It's Thanksgiving time and this is the only kind of turkey you need! This smoked turkey is delicious, juicy, and incredibly simple. We're making a homemade brine and using a sweet rub resulting in one of the tastiest things I've made on the channel yet!

Thank you my friend! Happy Thanksgiving!!
I know I am a little late but I just smoked my first turkey following this method but used just Montreal Chicken seasoning and it was fantastic. Thank you
That’s awesome! Glad it turned out great!
Nailed it! Happy thanks giving🤙🏼
Thanks so much! You too!
The Pitboss lockhart grill is so under advertised on youtube , having said that I hope your still using it and making more videos with it !!
I need to give it a good cleaning next week but yes - I absolutely love it!
I like watching others using this grill , I also have one
That was an incredible looking turkey my brother. Very nice cook on that. Enjoying your content right now. New subscriber to your channel as of now! Keep that smoke rolling brother.
Thank you!
Thanksgiving can’t come soon enough. I’m gonna try a practice run next week just for fun!
It’s the best! Thanks for watching!
I know this is a year old, but what kind of fridge do you have that fits a 5 gallon bucket? You must not have as many leftovers as I do LOL. Also, I saved this in my watch later list because that looks delicious. I plan to smoke one this year and I'm going to do it like this. Thank you for taking the time to document your process.
Absolutely! I actually used a mini-fridge with all the shelves removed. It worked perfectly. Thanks so much for watching and if you remember, come back here after you make it and let me know how it turns out for you!
what if your frig is not big enough
This time of year, I could just leave it outside overnight because it’s chilly enough. Alternatively putting it in a cooler with ice also works.
What's the final internal temperature?
165°F!
Where did You get the smoke stick from?
You can pick up a smoke tube at your local Lowe’s or on the Pit Boss website. Thanks!
Do you use a flame tamer on your platinum lockhart?
I do, but sporadically. Only when needed which isn’t often.
I recently received my grill and used it to smoke our turkey. So far I give the grill a C grade. I usually use a stack smoker so that is what I am comparing the Pit Boss against. The turkey was a 25 pounder. I didn't find the temperature probes to be very accurate. One in the dark and one in the breast. One showed really high and the other not so high. Probably user error. This turkey didn't have anywhere near the smokie flavor as my stack grill but it did cook the turkey faster. Not sure if that was a good thing. I have used it to smoke some ribs and chicken quarters. Again I give it a C rating. Not really smokie. And yes I primed the thing several times. I my opinion my $90 stack smoker does a better job that this $750 grill.
The Lockhart is known for not producing quite the level of smoke as some of the other Pit Boss models. So typically I use a smoke tube to give more flavor which is what I did on this one. The temp probes seem to work well for me though so you may want to contact them to see about a new control board. But hey if your stack smoker does the trick I wouldn’t reinvent the wheel - as long as the smoke keeps rolling you’re good!
What temp did you smoke this turkey at
Smoked at 275 degrees F!
It only took 3 hours to cook a 15 pound turkey??? I’m going to attempt to smoke my first turkey for thanksgiving this year and the cook time is stressing me out! Lol I need to have it done around 4pm and if I start in the morning and it only takes 3 hours I’m a dead man lol
All depends on the temp! Follow this method and you won’t be sorry. Thanks for watching!
I smoked on last week at 300°, it only took about 3 to 3 1/2 hours to cook.
its cool if you own a resterant but we are reg peeps
Ohfor sure!
