and hope see you guys next time. 😄
I loved seeing the bit where you picked up your hitchhiker, was great because I felt really bad leaving them behind :D
@@Splitsie we picked multiple on our way. Eventually people were just surfing on the roof once we ran out of seats xD
The Hitch worked 🎉 if that’s not a stress test I don’t know what is
a crash test, i guess xD
It requires a tutorial on how to set it up to be fully complete! 😄
What settings do you use for the hinges? That's a really neat design btw
@@R.U.Sirius23for lightweight and single trailers, you can get away with setting all the hinges to 0 torque, ensuring that inertia tensor is off, heavier grids and those with multiple trailers will need tweaking as you go
The hitch doesn't really have "pitch" articulation, does it? Those middle hinges being at an angle means that one of them has pitch up coupled to clockwise roll and the other one has pitch up coupled to counter-clockwise roll. The middle hinges seem to do "not a lot" at best and might be fully unneeded at worst. Might give better articulation with a rotor AND vertical hitch in the middle of the arms.
On the other hand, NOT having pitch articulation might have been what saved you on that landing at 29:45...
Also, it really seems to needs limits, for when one of the two arms comes loose.
The most hype I felt watching a Space Engineers video, especially with everybody rolling out in a formation at the enemy!
And this time actually surviving
I so love the positional sound as people move around and talk. Now we need a PA system, Ie., speakers placed so voice is where ever the speakers are.
Congrats, btw the escorts Idea felt way more Mad Max than all the other previous attempts
Evwry bit of this attempt was incredible. The train buildup, the hitch design saving bot one but two rigs from disaster, the well formed group and execution of the plan, and the teamwork that made all of it possible. This is probably my most favorite video.
The train performed well, durable enough to survive Splitsies driving and the ring of escorts was the winning tactic. Watching all the engineers work together was truly enjoyable. Can't wait for the next installment !
Looking at TFE in front and people walking on top of the train, i wonder if Chipstix would be willing to make a modded couch/cockpit where its just player in various poses, like Titanic T-pose, Superman Fist First or simple train Surfer. Could be entertaining if anything ;)
Can't wait for the next event. It was lot of fun, even if i just sat on the passenger seat most of the time.
lol I do wonder how much of the pose can be changed with emotes
Hard to come by a gaming community that is so well organized. Building the train and escorts was no small feat!
That's why we are called Space Engineers! 😄
I'm so glad I was facing backwards, it looked a lot better (safer) than looking forward.
This episode deserves a ridiculous number of Space Engineers game episode awards. If they don't exist, they should be created to be given to this episode. Most enjoyable to watch. Cheers!
With the two rovers facing each other (TFE's) I almost expected the "friendly" one to be shivering in fear :D
lol :D
Such amazing episode. Seeing everyone working together was so wholesome. It would be so awesome if you all set up shop at the lake and started building the space ship as a group and everyone has their own roles and tasks. The Rebellion 😂
Enjoyed this one. That plan worked well and the hinge system clearly worked as well.
I lost count, but looked like minimal loss of Escort vehicles.
Well done.
Crazy, I now remember I used to watch your channel 5 years ago, but I stopped using the same account as my Dad and didn't rediscover your channel until this series. I've watched all episodes now, great to see you're still uploading so consistently.
Just remember to take brakes, there is a lot good stuff to watch ^^
This was really epic, holy moly, what a ice heist.
i was really thinking that i was not gonna like this idea of all of you going for ice and being chaced ,but you made it so good and so entertaining it gave me flashbacks of back in the days when we use to gather in mmorpg games and go hunting pvp or going beating world bosses being chaced by other players and doing strategy moves so we survive i loved it.
I absolutely love the idea of coordinating lighting flames on one side of the train to indicate when it will turn. The only thing that would make that idea better is having crews of people who work the fires.
Even though it's probably not hitting much on manual control, I absolutely love the thundering fire of the autocannon turret sounding out above the gatlings. A very thematic-focused addition to the vehicle in every way. And it looks as cinematic as it sound when it's absolutely racing across the landscape - SE doesn't always give that much feedback on your movement, but the articulation and the shifting of the wheels makes it quite easy to pick up on.
I'm very curious about how the Blizzards work. What makes them decide when to use rockets? I don't think they fire them immediately and just run out, though that is possible, but either way it's quite helpful to the design of the decoys to have that information.
However, similar information that you've got is that once you're in the restricted zone, the bases appear all around you. You don't want your big turtle to be too slow, lest it be out of position up front and get torn apart after the train does for nothing. Lots to think about.
Some vehicles not making it just means we get to see even more ridiculous things made for the next ice run - I am under no illusion that this one run will fuel an escape ship big enough for all of you. The train's reliability will be tested yet, and if it's even half as cool to see as this one was, then it will be quite something indeed. And the repair while salvaging, everyone pooling what they've found, is so fun to see.
Oh man, that was so cool! Watchin the decoy buggies zigging and zagging, the defense cars going ham as you beat feet. Amazing! Well executed. 10/10
This episode has been SO COOL AND EPIC! Can't wait to see how you manage the hydrogen, future incursions and the ship you design!! 👏👏👏 GO CREW!
Great video of a remarkable concerted effort. Can‘t believe this didn‘t have to be rehearsed and still worked out (mostly) fine. Well done, crew!
I loved all the different perspectives from multiple users‘ views.
Actually those escorts sacrifice Save the train and a genius idea
Tiffany the Ship Mermaid
lol :D
That was a lot of fun to watch. Thank you, everyone involved!
Cool to see my idea for a double hotch works. I imagined it like cables pulling tracked vehicles.
06:15 - "This should work, except when it won't. I have no reason to doubt its functionality besides all the reasons to do so." - the wise words of any engineer doing anything
TFE the new figurehead of the Franko-train lol
Splitsie, you're taking on way too much responsibility when you're driving, navigating, and coordinating the escorts.
Driver: keep moving and keep from destroying the train on the terrain
Mission command: direct the driver to avoid enemies, difficult terrain, direct the defense command in target priority
Defense command: maintain the positions of escorts and dispatch them to priority targets as directed by mission command.
Escorts: simplified call sign designations: alpha, bravo, etc. maintain your position (clock hours relative to train) move positions or dispatch to intercept targets as directed by defense command.
Ooo nice idea. Maybe TFE could get access to a camera mounted to the front to navigate, and someone sitting on the roof could direct the decoy vehicles.
That was an incredible effort and just awesome to see everyone working together.
I can’t believed that worked so well. The first time was such a disaster, I wouldn’t have thought the second attempt would fare much better.
god I love being able to watch your videos again. I lost alot of free time after going to Uni but this makes my summer work week alot better.
Now that's a proper convoy, you just need more dakka now
Splitsie doing 90+ in a ground vehicle
*concern intensifies*
And thats m/s, so around 300 km/h :P
@@davidmartensson273 Yeah its kinda crazy how your character can run at like 30 km/h forever.
Awesome episode! Now I just need to screenshot the double hitch design for ... uhm ... reasons :P
Outstanding job of the teamwork making the dream work! Congrats on a successful ice run!!
i'm honestly amazed that the more complicated linkage held up in that crash, klang be damned! i guess the redundancy of it being a double linkage means anything that would destroy the old linkage would only partly break the new one, and you've got about half as many linkages total so it technically doesn't add to the overall complexity of the vehicle to use them
As someone who works for them, I like to see the Ovlov in the yard :D
The war rig looks good as ever
This episode was really awesome!
THE GRAND ENGINE RIDES AGAIN HAHAH! NEVER SHALL THE RAIL WARRIOR DIE
Edit: the fact the thing did so well makes me think you could maybe add another cargo carriage to it so you get alot more because you mined the ice quickly you would want more storage to get more ice and still get it quick, heck add small storage to the decoys and if they survive use the ice in them
The "turtle" needs contra-rotating mushroom tops for armor
A few decoy/escort rovers lost but otherwise a very successful ice raid. Job well done guys!
It seemed like there were fewer drones deployed this time. If true, any ideas why?
Perhaps, next mission the drills can be deployed from the locomotive control seat, and if the components are available, set an EC to retract the drills when full.
Drill hinge limits set so they skim along the surface as you drive, would allow an earlier start on the retreat, increasing the chances of getting out before the drones get too close, but still able to collect ice on the way out.
I think there were fewer drones because the AI evaluates the Blizzards as more powerful. Since the train was a higher threat score than last time, the AI spawned only Blizzards, which are probably more expensive than the WWTBs.
That went off without a hitch... Well half maybe
Well done!
and now for Splitsie's inevitable betrayal
man, I really wish i had time to join in things like this! but work and stuff.
that fleet rolling all together looked amazing!
Epic, splits,just epic
Maybe build outpost at the ege of the north pole so you can melt any chasing drones and have there second respawn just in case.
Tower defense on route home doesn't sound too bad, at least a checkpoint half way?
We don't have enough ammo to reliably fight off the drones so I think it's best to just keep clear as much as possible :)
going to need a short tutorial on the frosty hitch
Victory raid, that's was great, well done guys ! 👍
This kind of reminds me of that Russian loco-truck (M62+MAZ) fusion...
Should try to build that!
Witnessed!
Amazing Victory! Great Work! :-)
Very important to increase survivality: play Free Bird.
Nice train survive but I feel like there are less enemy today
I guess it was just luck of the draw but also possible that the people moving toward the pole last time caused more enemies to appear more quickly
@@Splitsie yeah true you approach in different direction
The Fury Road remake I didn't know I wanted
Lots of fun!
Will Splitsie again be leading his intrepid team into battle and then promptly leaving them there to die??? Tune in to find out. (although we all know its highly likely.)
Oh hell yeah
If u just add 8 small (if u want 1 in each direction or just upgrade a flyer) hydro thrusters and 3 small tanks to a Jalopy truck or something with a similar size + few benches; its more than enough to get about 8-10 of u out to orbit, with fuel to spare a few more minutes of powered flight. If U R lucky u can find something u can "occupy" that has ion thrusters.
You can get to space with less, but Space Engineers isn't about doing things with as little work as possible, it's about doing it in the most over-engineered way possible - or at least that's how I've always had the most fun with it :)
@@Splitsie I'm aware of that, but unless you find a crashed ship with some salvageable thrusters you guys don't have many other options based on that only a few small-grid small hydrogen have been salvaged (so far).
Nice!
I’d love a tutorial on that hitch design
Babe Wake up! New Splitsie just dropped!! x'D
1:14 Mirror universe Volvo.
EPIC!
I am surpired no one has named Splitise, Flipsieosa, seeing he has a crew of War Boys and a War Rig. Witness Meeeeeeee!
Great video as always! I have a quick question for you. How the heck did you make, in your Scrapyard scenario, large grid prefabs that have small grid builds mag plated to them? Every time I spawn in my large grids the mag plates and small grids aren't there.
By Turtle, do u mean a rover so large that its tall enough to be a 'mushroom' over the little rovers which can scoot or even drive underneath to be under cover?
It would seem that TFT has a very very severe case of flatulance.
Didn't need sleep anyway, new scrapyard survival ep just dropped.
23:00 do the drones home in on vehicles only or people on foot, and in cars?
Would a decoy that drills safe underground and stay behind work good?
Is there anything special about the hinge settings for those "magic hitches"? They look really sweet, I'mma have to try those.
Frosty said there was but it seems to work pretty well with them just free moving
But how much ice did you make it back with?
Is this polar encounter set up in the mod you've made on steam workshop?
The V3 train you should beef it up so make it gigantic so it can take the hits (first test of it should be a shell and test how long it can last befire you.have to leave
@splisie can you make a vid about frosties hitch please
Is it possible to make a recall function on ships so that they return to base by them self?
Basically, yes. You can set up AI blocks to "fly" to a waypoint you establish once they're activated. Presumably an Event Controller could detect whether you're in the cockpit, and if not, activate the navigation blocks.
@@leXie1337_chan I was thinking more a button on base and the new transponder system after you respawn there
have a new idea for a game mode, though i am in no way good at modding at all. it's about hunter and prey where you have checkpoints where you can rebuild or improve ( both hunter and prey ) the prey has a bigger build and you have several smaller hunters. you can try anything like pistons to stop the prey or grinders etc while on the move. kinda like mad max movies
hope someone see this and makes it possible or even improve upon the idea.
45:00 is the Turtle Rover based on the Russian Turtle tank retrofits in the Ukrain war?
Madmax warig but instead war train
How do I join in? 😄
Iam back at the game
61st like
Dig a tunnel about 1.5k outside of the pole perimeter to under the ice and mine ice from underground making sure not to break to the surface. Could have had all the ice you wanted without the trouble
The drones would still spawn, so leaving the tunnel would be difficult, and the heavy drills on the front would make escaping hard.
@@theminerboy5694 right click drill your way there to make a bigger tunnel
Loved the success, but my silly idea was a tunnel bore.
