it's because it's nostalgic and simple. Actually in my opinion you can do more creatively with restrictions, which is why classic avatars just feel cooler. You have to think outside the box on how to make it look unique, that's almost an artform within itself

As another fellow 2016er I don't have much to talk about other than the fact these avatars look a lot something I would see on the cover of Catalog Heaven so I perceive em as hella accurate!! All of these have a certain vibe to them and it hit me when you mentioned your opinion on the ":]" & ":D" faces because I didn't expect others to feel a specific/"stereotypical" stigma to some accessories! Great video!
Listen. I'm not much of a Roblox "OG" as I joined the platform mid 2017, but I just LOVE the fun and colorful style of these old avatars, and games! They have so much character to them!
Interesting video, I agree with most of your points. I joined in January 2012 and I remember the prominent styles being: 1. The skater/streetwear type with DC clothes, monster energy stuff, the sk8r boi hats, shaggy, etc. 2. The scene/emo style with the clothes primarily by Shaddic, neon clothes, Domo shirts, Beautiful Hair for Beautiful People, Auburn Scene Hair, hair combos, shutter shades, etc. 3. The swagbro style. 2.0 package, TBK and Adidas clothes. False hair extensions (aka where the hair was just drawn on the shirt) were popular with girls in this style. Funny thing is, even back in 2012 people were saying modern ROBLOX sucked and trying to dress classic. Now people are still saying modern ROBLOX sucks but going after that 2012 drip lol!
The most impressing is that "old" stuff created by roblox or the commuinity (like hats or skins) were actually beautiful and classic, and free, today everything costs robux
Just wanted to add onto 8:44, shirt templates are still stored this way, but you'll have to subtract from the ID multiple times until you find the template, and go back + subtract again if you come across any places. With how big the site has become, so many assets are being made at once that the template gets a little bit lost among the sea of things being made at once. But with patience, finding stuff past ~2015 or so is still possible!

Back then there were also more Packages that you could buy back then but we’re removed. I don’t know when they were removed but I’m betting some disappeared when rthro came out. The only package I can remember that was removed was the Don’t Tase Me Bro! package.
Both my accounts are form 2012. My first one which was my main one until 2019 (nearly entering 2020) that account my hacked so I switched to the backup I made all that time ago as well. The two were only 2 months apart. I had a lot of old Roblox items on that one( lots of limited to) but on my now main I recreated a ‘2016’ theme using more Morden items. It made a lot of people happy to see.
This is so true lol. I joined 2011 and when I play games like "flex your account age" I see a lot of accounts that were obviously purchased because they are wearing lost egg and bodycolors only, instead of the regular stupid stuff that people actually had back then.
Honestly I can't wait for 10-15 years down the line when we're all watching videos about the greatest ugc creators that shaped Roblox culture and how to find the best "classic ugc"
You missed a package that has gray on it for clothes. Lord Jahfyre the Grim has a small area on the arms and legs for putting custom clothes. It was also released in 2010.
Watching these videos brings me lots of nostalgia. I miss my old accounts sad they’re gone. I remember when packages first came out a little after I joined early 2010, the robloxian 2.0. Had a lot of rare items when they came out. Epic face, valkryae, had the old ambassador badge. Roblox has changed a lot it’s nice to see the new generation enjoying it like we did. The game was my childhood I’m sure it shaped my life in someway
i usually tend to like the simple avatars sorta like classic but with a bit of extra spicy stuff although its not classic, still kinda makes it a bit nice (example: white head and hands, black torso and pants, a cutlass waist, the pirate hat (the classic one mostly) a belt waist and lastly any pirate-ish face
When I played since 2010 I constantly updated my avatar to match with the times. Now I wear a 2011 visor and the official bloxxer t-shirt with basic, darker colours out of protest for the gradual art style degradation :>
my favorite era was 2017, superhero package, ninja animation, adidas everything, fire and water mix, beautiful hair for beautiful boys, panda mask, sword pack, boombox.
I remember discovering using a black ninja hood with the black eye mask with the =) face you could make your head color your eyes from a HEROBRINE account using it to make the eyes pure white. My avatar has had it since then to this day
One of the biggest problems with making classic styled roblox characters is that you can’t use things like the pea brain head. the reason these were put off sale I don’t think anyone knows. it didn’t make sense then, and it doesn’t make sense now. Maybe it was because rthro?
I joined roblox in like uhhh 2016 and then I found out about classic avatars I loved it but I keep losing my old roblox accounts so I have to make new ones and that breaks the fun.
0:37 the R15 complaint is valid but in a lot of cases it can’t be avoided. Roblox Studio forces R15 in new games by default, rather than letting the player choose, so most games do not allow R6 and will upgrade you to R15
listen friends this guide HELPS you make a classic avatar but in reality having expensive items or study avatars isn't the way to go. most people back in 2015 and 2016 had the really basic avatars like the free stuff. The real key i'd say to making a classic avatar is just being creative with it, put on a t-shirt or wear some funny hats it's whatever : )
15:00 I feel called out. For context, I bought this hat (left) because I was very poor and wanted to save robux. I was going for a white & black suited avatar, and UGC was out for about a year then. Anyways, I wasn't trying to go for the classic style, so can I get a pass?
Oh man this brings me back, i remember going through dozens of pages of Jeff Hardy shirt and sleeves to find that one colour of them i wanted for my character 🤣
I actually like to do a whole pseudo 2012-15 era look when it comes to older-styled fits, since there's more options available (it's also more characterized by the scene/skater look popular then). The shirts/pants choice would be more to aesthetically match the time period rather than finding old clothing outright (this is more the case for cosplays of media that existed in this era), but I would still stick to R6 and three accessories maximum since those restrictions were present.
As a 2016 player, I’m very good at capturing avatars from that time, but it is slightly harder for times before that. Luckily I’ve studied some old avatars and created one, I use the awsome jacket (worn by telamon in the 2009 trailer), Jeans (worn by Builderman), and the classic astronaut helmet, with some classic skin tones, I’m still working on the face though
I heard about how newer players try to look Classic, but something crazy is that I actually am a Classic/Veteran player who actually enjoys dressing Classic.
I recently found my old account from 2017, and I feel like 8 year old me nailed the transition from 2013 to 2016. Like I have the boy body and a helmet, and thats it. And a classic t shirt, along with the silly fun face
I think a popular aspect of classic avatars is when you have a specific hat/item and you literally have shirts and pants that like match the theme, i have a pants and shirt just to match my halloween 2011 paintball mask!
My biggest gripe is finding old clothing. When searching for key terms, the page is flooded with the same ctrl c+v as it has been for years already.
Again, I would check out the inventories of some old profiles! You can find a bunch of them by looking through Froast's forum archive

Ye ikr
I normally check back on my old computer, with my old account. I know I’m sounding like the main comment but ye, still do. Still extremely hard to play on it so I just sort of leave it like that.
I joined in 2019 but my old Roblox was still better. I mean tell me you prefer back when all we knew was work at a pizza place. Didn’t you like it whenever everyone was so simple didn’t you?
I joined in 2017...
I was following along with this video while making an avatar with a budget of 47 robux and random items I own.
The end result is honestly pretty good. Thanks for the advice :D !!!
I joined in January 2012 and I remember the prominent styles being:
But with patience, finding stuff past ~2015 or so is still possible!
i cannot be trusted with this info 😅
so glad this video blew up and ur youtube career is finally taking off at long last
I find it ironic that the avatars have gotten less unique now that we have more options than back then

I wasn't even here for the classic era (played as a guest in 2017, made first account in 2018, made current in 2019, so yeah, pretty old but not THAT old), and I don't want to pretend I was, but I just love how the classic avatars looked. This helped a lot, thanks.
In the end, just make an avatar that fits you most
2:20 someone call the fire department cuz this fit is fire 🔥🔥💯💯
the mystery city clothes are great for classic avatars imo. cheap, stylish, and has great synergy
15:08 that one in the middle is between classic and now, they have a shaggy thats been unavailable since 2016

This is an incredibly well explained and well thought out video, and thanks to this video I’ve been able to make a more accurate classic-styled avatar!
I’m not going to lie this guy is one of my favorite RUclipsrs ever. He has such cool content in my opinion. I’m just so sad he is so underrated. I really like how his videos are 30 minutes usually because I get to watch for such a long time.
This is SO helpful! Thank you!!! I've been wanting to make classic avatars for a long time, but I couldn't find a detailed tutorial like this one.
Koishi!!
@@marichaxitpot koosh, indeed.
I’m not a classic player (only been on Roblox since 2016), but I love learning more about the sites past and this vid was great! Now I’ll be ready if I ever wanna hit up The Boys and Girls Dance Club with some real old fashioned drip
16 is kinda the last year of ROBLOX not being modern.
But have fun pulling up to games with some classic fashion.
ive been on the platform since 2016 also, weird to think that it has been 8 years.
Started playing roblox when I was 6 years old back in 2016, now I'm almost thirteen.
I joined Roblox in 2019 i may not know much about classic avatars but I sure do love them thanks for this tutorial l this helped a lot.
I started playing roblox in 2012 and seeing this video was nice, reliving a nostalgia of the old styles, i like them and use them sometimes.
a nice way to stylize your look is to find the old clothing creators like armitroner or Shaddic
omg yes thanks for this! i remember shaddic i used to own his stuff, also vendettathegreat
You forgot Keletho too
i wish roblox didnt ever release dynamic heads (no one asked for that and even they are offsaling faces bc of this). Also... why did roblox just offsale whatchoo talkin bout and the goofy looking heads? Literally they are the most perfect heads to style axoz (like perfection head) and other styles. Hope david listens to the community someday but that is never gonna happen..
Fr bro, that sucks
I think dynamic head are cool, but taking faces off sale is bad.
Its gonna be even harder now, with so many old faces going off sale
sorely tempted to go back to my 2013 egghead outfit after watching this, oh man.... those were the days
1:00 Hey, that’s the music used in Game Room 1 (Re-Volt Track Mod)
I just logged on to my Roblox account which I haven’t used in 5+ years, my main skin was waiting there for me, very nostalgic
for the 4:20 ugc section, its really good now because people make WAYYY cheaper head replacements with the new weird head thing
As a classic Roblox player, I can confirm that this is how all Roblox avatars were like around 2006-2013
As a classic player to I approve.
You aren't no classic player you're some pooron that larps
17:30 Can confirm your avatar is cool, everything meshes well, good job
15:58 I've seen that guy somewhere they are a developer of a semi popular roblox game
Honestly I can't wait for 10-15 years down the line when we're all watching videos about the greatest ugc creators that shaped Roblox culture and how to find the best "classic ugc"
I remember I had a sick ass blue ninja fit around like 2010-2012 and I would play mostly a club game and tycoons it was baller
I started seeing roblox in 2012 and finally made an account in 2014, I miss the golden days.
You missed a package that has gray on it for clothes. Lord Jahfyre the Grim has a small area on the arms and legs for putting custom clothes. It was also released in 2010.
watching this and reading the comments as someone with an account from 2007 is an interesting experience
My accounts @zelda763/chqse, @darklink763 @youmario
i usually tend to like the simple avatars sorta like classic but with a bit of extra spicy stuff although its not classic, still kinda makes it a bit nice (example: white head and hands, black torso and pants, a cutlass waist, the pirate hat (the classic one mostly) a belt waist and lastly any pirate-ish face
the real pro gamer move is to actually use the exact avatar you rocked back in the day.
i dont think an obey shirt is rockin it tho
nah bro, my avatar back in the day got me bullied off a tycoon once 😭

When I played since 2010 I constantly updated my avatar to match with the times. Now I wear a 2011 visor and the official bloxxer t-shirt with basic, darker colours out of protest for the gradual art style degradation :>
good
i really liked the un-beveled limbs back then, just squares and rectangles with sharp 90° angles
my favorite era was 2017, superhero package, ninja animation, adidas everything, fire and water mix, beautiful hair for beautiful boys, panda mask, sword pack, boombox.
I remember discovering using a black ninja hood with the black eye mask with the =) face you could make your head color your eyes from a HEROBRINE account using it to make the eyes pure white. My avatar has had it since then to this day
I’m proud to have a classic based avatar & nothing will make me change my mind!
I'm feeling pretty old knowing people need a guide for something that was second nature to me....
Make a tutorial on how to replicate the old roblox shirts designs! I want some custom designs to put on a shirt with a slight modern twist.
neat idea!
What game are you playing in the beginning of the video? 0:01

getting ready for the roblox classic🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's so hard cuz I'm a free guy and was stupid back then so I got none of the free things usually
With my avatar me and my brother go for a 2016-2019 style cuz we joined in the 2017 but we’ve been playing since 2016 as guests
listen friends this guide HELPS you make a classic avatar but in reality having expensive items or study avatars isn't the way to go. most people back in 2015 and 2016 had the really basic avatars like the free stuff. The real key i'd say to making a classic avatar is just being creative with it, put on a t-shirt or wear some funny hats it's whatever : )
17:47 that was a hard line🔥🔥🔥
nobody talking bout that the retro 3d glasses were released on 9/11 😭
Unfunny

I will definitely have to use this knowledge in real life so that i can pull a bunch of blocky girls!!
I really like mixing up classic avatars with like bundles like the OG ones, it turns out pretty cool and a very good combo.
I started playing Roblox in 2010 and 2011. My childhood would never have been the same without it
Si el video estuviera en español me sería más fácil comprender este bello mundo de los avatares clásicos
15:00 I feel called out. For context, I bought this hat (left) because I was very poor and wanted to save robux. I was going for a white & black suited avatar, and UGC was out for about a year then. Anyways, I wasn't trying to go for the classic style, so can I get a pass?
As an It’s Go Time! enthusiast I can indeed confirm it is a classic face.
The shirts/pants choice would be more to aesthetically match the time period rather than finding old clothing outright (this is more the case for cosplays of media that existed in this era), but I would still stick to R6 and three accessories maximum since those restrictions were present.
people here for 2024 classic roblox event

As a 2016 player, I’m very good at capturing avatars from that time, but it is slightly harder for times before that. Luckily I’ve studied some old avatars and created one, I use the awsome jacket (worn by telamon in the 2009 trailer), Jeans (worn by Builderman), and the classic astronaut helmet, with some classic skin tones, I’m still working on the face though
For me my avatar was based on the 2015 - 2016 style of the guests as it was my first experiences playing on roblox
Same man, almost all my avatars look similar to the 2015 era from when I started playing

@@GuestTheRobloxianAmerica 2016 or 2015 were the end of classic ROBLOX, after that it really just went into the ROBLOX we know today.
@@TPSpwned Okay, I agree with that statement. I mostly preferably state 2016 as the last year of ROBLOX being classic ever again.
