    "Rett i Koppen", which translates to "Straight into the Cup", is a civilian brand of instant soups and drinks that can be found in every grocery store here in Norway.

      Sounds very similar to Northern English local dialect - Reet int cup

    • @Kexrex
      @Kexrex 4 месяца назад +6

      technically a double entendre because "rett" also means dish, which grammatically functions as "dish in the cup"

    These are easy to find here in Norway but NOT cheap😂😢
    199KR NOK (about 18 USD) for 1 ration.
    I still buy them tho, great for camping/hiking.

    Just had that peach flavored drink the other day and it was hands down the best ration drink i have ever had. Just wow!

    I always like the "Arctic/Cold Weather" rations. Freeze dried usually beats retort pouches.

    Very cool Nathan. Hope all are well. I have only lucked into one of these. It was awesome. Yours looks the same. Glad you had some fun. Peace, John.

    Would still love to see you do a series for Consumer Meals like readywise and Mountain House. like going to Walmart or Costco and buying whatever Multi-pack they have.
    I know many reviewers have done them in the past... but I noticed most have ads for the one they are reviewing...

  • @rekleif

    We pay around 15-21$ for these here in Norway with a 25% sales tax, and they are readily available online and in most wilderness and hiking shops...

    Nice review. To bad these rations are hard to find and expensive. I would take this any day over a US MRE.
    Thanks for sharing.

    The reason for the Bridgeford side was that it didn't need preparation. You could eat it and the blueberry bar if you needed the calories and couldn't heat water yet.

    Drytech the company behind real on the go and the Norwegian military didn’t agree on the new contract, so real on the go might not be in Norwegian mre from now on

    • @jonnor6883
      @jonnor6883 4 месяца назад +4

      Not really true. It's all about government regulations. Since there are others that can deliver on the same criterias most they announce a tender.
      Drytech might win the tender or not. Nobody knows as long as there will be negotiations and they will be kept secret. Drytech hoped they could win the contract without a tender

    You can pull out the bottom ends of the meal pouch, makes the pouch stand better and you get the water easily into the freeze dried mix. Also, the notches in 2/3 up the pouch is to tear the top potion of the bag off, when the meal is ready and you eat straight from the pouch. You get your spoon down to the bottom, without sticking your hands down into it.

    I'd be interested to get your impressions on some Back Country freeze dried meals, made in New Zealand. They're readily available in Australia but not sure about in the USA. They make some great stuff, especially their freeze dried Cooked Breakfast.

    Take a look at the camping section of every "outdoor" store you find and you'll be surprised at the variety of freeze dried meals that are out there. The popularity of these things has blown up with all the rations on socials and what-not. Might not necessarily be cheap but there's alot of companies making em.

    Drytech do sell them on their store, they have the regular dinner not arctic rations ... so the dinner is cheaper and have about 600 kcal.... while that arctic ration do have 1300 kcal.

    I’m surprised Norway hasn’t went to retort pouch meals with an FRH. Seems kinda redundant, to go with freeze dried meals, where hot water to rehydrate them isn’t always gonna be available in field. Freeze dried meals work better for Arctic rations because, hot water is always gonna be brewing up something. Also should’ve dropped the coffee into the hot chocolate for some mochaccino army style lol. Great video as always Nathan!

    Yeah its all available to the public but its pretty expensive. All is top shelf stuff and with matching prices, so if Im on a trip its not something for every meal.

      1. Fill the bag half full with water. Seal it, shake it.
      2. Open and drink/zip directly from the bag.
      3. Seal it again, and put whats left of it gently in your pocket for later use. (not upsidedown lol)
      4. The bag and seal is high quality, but will pop-open if you accidentally sit on it, or under pressure.

    "pretty cheap" No, one singel meal like the one you got cost 200,- nok. or $20 in Norway. Good, but not cheap. Standalone meal cost $10-12.
