It was even cooler when you pressed it with the fast cars cheat enabled - for some reason after something like 120mph (can't remember exactly), the cruise control button acts like a super nitrous button, and the car gets stupendously fast to the point where the pitch of the engine goes beyond what the game can cope with and it just mutes itself.
In the files of one of the versions there was found an incomplete 3d car selection menu. It was going to be a smaller underground car park, with the camera moving between parked vehicles. I saw a video somewhere where it's re-enabled and it sort of works but the camera goes mental - I can't find it now.
Was hoping to see the hood camera from the PC version included! Glad that you did, and ofc, the other features are interesting too Though the drowning things feels cursed for some reason O_o
Really love your content! I am a ps1 kid and didnt know about all the differences between the versions. Are the engine sounds of the 17 cars of the pc version the same? Keep up the good work. Always excited when you upload, thank you!
I noticed that San Francisco on PS1 still has the water bouncing effect - your car bounces ever so slightly when on water, even though the water is flat and has no waves like the other cities Also you can drown in Los Angeles too, if you hug the wall at 3:06 you will glitch and be teleported above the water and the drowing animation will play even though you're 10 meters up in the air ALSO the drowing animation actually allows you to skip some missions, as drowning will count as a success for some reason. This is used in speedrunning, especially the President mission. Although you should NEVER do this if you're in the middle of a multi-part mission, before the last part, on an emulator, as this will corrupt the ROM
Why woman? You know male drivers can also do this. I wouldn't be surprised if you're a type a person who think that male drivers never make mistakes. Why do men always hate on all female drivers and wishing that all women aren't legally allowed to drive?
I rather would say the PC version has a better (and greater) selection of cheats, instead of only hightlighting the "Fast Cars" (which, btw, I think is present in the PS1 version), because for example, the "Infinite Mass" one, is pure gold. I would also mention it has a more large selection of driving games. In terms of the interface, it's also good how big the police icons are shown in the minimap. In the PS1 version, even nowadays with emulators and playing it in HD resolutions, you struggle to be able to notice the blurry little triangle when they show up
Looks like the PS1 version's splash textures have the alpha incorrectly set (i.e. their black colour which is used as transparency on the PS1 is not actualy black.) They probably figured they didn't need to fix it after they added walls to the seafront in Miami after the first demo anyway.
Hey Weylmes, fun fact. The cars that are available in PC's take a ride can be played on the PS1 version, but only with Gameshark codes. Heres a video of his thats 16 years old /HwzQ5fcLiEA?si=6zut1mqjpwDUoBiR
Rear view mirror is my favourite thing in PC version. And list of cars in take a ride, of course. Thunderbird and San Francisco, what a great combination. Too bad they didn't port Driver 2. The first game works good on ps1 but the second one is too big and ambitious for a weak ps1 hardware (at the time).
You cant really blame any graphical or any animation downgrade on the PS1 version because it makes sense due to its hardware limitations, even the fast code cheat is unavailable mainly because the ps1 isnt capable of keeping up with the fast forward and memory stream at that rate
First time i played driver was on ps1, and first car looks great. But when i found out that pc has driver too, because first car looks ugly - i didnt even wanted to try it out
I don't why many people turning down the PC version in some ways is superior to the PS1 and in some ways isn't. Yeah PC version doesn't have music and cutscenes (at least my copie) but you can modded it back and also PC version have mods and that's a big plus in my book
So ugly model of 1-st miami car that you driving on PC version and so beautiful on PS1. On PC version I had texture glitches in NY missions of last town....
Cheats are one of best elements that we had in old games and are missing in modern games.
Are you the guy from IGCD?
@@wheeljack210 Yes.
@@Victor_2000s bom trabalho documentando os carros, irmão.
@@wheeljack210 De nada.
Dude games are so easy now that you don't need help cheats, and they're so buggy that you don't need funny cheats.
I always loved this slow red flashing when nearing top speed in Driver on PC. It somehow added to sense of speed.
That cruise control on PC was indeed cool.

Tantos anos depois, não daria para alguem experiente com software e programação e criar novas funções neste jogo?
Nice one, some may thought that such an old and primitive game has nothing left to offer. Yet there are plenty of curiosities!
i love this details that you may not notice it, but adds more living to the scenarios, i specially liked that light effect
Was hoping to see the hood camera from the PC version included!

O_o
The drowning is only accessed when getting out of bounds so it likely unfinished and was never meant to be seen.
@@Comando52Colton Very plausible

Thank you ! And yes the engine sound is the same for all cars.

The car horns matching beautifully with the music @5:51
This fast car cheat looks so cartoonish, love it 😂
2:15 it's not a blinker bug, that's just a *Woman driving her wagon back from the grocery store* 😂
thats even more realistic 😂

Very interesting! Fantastic video as always!
Thank you !
2:15 nahhh, that man saw the police behind him and decided to go straight 😂😂😂😂
Another great video as usual. What I also like about the PC version more, is the skybox during dusk and dawn, it looks really good.
Another benefit of the PC version is 8 bit palletised textures, which give certain textures an animation. Check PC gaming wiki on how to enable them.

I mentioned the "infinite mass" cheat code on a previous video. :)

Mr Weylmes, here is next video idea:
"The Italian job | Ps1 Vs Pc"
I remember playing the ps1 version growing up. Never did bother with story mode, just take a ride. Jesus loves you!
Great video!

Well, the map looks better too.
why i'm whatching this youtube?
Well because Driver is still a pretty good game :)
the only thing i didnt like about the pc version is its abscence of chase music the PS1 version Had
this is because i prefer the pc version...
Pc rtx on vs ps1 rtx off
Whut

I'm sorry but the pc real time iluminations just look bad, I prefer much more the ps1 sprite based head lights
Nights seems too bright in PC version
You can adjust the brightness in the game options. :)
