They really arent as hard to get into as people like to make it seem. My dad was a banking technician back in the mid-late 90s. Fixed ATMs, registers, card machines, even check processing machines.

Most of the ATM are owned by a vendor not the business or the building
When the business is going out of business he had to contact ATM company to tell them that we don't need any more money for the machine we are closing so right there company that puts the money in the machine will come and get the machine they just don't abandon it because the bank will want their money back

The business usually owns the machine and the money in them. I was told that by the secret service when I contacted them about counterfeit money I received from an ATM
Also if it was a third party machine they may have been locked out when the business shut down.
Do you know most places won't put back written cash bills in a atm cause it can be way to track the money why the first bill writting on. This is fake and i also have someone who works at a bank confirming this

All stores have drop boxes now collecting $20, $50 and $100 bills and our manager threw easily $2400+ in them before closing the store. Over the weekend probably collecting $5,000+! However, I do believe they are routinely collected and brought to the bank. Note (like ATM deposits) they reject anything close to counterfeit.

I used to think this too, until my friend told me that any money that comes from ATM are cleaned or freshly circulated money. So could be real 🤣
I work for an electronic security company with several major banks as clients. I can assure you that this is 100% fake. When ATM machines are decommissioned, the money vendor (Loomis, Guarda, etc.) empties the cassettes just before I disconnect the alarm and camera equipment.
@@mbuzard46 also even if not the bank is Federal property. The money still in plus and computer with everyone credit card information, and pin this seems fake. Every bill is numbered in ATMs. That's how they catch people in certain crimes.

I used to do that on a weekly basis. I worked for a company that refurbished the atms, so I learned to pick the locks by changing the combos. The Scrap yard got some of the failed savings and loans ones. They used the big magnets to pull the doors off and money would go flying everywhere.
2K As apartment manager I would count ~$30K a month so I have a little bit of an advantage .

heres the thing, a lot of times the place where the atm is located doesn't actually own it, they are just rented or leased, so you might have stolen it from the atm company that actually does own it, and maybe wasn't notified that the place closed or went out of business...just fyi
