I myself would say from time to time that the ending made the show a bit "sour" I don't know how many times I would say it ruins something. I do think there are cases where I can totally understand the ending ruining the entire thing, in a case where a lot of the show is more meant on building up to the final moment, so I feel a lot of long running shows are often immune in the fact that there is a whole lot going on than just build up towards it's conclusion but the example where I would understand where someone thinking a show is ruined by the ending is the Higurashi remake (it's a squeal not a remake in any way but people know it as the remake because they advertised it like that at first) The show makes the viewer confused about what's happening and it looks like a terrible remake, it then says surprise it's not a remake and somethings happening to make things go differently, it then backpedals all the events to reflect them in a new perspective and then after a set up of 37 episodes it concludes itself in 2. Honestly maybe the most insulting ending ever, and most of the show is just hyping up the resolution. End of the day I still didn't score it terribly but I can completely understand why someone would. But yeah, I'm okay with it but overall it is generally frustrating to just hear a take of an ending ruining the story if they don't attempt to substantiate their claims (well that applies to any take really). Hey at least I still really like Eva though lol, that ending just confused the heck out of me. But I completely agree when you put it like that, there are definitely exceptions like when all the plot points are interconnected and leading up to a really big climax. It's probably just that I haven't seen many anime like that to be honest Also thanks for the birthday wishes, looks like the stylish victory royale will have to wait till next year lol

I think you are missing the point. If the narrative was a focus on the story then ofc the ending will affect the work overall. That's not even up for debate. Objectivity over subjectivity.
I don't think you understood the video. I never said it didn't take away from the overall quality, my point was that the ending doesn't make the rest of the series complete garbage. Especially when you were praising it before.
