It is not biographical as Su was still only 14 when they recorded the song in 2012, but they could relate to it - they were already playing at metal concerts by the time they were 15, not just going to their first one. Legend 1997 was the title of the concert on 21st December 2013, the day after Su-metal's 16th birthday (she was born in 1997). Yui and Moa are 18 months younger, so they were still only 14 ... and if you give two 14 year old girls smoke cannons you know they're going to have fun. The Kami Band in this one were Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Leda Cygnus on guitars, BOH with his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. This song was one of their earliest hits. I was thrilled when they brought it back for the 2019 tour, and I finally got to hear it live at the LA Forum. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl taking the train to see her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the studio version was recorded. This performance is from the Legend "1997" concert (December 21st, 2013), named for Su-metal's year of birth. She turned 16 the day before this show. The venue was Makuhari Messe, a convention center outside Tokyo. BABYMETAL perform there quite often. This was a relatively early show, with an audience of around 9,000. Incredible reaction!!!! They definitely caught lightning in a bottle with this crazy combination of talented young ladies and this amazing band. I love them all, but Su is the glue that holds this together and makes it work. She is so rock steady and has to give the other girls so much confidence. A once in a lifetime talent.
I had the pleasure of seeing them in Orlando last year and it was the best concert I have ever been too. It was worth the drive and hopefully they will come to Florida again soon.

I've been listening to this song for 8 years, and I still can't get enough of it because of the nerve-wracking, drama-like structure in every detail. Their regular live shows are actually short, a little over an hour, which makes sense considering the amount of exercise they put into their dancing. In the early days, they said that every time they performed, they would be as exhausted as if they had run a full marathon. When they showed the crowd did you notice even Pikachu was there having fun? Not bad for a 16 year old (she turned 16 the day before) and two 14 year olds. I didn't see anyone else say this, but the song is basically about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal councert. !5 is a monumental age in japan, as they are now considered adults. so the girl basically saying goodbye to her childhood (if i recall the lore properly). This concert was on 21 Dec 2013, Su's birthday is 20 Dec. She turned 16!! Yui and Moa are 14. This concert is also the coming out of Babymetal as an stand alone band, independent from Sakura Gakuin. Introducing the Kami band, ending the use of Babybones and music backing tracks. Yui and Moa would continue as members of Sakura Gakuin, Moa was president and Yui was chair of dance, graduating when they became 15. Pretty the same thing with "Megitsune" (pronounced Mea-get-su-nea) Legend of 1997. Which I think is better with the use or traditional shamisen. More of Japanese feel to it. Su has the best death stare going.

They're cute yet a little sinister, their coordination is fantastic and lead and support vocals perfect. Their confidence is incredible. I'm not a young man yet I get teary eyed sometimes. The concept of Babymetal was very strange and unusual. For this to work, it had to be implemented at a very high quality level. And they set the bar very high from the very beginning. It was one of the first major concerts. And each of their concerts will be so energetic, for 10 years. Over the years they have performed over 300 times.

Yep, this particular performance is absolutely amazing in terms of crowd control. I've watched it an insane number of times and I have to say that I enjoy it every time like the first. Not to mention their energy, the perfection on the choreo and the Kami Band... Am I missing something? Yeahh, Su-metal's legendary death stare owning the stage and the freaking venue the day after her 16th birthday :)

When they showed the crowd did you notice even Pikachu was there having fun? Not bad for a 16 year old (she turned 16 the day before) and two 14 year olds. I didn't see anyone else say this, but the song is basically about a 15 year old girl going to her first metal councert. !5 is a monumental age in japan, as they are now considered adults. so the girl basically saying goodbye to her childhood (if i recall the lore properly). Also when Su climbs the steps, you can briefly see the bassist Boh, has happy birthday on the side of his head

In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 05:24 and 06:24. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!" (addressed to crybabies in the metal concert). This crowd's shout in Japanese occurs wherever BM goes on this planet and whenever Su-Metal turns her mic towards audiences. Of course it did in 2019 US tour (20 gigs) and 2020 EU/UK/Russia tour (17 gigs). Last year 2021, eight years after this video, BM played this song in all of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN Concerts with Su's matured voice and Moa's more agitating moves. I witnessed it 9 times at the venue and was enchanted to headbang 9 times ヽ(^o^)丿

I don't have scientific proof, but Babymetal fans are happier on average than other people. I'm certain of it. 🙂
And me as a more pessimistic person , lost all my negative thoughts i had before BM. And additionally i'm an introverted person too, who is honestly scared of metalconcerts. But i will do my best to go to see them live!

While I think it also applies to many other bands, it seems this frequency is higher than I expected. Maybe I'm just bias.

This concert was on 21 Dec 2013, Su's birthday is 20 Dec. She turned 16!! Yui and Moa are 14. This concert is also the coming out of Babymetal as an stand alone band, independent from Sakura Gakuin. Introducing the Kami band, ending the use of Babybones and music backing tracks.
Yui and Moa would continue as members of Sakura Gakuin, Moa was president and Yui was chair of dance, graduating when they became 15.

Your comments say everything I feel. The songs are powerful and brilliantly played, the concept of 3 girls fronting this kind of music is genius. They're cute yet a little sinister, their coordination is fantastic and lead and support vocals perfect. Their confidence is incredible. I'm not a young man yet I get teary eyed sometimes. The whole spectacle, the sound and the energy completely overwhelm the senses and emotions. The crowd participation is incredible. I hope crowds in other countries know them well enough to play their part.
