- Drop your silver in my tambourine
Help a poor man fill his pretty dream
Give me pennies I'll take anything
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine
Watch the jingle jangle start to chime
Reflections of the music that is mine
When you drop a coin you'll hear it sing
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine
[Instrumental break]
Drop a dime before I walk away
Any song you want I'll gladly play
Money feeds my music machine
Now listen while I play
My green tambourine
RIP to both Mikey’s speaking and singing voice actors. May their souls breath well.
How did they die?
@@lewissansbury4784 oh no!
@@christianparrish6647 yeah his speaking voice actor had depression issues and robert goulet is a famous singer who did his singing in the show as a guest star...
Yeah, and Robert died 13 years ago in 2007. He was pretty ill though. Pulmonary fibrosis
What? I didn’t even know he was sick!
We got this on VHS right after it came out and I remember not understanding this scene but liking it for some reason...
Originella I still have it lolll reminds me of the good old days haha
Who does understand it!? 😂😂
Went n see this in theatres alone age 11.
This version of this song kills the original in my mind.
Same here
this was something we didn't ask for BUT we all liked it anyway
A 90's cartoon paying homage to the acidic 60's.....i have no comment.
Underrated
this movie is made and from 2000-2001 i believe so its even odder
Takes me back to the 90s the good times.
Well technically you do
it all just blended together as a kid. I miss it :(
The ending where they all run off to enjoy their summer while the 5th Dimension plays followed by this, it’ll always have a special place in my heart. That frame of them just relaxing by the lake at 2:01 perfectly sums up childhood summers and not having any care in the world. This would have been the perfect ending to the series, instead of that “Taking the 5th Grade” special.
Dude the whole movie is a kids movie masterpiece for me but I still remembering this movie from the “Let the sunshine” and the kids running freely and happily, everytime I see this scene I get chills…
I know that feeling so well
agreed
Yep the early 80's. It was great the summers should be
We don't count that,or their official last appearance on tbe Lilo and stitch cartoon lol
This movie was my go to sleep movie as a child. Makes me remember how easy life was when I hear this song
That song is going to be in my head awhile. RIP Jason Davis (2020), Robert Goulet (2007), the voice and singing voice for Mikey.
Fuckin same
And RIP to Principal Prickly himself, Dabney Coleman (2024).
I was wondering why I like the 60's so much...
Ikr my inner hippie was shining while watching this
Kenshiro Makishoka same here
Awww nostalgic summer in 2001
Yes!!!!
Insert Taliban meme
Before the terror
Welcome to 2020.
Take me back
I can only imagine the audiences' reactions to this...masterpiece! (Yes. School's Out actually played in theaters)
Didn’t think much. I remember seeing this credit sequence a lot since I worked in a theatre at the time.
It was a fun time
Didnt have tome to pay attention to the audience, I was too busy being enthralled by this masterpiece of a film
The parents probably spit out their soda... maybe had some flashbacks to the summer of love
God speed Jason Davis/Mikey Blumberg. You will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
The end of an era with this show and movie. I’ll never forget it.
"Listen while I play my green tambourine."
*1 second later*
*throws tambourine away*
MarioSonic4life never finished a blunt, have u? Hehe
This video brings back many memories from school and as a kid. One thing I remembered was this ending and when they said "we got plenty of time to plan for the future but less time to be kids". I never forgot that makes me wish I could relive those days again school and childhood T.V. shows like this I watched as a kid help me remember those days.
Yep this was the greatest times of childhood and teens
How is it I don't remember shit about the movie yet as soon I as I clocked on this I instantly remembered every bit of it? And I watched the show frequently
That last line is probably why You watched the show frequently. Highly unlikely you watched the same movies frequently so they wouldn't be as easy to remember.
Rest in peace, Dabney Coleman.
A "Where are they now" for the Recess gang:
TJ: After graduating from college, he followed in Prickly's footsteps and became principle of 3rd Street School, he and Spinelli even got married, while the marriage didn't work out they are both committed to raising their twins together.
Vince: After getting a scholarship, he went on to join the NBA, and he and Ashley B engaged but are taking it slow
Gus: After graduating High School, he enrolled in the army like his father. He then went onto becoming a therapist for vets with PTSD.
Mikey: After struggling for a while to become an actor, Mikey got his big break as the Villian for the Senor Fusion movie. At their high school reunion it was announced that he and Ashley A were getting married
Gretchen: After attending Harvard, Gretchen went on to work at NASA as a nuclear scientist. She still visits sometimes to do presentations for 3rd Street Students to help the next generation of kids get interested in science.
Spinelli: After retiring from the WWE due to an injury, Spinelli came back to town and is now the owner of a gym in town that helps kids manage their anger in a healthy way.
I really like this comment! I like the story it tells and the way we all imagined it as a kid! I actually read the entire thing and I loved it! =]
I approve
RIP Principal Prickley
This is some powerful nostalgia right here. I watched this movie SO many times as a child.
Same!! That’s why I’m here 😂
R.I.P Dabney Coleman as Peter Prickly he died may 16th 2024
This gave me chills for some reason. I think it was the nostalgia hitting my brain.
are you frankie rose?
It’s funny how I feel nostalgic even though I didn’t grow up in the 60’s
Same, I was born in 2001.
Happened to me when I first watched this movie at 10. It was a very weird feeling.
It's reincarnation.
Same except I was born in 1992
Me too. I didn't grow up in the sixties but having to see what went on during that time seemed good and need to make a change.
R.I.P Jason Davis, thank you for voicing Mikey
i thought this was just some fucking weird ass dream I had but its real ITS REALLY REAL
I only watched this movie once and it will remain in my brain till the day i die. 👐🤣
Is it weird that I like this version more than the original?
Same
Not at all friend more detail better tech to record it baritone voice you're okay friend they cannot lie to you any longer
Rip Jason Davis :/
Classic. It was a blessing to have been a kid to be watch this. Never ever forget
Terrible knews guys, the child voice of Mikey (Jason Davis) has... passed away yesterday.
What?!
You mean the person who did the voice for Mikey in this movie ? Because several people did his voice in the show, they changed all the voices over time, except Spinelli's. Or so I read somewhere.
news
I miss being a kid sometimes
😣
I want to thank this movie for putting me on the psychedelic grooviness that is 60's music at very young age
This was the movie that good me into 60's music!
This bit of the film always makes me feel so nostalgic about my childhood days, I will always miss and remember the 1990s/2000s, they were the best times ever and I'd happily go back to them if I could travel back in time
Same for me 2000s
For me, the best years of my life were between 18-30yrs old.
Mikey's Music Teacher would have seen this and been proud of Mikey singing voice
I saw this movie when it came out in theaters back in 2001. I really miss Recess. Disney Channel is garbage now.
They don't make Disney Channel shows like they used to
ReptarOnIce my brother saw this movie in theaters too
I only saw it on vhs.
Robert Moya I'm currently in the middle of watching the series
in the late 90's early 2000's on disney alone we had kim possible recess weekenders lilo and stitch loyd in space buzz lightyear legend of tarzan pepper ann the disney version and last 2 seasons of doug teacher's pet ..since then we got the replacements brandy & mr. whiskers fineas and pherb but not much else since 2010...just gravity falls i guess...and yonder over wander i guess is ok
This has lived rent free in my head for like 20 years
My grandma owned the vhs of this, anytime I'd visit her I would watch this movie along with so many other (now old) movies.
You had an amazing childhood
I hated when Disney would play this movie at the end of summer 😂😅. It was such a bummer knowing summer was over but this movie teased us
Jesus, that brings me back.
This movie brings back so many memories.
Better than the actual song
There's an actual song?
@@christianparrish6647 yeha called green tambourine, is very old so yeah make sense why this one sounds better
Dude I STILL HAVE THE VHS. I remember specifically watching to the end of the credits because the last two songs were so amazing.
1:36 this part always gives me goosebumps......
This song turned on a whole new generation to LSD.
Yep 🤣🤣😂
Why’s is this in my brain years later almost like a trance of Nostalgia
I miss this show I wish it was still around I looking them now
i love this video this is my favorite show from back then.
I watched this movie so much as a kid, I saw it a bit ago and still had every line memorized. No wonder Dan Harmon took ideas from Recess when he made Community
REALLY? I love community
@@Jasmine-sk9mr me too
Rest In Peace Mikey
Tj = one of the beatles
Vince = Jimmy Hendrix
Mikey= possibly Robert Plant?
Oh my goodness! Yes! Yes! Yes! Yeah! I thought I was the one who thought Vince looked like Jimi Hendrix. T.J. could look like one of the Fab Four. I never thought about that and he does.
Spinelli= Yoko Ono
@@justinbarton8808 Seriously? 😧
Spinelli was rockin' that British Mod look.
I remember back in elementary school in the 2000s, we saw this movie before the last day of school. Fun memories.
These credits felt like a fever dream as a kid
This was one of my favorite songs even before I had watched this movie, so hearing it with one of my favorite series blew my MIND.
I love this so much.
rest in peace, Jason Davis :(
(he was the voice of mikey)
How did he die?
I'm here because I just randomly remembered this sighs... God I miss my childhood
December 2019, remembering my hippie roots
Even now this far in the timeline this still haunts my personal playlist, love on ya'll.
This song is the only reason I remember this series, out of nowhere many years later, green tambourine jumps In my mind and takes me to my childhood.
Best version of this song I've heard
Watched this for the first time probably over 15 years ago and I cannot forget this song. It will come into my brain out of nowhere and will not leave.
Lovin' the Ankh necklace. ❤️✌️
Such a great memory... Love
R.I.P Jason Davis (Mikey's speaking voice) and Robert Goulet (Mikey's singing voice)
I love this movie so much, and I literally first watched it in 2020
(Just 19 years too late)
Oh man, you should have watched it as a kid, it was the best childhood ever.
Rip Robert Goulet, amazing singing voice of Mikey
This is life for real..... One of my favorite tv to watch Saturday morning....
I rewatched this movie recently and!!! Wow rewatching it was like reputting back pieces of my memory which i had forgotten but yet subconsciously remembered in my mind lol and not even joking i thought i made up in my head this ending scene and Te J's Sister lol
Same
certified core memory
And they wonder why 90s babies are we are
I was born in the wrong generation of movies- this is amazing- I watched this just the other day, and this has been stuck in my head for some reason-
The 90s were awesome. The last generation before social media and widespread internet.
Bournefort dang
@@BournefortWe really did grow up in the right generation 😢
Rest In Peace Mikey.
R.I.P. Miley Blumberg
0:46 spinelli super cute...
Yes
This movie meant so much to me growing up. It’s such a great movie with an amazing message. As I grow older I learn to appreciate it more.
This was really mind blowing to me as a kid. Just how much work they put into this will deserved cover. Very small things seen as a kid can stay with you for a long time
R.I.P. Jason Davis and Robert Goulet
Happy 20th anniversary Recess School's Out.
Please take me back to these days
The only Disney Channel TV show I ever really enjoyed and this film.
RIP Mikey😔😥
Nostalgic song 😢😢
2024 and this song stills lives rent feee in my head 😂
I can’t say anything bad about Recess, this was easily one of Disney’s greatest cartoons. They made you wish you went to school if it meant seeing these diverse, unique, and all around interesting students. I grew up in a private religious school where pretty much all of us were encouraged to be the same rather than be individuals. I would have given anything to spend my elementary days at this school.
If they dont have this scene in the live action remake I'm going to severely pissed
What is the update about this?
Theyre doing a live action remake?
@@llarmstrong783 No! Thankfully they are not! It was just a jab at Disneys reputation for constantly doing live action remakes
@@superkatsuma3755 good lol
I have owned this movie on VHS since it came out. Lost the tape after a move and was heartbroken ever since. Was thinking about this movie recently but I couldn't remember the name of this song. Finding this clip brought tears to my eyes along with memories of the good times..
One of my favorite movies!
Groovy man
Omygoodness I have been wondering about this song forever
I Like the Vibraslap!!
Still a classic.
60's>>>90's>>>20's
Separated by >30 years each
[I know the movie is 2001 but it is steeped in the 90's show from which it originates]
This song is ingrained into my brain
Recess was a special show
Is Vince supposed to be Homage to Jimi Hendrix or something he sure looks like him with that Fender Stratocaster looking guitar
Kami It's a bass
he is indeed...
That really looks nothing like a strat
it’s a bass but i think it is a reference to him, the pots and switches should be facing his feet but it paying homage to him in a way by flipping a lefty bass and he’s playing it right handed, weird
Eeyup! Even I say he looks like Jimi. He just needs to learn how to play it with his teeth.
Oh the memories of my childhood, things were so much simpler then
This song sounds more 60s than the original one
I loved that show , thank you for uploading
Rest in Peace...
Pete.
✨Best show ever! ✨
