Thank you for the clarification [albeit still not understanding WHY this is the case.] Which measurement would be closer to the value if you used the [mathematical] formula, I wonder??.... WEIRD THOUGH!
If you lay them out in a circle, and draw a circle where it hits the skin (in that second bracelet, for example), that would be the actual size. The central thread would make a larger circle because it has to be far enough out to make room for the beads. The clunkier the beads on the central strand, the bigger the difference will be between the two measurements.
Try it! String a bunch of oh, small alphabet beads and a bunch of really bulky alphabet beads, and then compare.
thanks for answering onafixedincome. A mathematical formula wouldnt help because it would need to be written for every different bead you use.. or combinations of beads. Best just to do the inner measurement.
