The great Mansa Musa was the most iconic king of the Mali Empire. Considered to be one of the richest men ever, Mansa Musa is not only the right answer to a commonly asked trivia question but also one of the inspirations behind Marvel’s Black Panther. Although the other kings who reigned over Timbuktu may not be known quite as well as Mansa Musa, their lives have also inspired stories we are quite familiar with today.

I heard older Black people use to say i will knock you back to Tibuktu, but didn't know it was in Africa. Wonder did they know.
“Back to Timbuktu” you answered your own question Jack
This video has so many errors I don’t know where to start…
1. Morocco did not hold Timbuktu by the Time of the French Invasion; Timbuktu was held by Tidjaniya Caliphate during the French Invasion and the Bambara Empire prior to that
2. Whilst the Original founders are Tuareg, The largest Ethnic Group is Songhay; Tuaregs were largely assimilated or expelled from the Region or Left to the North under numerous successive kingdoms
3. NEARLY 100% of your images of Timbuktu or The Djingareyber Mosque is of an entirely different mosque….
You posted the Great Mosque of Djennè more in a video about Timbuktu than Timbuktu itself…
4. The 1990 Tuareg Rebellion wasn’t seated at Timbuktu but in Gao; The modern Separatist are seated in Kidal
Just some of the millions of glaring errors with this video
Where would you say is a good source to learn about Timbuktu and Mali.
@@Ma1q444 I would suggest reading:
The Meanings of Timbuktu by Shamil Jeppie and Timbuktu Chronicles by Christopher Wise & Hala Abu Taleb
To get a baseline understanding of both
@@deshawnmoore1731 thanks
I have been there. You better know how you are getting home. It is very sad what has happened in the last 5 years in Mali.
Interesting. I like randomly scrolling over earth on Google earth, and just happened across this. It was very captivating! In the middle of nowhere, sizeable city, and very clearly had some history.
You had me confused from the beginning. "Sorta like an ancient New York City" .....in that it's nothing like New York City. Then using a reference that made sense "A Mecca" only made the first comparison make less sense.
You keep showing the mosque of DeJenne, and not Timbuktu.
Africa during its Islamic Age
vs.
African during its Christian Age
The Christians ruined everything everywhere!
so fantastic ♥️
"the halls of history"..What does that mean?
All were Moors , there's different types of Moors
There is no berebers thats a Roman name you ignore pre Islamic tribes of people who do to the desert pushed inward Africa these tribes exist in west Africa now and are not arabs but they were black just like those black people on the ancient rock art before any arabs
Nobody is claiming Berbers means Arabs.
Berbers are not Arabs, so they would descend from an Arab population
As soon as you said BCE I turned off your video for spreading propaganda
What propaganda?
@@psycho9815 BCE is the non religious way of saying BC, this person is claiming that using a non religious terminology to refer to the date is atheist or similar propaganda.
@@adamkerman475it is still the same years as BC, meaning it has the same religious origin, therefore it is useless and silly to use instead of BC
@@andylutz3505 it disconnects the terminology from religious texts but I agree that it’s silly to continue using the same years.
All were Moors , there's different types of Moors
Nuh uh
Timbuktu was sacked by moors in 1591
@mahdimehdi445 Yes, they were dissatisfied with each other . MOORS WAS FIGHTING MOORS , IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. ,
REMEMBER THE MOORS HAD JURISDICTION OF THE MAGHREB ( Moorish territory) all the way to the Americas ( The ALL MAGHREB) the farthest West !
From Libya to the Americas was Moorish territory..
Libya, Algeria, Tuina, Morocco, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania, Niger , North South, and Central America is Moorish territory, under the Moorish Empire !
Not counting Spain. Portugal, and Southern France! ( The Iberia Peninsula )
And other territory! The Moors had the largest Empire in the world . 🌎
You didn't know that the Americas was once connected to Africa ( so-called Africa ) it was one landmass , but it wasn't called Africa, the First True and Divine for the whole continent Amexem
( lands of the GODS , land of the Holy people..
As I've said before, there are many types of Moors . Moorish is a civilization.
Moor means Lord ( Amazighs, Imazighens) mean [ born of Noble and Royal birth !]
@@mahdimehdi445 Moors has always fought one another !
