Great work, that oil shot you right in the face 😂 good thing it didn’t get you in the eye, just curious as to why you chose to assemble to shock dry than fill it, I have never done suspension just watched RUclips video of the process and I’ve always seen everyone fill the shock body with oil before putting the bladder and piston in, might make the bleeding process easier? Not sure just asking. I am going to be rebuilding suspension for the first time on my next project, a 2009 kx65. I’ll be doing the forks and the shock. Let me know if you’ve got any tips!

It got me right where it counts 😂 And I agree with you, everything rear shock rebuild video I watched was the same way, except the one I watched for the KYB rear shock on this bike. The one I watched, he assembled it all dry and then added oil in through the compression hole. He didn’t go into detail on why, but I thought it was weird myself. It may have something to do with the piston/ bladder design on this shock, but to be honest I’m not sure… I just followed the video 😂 one major tip I do have for suspension, is getting the right tools, like seal drivers, seal bullets, etc. it makes life so much easier, and pretty much makes ripping a seal on install impossible. There’s a lot of ways to get around the special tools, but the right ones make the jobs so much easier. Also, be prepared for a mess, usually oil gets everywhere 😂
