I could see this being a good lazy summer day product. One of those days where you just want a little control over your hair but don't really care to lock it down.
Totally!
Shear rivial Northern lights review please?
+1 for a Northern Lights review!
Toy soldiers I was going to suggest that or O’Douds
Both been on my to-do list for a while, planning to buy them soon!
Wondering if you could address the issues other Amazon reviewers found of the product being bootleg or strange?
I've heard a couple instances here or there of people getting bootleg products via Amazon. I've never experienced it myself, but I could certainly see it being a reality. I do usually try to buy my products from reputable sources instead of Amazon most of the time to avoid this being a potential issue, I just took a chance on this one figuring that since it's such a massive brand, and the Amazon seller I got it from said label.m itself, that it would be okay. Judging by what others have mentioned about the breakdown being different, I'm wondering if there has been some quality control issues in the lab that label.m uses or something which have resulted in different batches going out, which is pretty weird for such a large brand. If that's still happening, label.m should really visit their lab and see what's going on.
@@TDMStyle Thanks for the response!
Great in depth analysis as always. And while we’re on the topic of salon brands, I’d love to see you review Kevin Murphy’s Rough Rider; I know it’s been around forever, but it’s a super interesting take on a traditional heavy clay.
Thanks! I actually did cover Rough Rider a few months back - you can see it here: ruclips.net/video/4vLbCUNWeWM/видео.html
What’s a matte paste you highly recommend or overall any product with a matte finish?
I really like Northern Lights matte paste from Shear Revival, the Modern Times matte paste from CCP Labs, or if you want a super strong hold Pre Game by TheSalonGuy (that one starts out with a natural shine though and becomes matte over time).
TDM Style Thanks I’ll definitely check those out. Not sure if you have this problem but I’ve tested a few matte products lately and I kind of notice they still have a little more shine than I would like. I really want something that doesn’t have shine or a dry look if that’s possible kind of hard to explain over a message but yeh.
Im about to buy this or the label m power paste. What do you think?
Hmm I haven't tried the power paste so I'm not really sure what that's all about.
@@TDMStyle it says that it has higher hold but i don't know if i want to Risk it because there are no reviews out there
Well this one is definitely a medium hold, so I guess it depends how strong you want. I'll have to look into trying the power paste one day and reviewing it!
@@TDMStyle can you recommend me some pastes? (not homebred because i don't live in usa or uk and it's hard to find them)
Is it good for thick asian hair ?
It’s a pretty light holding product, so I don’t know if it would hold up very well for that hair type.
I want either a clay or a paste what would be your best 3 products for £30 ( hair styling preferably clay or paste/ hair spray and a pre-styler )
Man, that’s a really tough question! I have so many products that I love haha. Well, for sure my favorite prestyler hands down is the 25 spray from TheSalonGuy. As far as clays and pastes, hmm.. 🤔 For strong hold, I love the Stickmore clay fiber, Pre Game from TheSalonGuy, or Shear Revival Gray Ghost. For more of a medium, softer hold, definitely Fuertes clay, Clutch clay or Shear Revival Northern Lights matte paste. And if you’re looking for a good hair spray, go with Redken 👍🏻
I love the way you described the scent. "Basic bitch salon scent" absolutely nailed it with regards to the scent. Somehow that just perfectly describes it. (Can't say I got axe from it though, thankfully.)
However, that's exactly what I loved about it. The packaging is basic, and in a way the scent is too, but that's what attracts me to it. It's something that seems like I've seen a million times in a million salons, or salon style products, but never really have. Like this is what should be in a salon everywhere, not the other stuff (performance wise, at least, though I thought the typography on the front was attractive too).
I also get what others are saying about emulsifying it. I could sort of do what you did in the video, if it doesn't break into pieces, which it usually does. The best way to describe it to me is like a wet bar soap. If you tried taking a scoop of that and emulsifying it it would break up pretty badly.
Finally, I thought the hold was more towards the firmer side of things, as far as holds go. But come to think of it, I haven't really used it since my hair was pretty short, and it was much easier to control then. Though I've also had times where the hold for a product was completely different than what you experienced for your review, and I wouldn't say it was just hair type differences and application (or misapplication). Like the Fuertes stuff for me was never more than a medium-light hold, and I'd say it geared more towards light if anything. I've been wondering if hair products somehow are never exactly the same between any two batches.
Thanks for this! I could see this being a bit firmer hold if used on shorter hair. That's really interesting about the breakdown - I've heard the same from several others, so I'm wondering if there have been some quality control issues at Label.m's lab or something that has led to very different batches going out. I could definitely see there being slight variations batch-to-batch, especially in home brew settings since I would imagine even slight temperature fluctuations can cause little differences. I feel in a large company like this though that uses a lab, they should have much more consistent results. Curious...
Hey Matt what prestyler have you been using more often, sleek or 25? If you had to choose one, which would you go with? (I have similar hair to yours, but more coarse probably). Keep up the great reviews as always!
Tough call! I love them both and have been alternating them basically. They are quite different, where 25 helps detangle, add volume, and basically act like a leave-in conditioner. Sleek does really amazing at smoothing and de-frizzing, makes my hair feel super soft and is really light weight. If your hair is quite coarse, I’d say give Sleek a try first as it has more smoothing power!
TDM Style cool thanks Matt
What brand are you talking about? Sleek is a product name?
There have been a number of people complaining about quality control on this product. For myself and many others, the product has been impossible to emulsify like you did in the video.
Otherwise I agree with everything you said
Interesting. Sorry to hear you had a tough time with it! I wonder if there was a bad batch or something.
@@TDMStyle it sounds like a friend also owns it had a similar experience. When either of us did manage to emulsify it, it worked well (although after some time it looked greasy in my hair but not his) I think the jar had a poor quality seal causing it to dry out slightly
Yeah had the same problem
Indeed hard to emulsify on my side also. Maybe batches are not consistent. Robin James also did a review where he mentions that decent emulsification kind of takes long to obtain with this product. Interesting to see there might be batches variations...
Been waiting for this review! Btw if you review gatsby moving rubber, you should check out grunge mat (grey), wild shake (purple), or the normal waxes (perfect hold or ultra mat type).
Thanks! I have Wild Shake but I’ll def have to try some of the others too.
Got this one. Spot on review. But the breakdown in your hands is soooo terrible. It takes really 20 seconds to emulsify it in your hands, if your hands are dry. I also failed if there was a little bit of water on my hands. But the smell and hold is good on my, so take your time when applying this product.
What is better Lockhart's matte clay or Lockhart's nevermore
Very different products
They are extremely different from one another so I can’t choose a “better” one.
@@Tsobe so which is better for thick and very straight hair??
@@TDMStyle sir so which is better for thick and very straight hair??
Both would work fine for that hair type. It’s more about what sort of finish and style you’re after. The clay is heavier and has a natural shine, while Nevermore is lighter and very matte. Both have firm hold.
Hai,this label m can mix with argan oil abit?hope u reply thx in advance
Sure can.
@@TDMStyle tq for reply
Maybe you should make a comparison mate.. thankyou.. God bless
Matt, your style seems a bit different this time around, what product did you style your hair with?
Also product revisit would be nice to see again, since we keep developing with our styling the opinions change alot.
I used the Stickmore clay to style for the main speaking bit of this video. And I'm definitely into doing more revisits! Any brands/products in particular you'd like to see? I was thinking some along the lines of Baxter, Stickmore, and maybe some older RUclipsr ones like Ocean Clay or Chaptr.
@@TDMStyle For sure interested in the youtuber ones since they usually generate insane hype around release, a revisit how they have stood their ground against time. Whichever you decide to create I'll be there anyways haha
Your hair red tone is looking better each video Matt!
Thanks Juan!
I have long hair 12 inch on top and 10 inch on top. My hair is kinda thick and wavy. I want to get a messy, flowy surfer like hairstyle. Plz recommend me a product. I don't want the product to be heavy. Light product and medium hold.
I mean honestly this stuff might work okay for that style that you described. However typically for that length, I'd say to go for something more like a grooming cream so it is more lightweight and flowy. Something like TheSalonGuy's Shadow cream pomade might work well for you too.
Will a sea salt spray do the job?
That will definitely give you that flowy surfer-like texture, sure. They don't provide any hold though, so just something to keep in mind.
Can you recommend anything other than shadow, they don't ship to my country
Pls. Make a revew on gk hair shampoo
Hadn't heard of that stuff before. I'll have to look into it.
Have you ever thought about reviewing Pete and Pedro's shampoo and conditioner?
I briefly thought about covering P&P stuff, but the fact that Alpha STILL hasn't admitted that his stuff is white label just bugs me, and I really don't want to give him any of my money tbh
@@TDMStyle lol understandable
TDM Style what is white label??
Bro I just saw your vid on the tmf products and you were rocking that beard I thought you were gonna grow it out..? It was looking pretty dope. But great vid brotha...👌
Thanks! It was growing weird after that point and was just making my face look round, so I decided to trim it back.
Maybe some kind of budget product breakdown for the next video ?
Great man, I’m using this product almost for around 5 months and really it gave me great results. Also a request to please focus on the video editing too 😄, sometimes in the video I felt you went off track and I must say your hair colour looks pretty cool.
Thanks for the feedback! As far as going off track though do you mean what I was saying, or the actual video editing (cuts etc)? Tbh I felt I was a bit more concise in this video than some of my others 😂
TDM Style yeah exactly more concise 😄 but it’s not a big deal..Bro I really admire your videos and I always learn from them, keep going ❤️🖖🏻
what about some Gatsby moving rubber review? :)
Been on my radar for a while 😉
@@TDMStyle nice im currently using the wild shake love it, but may try the multi form soon.., and also keep up the good work, best videos out there!
Thanks man!
Matt reviewing Matt Paste!
Ayyyy
Mr. Pompadour's Natural Beeswax Paste review please :D
Or compare it with this paste!!
Tbh that’s one of the brands I haven’t purchased because neither they nor Alpha/Pete & Pedro will admit that their formulas are white label and identical to one another.
I got to say you look like my physics teacher but with hair
Neat
At least this seems better than that “most masculine” stuff lol
Lmao it certainly is!
Damn... ur hair color is 💣💣💣
Thanks!
Beautuful
Rip the beard 😞
It’s still there lol I just had to trim it shorter. It was growing weird and making my face look really round 😯
Now is better
Lmao 10:01
Like your videos but your red and purple hair looks ridiculous 😂.......
To each their own. I like colors, so...
@@TDMStyle That's cool
Why do you swear in the videos? It just takes away from the quality and is fairly annoying.
Because I want my videos to be real, down to earth and as though we were having a conversation in person. And that’s how I talk in real life. 🤷🏻♂️
O
I think its total useless! Worst product i tried!
Any elaborations?
