I LOVE LOVE the Snark! Been using one since college they last a long time for me.
Too many to choose from. That is why I quit tuning my guitar...lol
-John Frusciante
Snarks are great, inexpensive tuners... no doubt, for electric and acoustic guitars. The problem w/Snarks are that they are a bit fragile and when I play the harmonic on the high E string at the 12th fret it always reads "A". The main reason I prefer the KLIQ is that it has a dedicated mode for Bass Guitars. Being a Bassist I can say the Snark has a problem with basses while the KLIQ has a more massive clip and bass mode function, it is better suited for my needs. Thanks.
Great point. I am really impressed with most of the KLIQ gear out right now. I's a huge fan of the padded straps they are making.
That's a feature that I'm after
The Kliq Uber Tuner looks like the best.
Yep. It's a beast
This review was way more in depth than I needed. But it’s much appreciated.
Glad it helped. 👍
Lots of good information. I was surprised in a such a long video that accuracy was never tested and discussed.
They just wanna upload long content without the main context
Sure has changed from the old days when I picked the up guitar 50 years ago. Give me an E and I tuned everything else. After a 45 year absence and I pick up the old guitar and forgot how to tune, these new fangled things might be helpful!
The big problem for me and Clip on. tuners are those swiveling/Gooseneck mounts on the clip or the clip itself. Snark's ball mounted gooseneck breaks at the point where the ball of the gooseneck meets the clip on mount, for me this swivel mount usually lasts about a week before one of the tabs that encloses the ball of the gooseneck breaks off, rendering the tuner useless. Other swivel mounts for other brands have proven too fragile for me as well. I am going to try D'Addario's micro tuner with it's ratcheting clip on clamp to see if it is more sturdy. I get it that I will have to move the instrument to make the display more visible rather than swivel the mount arm. Those swiveling mounts and goosenecks are just way too fragile. If I can't keep the assembly together the various and different swiveling features render the tuner itself useless. I hope that D;Addario's clamp mount will work out for me, it seems like I should be able to find a place on the headstock where it will be visible to me. Wish me luck, the price of the tuners is low enough that function is really the only feature that matters. What good is the tuner if the mount fails? I try to be gentle with my instruments, but this point of failure seems to appear altogether too often, and always makes itself known at the worst possible time.
Thank you for this. This really helped me decide which tuner to pick and buy :D
Which one did you go with???
@@bsideguitar Da' snark seemed to fit most of my needs.
Which one is the better choice: Fender FCT-2 Professional Vs Fender Flash Lite Clip-On Tuner Guitar Bass clip on tuner? or D'Addario Nexus 360...
I can’t believe . Accuracy man. Didn’t even mention it . 😂😜🤔
I think it is assumed all of them are accurate
you also compared the price of the Snark to online buying as opposed to picking it up in a local outlet.. .. you did not explain however that buying the ns tuner online is way cheaper than buying those locally... did you neglect this?...
I won't have one of those clunky 'tuner tumours' hanging off my headstock onstage. The best ones - for me - are the D'addario/PW micro tuners that actually screw onto the back of the headstock, making it both secure and all but invisible. I have those on all my guitars.
It would have been better with you explaining how to use them and demoing side by side. You did not show the extra features you said the Uber had. I too know their is another model of the Snark that seems to be a better read out when it is in tune that may be good for indentation. Still puzzled after watching your review. One might be better to save their money and use their smart phone with a guitar app.
I see you had a problem with the clip of the D'Addario micro not holding tight on your headstock. There's plenty of ways to cure that problem if you have it. But notice that the piece that clamps down is angled so it acts like a spring as you ratchet it down. But if it's still lose, you can put a spacer such as a piece of tape, etc., under it. Some people remove the bracket altogether and grind off the little nub that the bracket slips onto and then use 3M double-sided tape to stick it semi-permanently to the head. Another option is to get the version that screws onto one of the guitars tuners. Also, you seemed to think the micro was a little deficient in the possible viewing angles. I think you'll find with a little experimentation that that's really not an issue.
I just purchased Peterson Stroboclip HD (Jan 2020) and did a side-by-side comparison with my older Snark SN-8. My Snark was Brighter, Easier to Read, Tuned just as Accurate & Held the Display Longer - (without having to re-pluck the strings). I wanted to love this product, but was very Disappointed & UnImpressed.
you do realize the ns tuner.. swivels 350 degrees correct.?. I think you should have showed that feature....
Hello i just bought a clip on tuner and i had to put the small battery. When i opened the small slot there was a plastic piece. I removed it to put the battery but i soon realised that i was not supposed to do that. When i turned the tuner on after putting the battery It's not turning on. Is it because i removed the small plastic piece? What do it do to fix it?
that's perfect - thank you!
Glad it helped!!!
My snark tuner broke off at the stem, going with another brand.
I looked at my Snark tuner wrong and it broke
I had a Snark but, it broke super easy. I use the Kliq Ubertuner with my basses and the D'addario NS Universal Clip (the one with the clamp not the clip) with my acoustic guitar.
Shop in your LOCAL music shop, NOT AMAZON!
I don't have a local shop unfortunately.
17 minutes of ? How about a simple, which one tunes better? AKA accuracy
you neglected to show the KORG pitch clip tuner which is somewhere in size between the D'addario one and the others... or the Artisan AT83W tuner... the KORG Chromatic AW-2G......and lastly tje FineFuriLT-23 Minic Clip Chromatic tuner...these are all smaller than the SNARK...
I'm still not clear what the difference is between the 15 different models Snark has.
also did you know that by now.. the ns-tuner is available in the clip free version.. that screws into one of the tuners on the guitar neck?..
The Peterson clip on kills them all.
I love the snark. I have like 6 of them. They are like $12 in Amazon right now
They are great especially when you can get them for that kind of price. Thanks for the heads up!
@@bsideguitar Those SNARK bastards break so damn easily.
Will they add sustain?
NO
I had the Planet Waves. I could not stand it because it was a real hassle to press two buttons to turn it on or off, and it was a really tight clip-on, and the display is smaller than others.
They're all made in China, so the quality is going to be hit-or-miss. The plastic clip on my sound hole D'Addario tuner broke the instant I put it on my guitar. Piece of shit went into the bin.
Awesome! Thanks for taking the time!
Can you use them to tune on the 12th fret as well?
Yes! Assuming for intonation. If so make sure you use harmonics at the 12th :)
@@bsideguitar Thank you...
👍
@@bsideguitar what do you mean “use harmonics”??
and as far as the UBER tuner goes.. you neglected to mention the fact that most people do not wish to switch the tuner from one guitar to the next... Yes it may be worth the 23.95.. but what about for a guy like mew that wants to keep a tuner on each guitar they own at the same time?.. I have about 60 guitars... the Uber.. would cost me roughly 660.00 nore to do that as opposed to the ns-tuner.......do You actually use tuners much?.. because I get the impression that for someone who is doing a demo video.. you have left a lot of common questions unanswered..
I have the snark because you can find notes on fretboard.
huhh>>??
@@surfwolf3 Snark tuner
The snarks don't last me long. I just ordered the diadario hope it holds up better.
I just clamp the snark on my nose and if it breaks, I just whistle and take a guess,
Why so much talk... Just get on with it dude
Snark breaks easily. Broke 2 before I bought the Kliq. Never have a problem with it. Also only paid $23 on Reverb.
Not if you get the snark Hertz-1...white one.....clip is excellant. It's made differently and does not break.
Ya but how much. Kliq hasn't changed price yet. I got the Kliq mini for my board.
I totally agree the SNARK a good product, EXCEPT.. if the people at SNARK would listen to us frustrated musicians about the fragile design flaw instead of forcing us to keep replacing it after that stupid mounting arm failure. I have a box full of broken SNARK parts that make it useless to me and I'm sure others too. They seem to be on the right track on a few currant versions, but would love to see it across the board on all future models. Make it standard, Mr. SNARK. You will certainly keep customers easily.
@@cugir321 Have to reply again. Another 2 yrs later and I lost my Kliq at the beach. So bought another 1 and this is a new quick run of the white model. Still same price but now everything is taxed on internet so $25 not $23. But with everything being more expensive these days Kliq never changed the price. Just a little help from Uncle Sam for price hike. Whoever finds my old 1 has the best tuner on the market IMHO.
I am surprised you didn't compare with a TimbreGear in the lineup.
Interesting. That one looks like an OEM copy of the Kilq... I may have to try it and see if it the same manufacturer or just a copy. Thanks for the heads up.
@@bsideguitar I would be interested in your findings. Thank you.
Thanks for the review. Content could have been presented in 10 minutes, just sayin ...
I would chose the most accurate one! Oh wait, still don't know which one that is!
Most of these are accurate “enough”.. I mean they are clip on tuners 🤷♂️ if you want super accurate go for a pederson strobe. These serve a purpose and just based on how they work they will be inherently close but not perfect
the Kliq
I use a Korg Hammer
And if you are getting that kind of movement out of the D'addario tuner.. you aren't squeezing it hard enough.... don't worry You won't crack the wood..by squeezing that tuner on harder.... and it will Not leave an imprint on your head stock.. You can't be afraid of it..... you are way bigger than the tuner is I'm sure you would win any fight..those teeth are micro teeth.. so.. they are like a millimeter apart.. one good squeeze will tighten that down.. I cant even knock mine off if I wanted to....
Do any of these tuners have an auto-off feature to save battery life? What is expected battery life on these tuners?
The epic fail of the NS tuner is how the heck are you supposed to position it so you can read the display? Can you actually view it while playing guitar???
Most importantly, did you test these for accuracy and consistency? I have experienced pitch deviations when band members use different tuners (and the arguments that ensue...LOL.)
D'addario and snark turn off after 5 minutes. Not sure about the other one though
I ended up throwing my Snark tuner in the garbage because after 2 months, the screen would default to an F note that i could not get rid of until I pulled the battery out and put it back in. Even when I put brand new fresh battery 🔋 in it, it still malfunctioned! To be truthful, it took a hammer 🔨 to that piece of shit then I threw it away. I’ll never buy one of those again!!!
boss TU-10 just saying check
TOO MUCH TALK
I like the snark. I own 7
Maybe a simple rubber band might remedy that problem.
I personally wouldn't use any of them at a gig. I'd just click the button on the boss tuner on my pedal board. Easy simple and quick. Just sayin'.
I mainly see them on acoustics at gigs, if you have a pedal board the on floor tuner is a better option normally 👍
Are clip on tuners not reliable for a live show/gig (for electric guitar)??
Right cause everyone has the same rig as you 👍
You drag your pedal board everywhere with you ,have a non electric acoustic?
It seem like they all suck for my bass
Duh dah rio= D’Addario, trust me, I’m from Italy
I got the Daddario,it broke as I was taking out of the package, it's a POS.
Your Guitar is out of tune mate...
Good video. Thanks
I just busted a Snark dropping it on shag carpet; I'm gonna buy a Micro. Fuck Snark. The Micro is strobe tuner accurate; some other guy posted a video about it: ruclips.net/video/N5kaYh0q_tQ/видео.html
Sorry, couldn't finish the video. Did talks to much.... It's a tuner!
He really does talk a lot 😂 newer videos are much better 😉
👍🇺🇸
Size matters always, I'm snarky about that 😎
never buy another snark. PIECE OF CRAP
My Snark was also a piece of shit.
Non of these work well in bright sunshine. Good luck during an afternoon or evening session.
